Anyway pedanticity aside, since I moved away ten years ago, the place has changed a lot. As I child if I wanted to dine out in Bwood, we just had to settle for Wimpy burgers on the high street as the only culinary option ( - it's kinda a restaurant as they have cutlery). Now days there are cafes, sushi places and *gasp* at least *two* restaurants on the high street. Oh Em Gee. Even better - there are delis like this that serve delicious non kosher jewish food. I had the chicken soup and latkes - both rather tasty. I've had so many disappointing chicken soup experiences at higher end central London restaurants like the Wolseley and Mishkins- it was so satisfying to finally get the soup akin to the type my yiddishe nana would make. With kneidlachs - light and delicious matzo-meal dumpling balls, floating in broth of Jewish penicillin aka the soup. The deli also specialise in salt beef - I've yet to sample this. All in all very good. the service could be a little bit more cheerful and the decor could be a little less sparse and basic - but overall I am happy.

The locals seem to flock to this place pretty frequently. The owners new customers by name (always a great sign), and there was a line when we got there (which moved quickly). Plenty of pastas, paninis, antipastas, and more. We placed a massive order for 5 people and sat outside. Everything was delivered quickly and we ate while reaching our forks over each other's plates to make sure everything was tried, and nothing was missed. I didn't spend too much time looking, but there is a little shop as well which offers different sauces, pastas, etc. for purchase. They all look delicious, and great for a gift basket.

I guess though they're catering to the religious level of the clientèle in Radlett, who don't mind. They do have pre-packaged goods that are individually marked, but you have to hunt for them. While Ivor Silverman further down the road don't have the range of bread products and baked goods, they are licensed and do have challot if you need them in a pinch.

However it was not until I googled: "best salt beef in London" that I knew that there is a hidden gem to be found here. To me, salt beef is the UK variant of pastrami minus the peppercorns on the outside. I love both but I've had bad versions of both. So when I learned that this is the best salt beef in London, I got excited. I came and found a little shop with a few tables to dine in and options to take away. The menu was your typical jewish fare: salt beef, salads, gefilte fish, dumplings and so on. I went for the salt beef on rye with mustard: simple but I took one bite and I was sold. I immediately regretted not knowing about this place earlier - this is sandwich heaven. Perfect beef, great bread and a little bit of mustard: delicious! You know you have yourself a winner when you find yourself craving more, even days after. Yes B&K Salt Beef Bar is far off everything and scores about minus ten on the ambiance scale. There must be much trendier and hipper places in Central London but do they also serve a AWESOME salted beef sandwich? I am not sure so until I know I'll stick with B&K. Highly recommended.
