There aren't a lot of places in Baton Rouge that handle threading. In an effort to clean up the current bushels of wisdom (#1) we call eyebrows, I settled for Just Stringz in a pinch. In hindsight, it was every bit as bad as advertised. The red flags were there: 1) It's in a mall 2) It's called "Just Stringz." 3) The place is empty (and the mall is crowded). 4) The stylist was on her phone. A lot. 5) The reviews. I can't emphasize the latter enough. Was I daring or just too empathetic? Maybe a little bit of both. The thread job was bad. While she went chatty kathy on me, she broke the thread more often than she cleaned up the brow. I've gotten to the point where I'm no longer feeling the pain, but the eyelids were stinging after a few swipes. It might be because it's been awhile, but I don't recall feeling this way in other spots. After pushing down my lids for dear life, the skin areas were red. There was even a small cut. I did manage to get a "sorry about that" mustered from her but the excuse was my hair was "tough" to remove. I'd like to think otherwise, but I haven't gotten that complaint before. Third times not even a charm. So, I liked Stringz because no appointment was necessary and now it's confirmed why appointments are very necessary. The first time was great. I think Zonda is her name. She was very fast and efficient. And the only one working. She had at least five folks lined up so I was hesitant to stay but she got to work. No small talk (which I love) and boom, done. The second time I went...meh. The girl was slow. And the only one working. Three people in line, took me an hour just to get in the chair. She did a good job, but the wait was a HUGE turn off. And maybe I'm pumping it up in my head but it kind of felt like she went extra slowed when she could feel people were getting impatient. Third time...well there was no third time. I rushed out there on a lunch break, the gate was halfway down with a sign that said "giving facial until 1:30". Well, it was 12:30 when I got there so I did not have time to wait...NO ONE ELSE WAS WORKING. I'm sensing a theme here. My second attempt at a third time was a couple days ago. After work. The gate was half way down. Sign up, "At lunch, will be back in an hour." I got there at 6pm. Again, and I assume, there was only ONE PERSON working. why would the only person on staff take an hour lunch??? Sorry, I can't put my eyebrows through that kind of hit and miss torture. Hit or Miss! I have been going here for about a year now and sometimes it is a great experience and sometimes I leave furious. Zonda and Jesserelle do great brows. Both take the time to get the perfect shape, trim the long hairs, pluck any strays, etc. Zonda also does amazing, professional facials so I highly recommend one of those! The biggest problem is that they do not take appointments. I have gone on my lunch break, called before I got to the mall to make sure that someone was there to do brows, gotten there and the person went on their lunch break or "to the bathroom" for 45 minutes. I have also gotten there right at 10:00 when they open on a weekday and the receptionist was there but no stylist. It was 11:30 before I got attended to and almost 12:00 before I got out of there. Also, that same day, the credit card machine went down, so if you were out of cash that day (even after a 1.5 hour wait), you were out of luck. There is almost always a wait, which would be fine if the staff WAS ON TIME! very frustrating experiences and almost not worth the quality work they do. read more

I love coming here to get my eyebrows threaded. They charge $12 for them to thread them, which isn't bad. The staff changes a lot, but lately the same girl has been doing my eyes. The don't take appointments which is bad. You may want to take cash when you go because sometimes the cash register might be down. read more

Went for eyebrow threading. The next morning my eyelid was sore and puffy, that's when I noticed "cuts" that were made by the thread. They need more training. Will not return. read more

HORRIBLE. When they first opened, it was ok. Zonda did my eyebrows but they were uneven. Not bad, I could work with. The next few times I went, I had to wait atleast 2 hours before I could get my eyebrows done. There is a sign in book but they didn't go by it so they just hollered who's next and the first person to get to the chair got their eyebrows done. One day, I went to get my eyebrows done and the gate was down saying they won't be back until 1:30 because of a facial. It was 2:30. Went back the next day, same sign. The very last time I went, I saw that they finally got more help. Only thing is when I walked in Zonda didn't even acknowledge me even though I'm a regular. She sat there doing nothing while the person that she was supposed to be training butchered my eyebrows with a tweezer and scissors. She gave me the mirror to see my eyebrows and one was skinny while the other one was thick with rough edges. They also were so thin that she had to fill them in. Finally Zonda decided to come over when she heard me complaining. Tried to fix the situation by giving me a free eyebrow filler. I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. WILL NOT EVER GO BACK. Just stringz in the mall of Louisiana is one of the WORSE salons i have ever stepped into. I had this girl who was there with her sister and a baby, first off her sister was so rude and smelled like garbage she looked so dirty with hair all over her face and legs, so sloppy looking, the baby that the employee was holding was dirty, how awful is that, to have this child running around a salon that looked like she has not had a bath. So It was my turn to to get my eyebrows done, This girl i wish i had gotten her name, I asked her how long has she been threading?, She says oh a few years, She smelled just as bad has her sister, Then I ask her, did she have special training for this trade, she reply's , OH I AM STILL WORKING ON MY G.E.D, I WAS KICKED OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. I said wow your boss must be a nice person to give you a job, She says, MY BOSS KNOWS AND I DON'T THINK HE CARES and laughed. What a disgrace this is to hear when your looking for a professional to do your brows. I should have stopped there and just walked out, Needless to say my eyebrows had 2 different shapes, she took so much time to do my brows, piled on way to much powder. Avoid this girl if you go there, she has piercings in her lip, dresses like a punk rocker, bad breath. Never will i go back to that place, I waisted 12.00 on my eyebrows to be left unhappy with the out come. For now on CORTANA MALL has a salon there for threading also, That is where i will go for now on. read more
