Unfortunately, my experience during this visit has completely changed the way I feel about your business. I am a pancreatic cancer survivor, and as a result, I occasionally experience sudden stomach issues that are completely unpredictable and beyond my control. When this happens, having immediate access to a restroom is not a convenience--it can be an absolute necessity. During my visit, I was experiencing such an emergency. I approached the employees at the register and, despite feeling extremely embarrassed and vulnerable, explained my situation and respectfully asked if I could please use the store's restroom. I understood that your store policy is the restroom is not for public use, and I would not have asked if I were not experiencing a genuine emergency. I was refused. I was told that the store had previously allowed customers to use the restroom and that on some occasions, employees were left with a mess to clean up. I understood that those experiences may have been frustrating, but I was standing there asking for help during a medical-related emergency. I assured the employees that I was not going to abuse the privilege, yet I was still told no and had to walk to the next building desperately looking for a restroom. I cannot adequately express how humiliating and upsetting that experience was. It was difficult enough to have to ask for help in such a vulnerable situation, but being refused when I was clearly in distress was incredibly disappointing. Businesses certainly have the right to establish policies, but I hope you will consider whether there should be some discretion for genuine emergencies--particularly when someone explains that they are dealing with a medical condition. A little compassion in that moment would have made an enormous difference. I have been a loyal customer and someone who has recommended your store to friends and family. Sadly, after this experience, I will no longer be visiting The Brush Factory, nor will I be recommending it to others. I sincerely hope you reconsider how situations like this are handled in the future. No customer should have to feel ashamed or humiliated for asking for help when they are experiencing an unexpected medical emergency.

I mentioned once that I was hard to fit because I usually need petite lengths and they have kept their eyes open when buying to bring in a few additional petite options with that in mind. Talk about small town care and wanting to help their customers! During these current times with the pandemic, they are doing "appointment shopping" during phase one so customers can feel safe. Displays outside looked clean and very eye-catching. They seemed to have different themes based off social media I saw. All seemed very cute! This store is packed with different assortments of things such as gifts, household items, accessories, etc. There were some small sub sections of organization around the store but it still just felt like a smorgasbord of different items and things. It was hard to tell if things were in the right place or not. Since the storefront is pretty small, I did find myself having to shuffle around other customers sometimes. I'm not sure of the typical amount of people in the store but could be something to caution for if you are mindful of having extra space or feel overwhelmed in a tight store area. It is truly impressive how many items are packed into this store-front. Honestly, I felt like it was a little overwhelming especially with so many things hanging on the walls and very tall shelves. A lot of items like book ends, figurines and other items on top of shelf I couldn't really tell if it was for sale or playing a part in displaying another product. For example, I inquired the price of a faux animal head hanging from the wall. The store attendant was helpful identifying the price. But the matter is that after looking around at several other heads and art pieces hanging up nearby, I still had to ask the price because even after looking on my own I still couldn't figure out any of the pricings. It's frustrating while shopping to have to ask is this item even for sale? I simply couldn't tell up front and I felt bad about having to ask for each thing I was interested in. If the store was busy or happened to be understaffed for the day, I would feel bad having to ask about pricing. It would be especially awkward if I had to bring out a store associate only to have to tell them I'm not interested because of the price or seeing it up front. Items seemed reasonably priced for a good condition products curated at a small business near the beach. I ended up getting some art prints/cards, a headband, and some tarot cards. They put them in an adorable bag with storefront logo on it and a business sticker inside of it. Presentation was great! Overall, this place was so charming and whimsical. I think there truly could be something for everyone in this store but realistically as a customer if I can't tell the difference between what is for sale and what isn't, it becomes frustrating to me. I know that employees can offer great customer service but especially on nights where it's crowded or possibly understaffed, I feel guilty having to drag someone around to figure out different items - especially if it becomes where I don't even want the item after hearing the price or seeing item up-close. The variety of items in the store is outstanding so I definitely want to come back but I hope my next visit, I can find things better labeled and organized.

One thing you get with an in-person experience is the input from the ladies at the dress shop. They brought out several dresses based on a general description of what I liked. I ultimately chose an emerald green dress - which is not a color I would have ever chosen on my own. It turned out to be the perfect dress for me and complemented the bridal party color.
