Israeli dining in Edgware. A nice atmosphere, friendly staff and a really nice menu. The portions are huge so you'll never come away hungry!

Love this restaurant. Huge portions but not terribly cheap if you want just a quick, cheap, snack. 3 course meal is quite good value.

While visiting the UK I was utterly spoiled with all the kosher options, including The Kitchen,…read morewhich recently opened with rave reviews and delicious food. In the 10 days I was there, we ordered take away once and ate-in once. I definitely recommend going in to the restaurant because the place offers a truly unique dining experience. With take away, the husband and I both opted for burgers, with him getting onion rings and me picking up the chili fries. I'll admit the fries were of the frozen-and-fried variety with chili sauce poured atop (delicious, still), while the onion rings were clearly hand-battered and, as the husband said, delicious. The burger I got was plain, and by the time it got to us was a bit lukewarm. My husband ordered the Double Fakon Cheat Burger (Two Prime Beef Burgers topped with Smokey Fakon & Soya Cheese) and both inhaled and raved about it. I was a bit jealous, but being gluten free I couldn't really enjoy a burger the way I wanted. We also nabbed a spicy sushi roll, which was killer, fresh, and perfectly kickin'. When we went in, the last night I was in the UK to see my husband, it was date night. We both felt terribly under dressed being there at night, so take note: If you're going there for dinner, put on something nice, probably not jeans. I ordered Mitch's Sandwich sans the baguette: Baguette with Sliced Chargrilled Minute Steak, Sautéed Mixed Peppers and Onions with Mayo served with Homemade Fries and Coleslaw. Unfortunately, they were missing the mayo and they served me a mustard that had wheat in the ingredient. We let them know, so hopefully they won't make anyone sick unnecessarily in the future. The meat was absolute perfection and the peppers/onions were to die for. It reminded me of a sort of deconstructed Philly Cheesesteak, sans the cheese. The coleslaw was okay, but had a weird citrus tang that gave it a strange after taste. The sweet/tangy balance is not there yet, but I suspect that with enough Americans eating there, they'll get it right. My husband ordered The Dallas Cowboy: Baguette with Pulled Home Smoked Beef Rib and Caramalised Onions served with Homemade Fries and Coleslaw. Although we got what they were going for in an homage to pulled-pork sandwiches, unfortunately the meat wasn't "pulled" at all. It was cubed and completely unseasoned. Unfortunately, he was disappointed with it. Overall, the eat-in experience was pretty great, even with the food hiccups. The interior of the restaurant is very alt-rock glamour, with paintings of classic characters in modern situations (a character reminiscent of Shakespeare, ruffles and all, with one leg propped up on a soccer ball, for example). The lighting is dim and romantic at night, and the seating space is very close, so get to know your neighbor. The staff were nice and accommodating, checking on all my gluten-free questions, which is always a good sign. In the end, I'd say this restaurant has a lot going for itself and will go far if it tweaks its recipes and menu just slightly toward perfection.

Don't sit near the door unless you don't mind getting a chill down your back every time someone enters or leaves! There were 3 female waiting staff who all seemed rather indifferent. We had to attract the waitress' attention to get her to take our order - having realised that the couple who'd arrived and were seated after us, she'd gone and taken their order before coming to us first! The staff don't smile. They don't greet you, they certainly don't make you feel welcome! Our meals arrived, my husband had ordered a chinese pad thai and I'd ordered a 4 seasons. You have to remember that this is a kosher dairy establishment so there is no meat on the menu. My pizza was huge, the toppings were mozzarella, tomato, mushrooms, red onion and sliced black olives. The base was thicker than I personally like but not disgustingly so. The toppings were plentiful, too. In 'normal' pizza parlours if I order a pizza that says it has olives, I'm likely to see 5 whole olives dotted around my pizza. This one was not quite covered with the black olives but it was a welcome sight! When you take into account my pizza was just under £9 it was very good value. I couldn't eat all of it and brought half back in a doggy bag. However, as nice as the food was, the 'customer experience' was poor! I wouldn't say it was a particularly comfortable experience. Either the chairs were too low or the tables were too high - I felt like I had my chin on my plate almost. It was the waiting staff that really made our visit memorable by being so unfriendly and not particularly efficient. The food is good value if you can put up with the attitude of the staff.

Service is great and the prices are surprisingly low (this is London, after all) giving excellent value for money. Top quality produce at prices you don't even find in grotty establishments. Vegetable Maki (a full 6 pieces) for £2.50 is unbeatable, no? Duck in it's various incarnations is a popular choice too. Their website says they serve "Exquisite Glatt Kosher Oriental Cuisine". Whatever that means to you, trust me you don't have to be Jewish or Kosher to enjoy this place. Book well in advance as it's very popular.

The waitress, a woman with attitude, didn't apologise to us or even comment on the problem. After one too many ants spoiled the table for us, we had informed the waitress and she had us move to another table, still no apology. We asked to speak to the manager and the owner came out and defended himself by saying the problem happens everywhere. "It's a hot day today." It isn't and wasn't. He didn't want to apologise, and refused to comp us any of the meal. He thought he couldn't do anything more than change our table and, "well, there aren't any ants in your food." If we had waited any longer, there surely would've been. We should've realised there was a good reason the place was empty except for one other table of old-timers. Poor customer service, poor attitude, rich prices, poor food. Fumigate and close would be the best advice.
