The frosting on the cake (or the pedicure), though, is the wonderfully helpful staff, who happily brought out pair after pair for me to try, and really listened to what I needed and made thoughtful suggestions. Too often shoe stores now consist of mostly DIY, which I find limits both my knowledge and patience in choosing the best shoe for me. The store I located in the St. Albert Centre and is clean with nice displays. They let me in on a great tip - check out the web site, www.quarkshoes.com, to see "what's coming," discover coupons (yay!), and their full line of outdoor clothing, as well as sales and contests. It's not in an area that I pass by often but I has an appointment nearby and as I was parking I spotted the sign. Luckily I was 20 mins early, giving me the perfect place to kill time! The store is underneath some apartments but tokes over half of the ground level by the looks of it. A fantastic big space, filled from top to bottom with vintage treasures. The owner does a great job creating cute corners highlighting furniture, decor, ornaments and clothing. I immediately wished I had more time to browse! The clothing is divided into rails of amazing dresses from the Victorian era and more. The underskirt section was unreal and made me wanna dress like a steam punk to my meeting. So cool. Lots of eclectic and romantic bits for a vintage wedding. Just wonderful.

The Running Room carries brand name clothing, shoes, as well as running accessories. They also hold running clinics throughout the year which is a great way to meet people with similar interests and abilities to your own. The St. Albert location is just off the main road (St. Albert trail) beside a 7-11 in a very dated building. As old as the building looks on the outside it feels older on the inside. It is dark and dingy even in the middle of a sunny afternoon. There is also only one change room so if there are multiple people wanting to try clothes on it can take a while. I find that this location has a smaller selection of items than are offered at other stores. I also think they don't get many sizing in for each product, so lots of times items are only available in really really big or really really small. In general I find the items are on the more expensive side; with every clothing item over $50 your money won't go very far. When I was in on the weekend the staff were very unhelpful - there were two young girls who were chatting at the till area while I wandered around for 20+ min. When I approached them about something they answered with the quickest response and pointed to the corner where the items were that I needed. The major positive about this location is the proximity to the Sturgeon River. This is the perfect location for running as all of the gorgeous trails in St. Albert are linked by the one that runs along the river. This gives the running clinics multiple options for trails, adding variety to their programs.

Upon coming down, there did not appear to be very many options. After waiting 10 minutes, and not being acknowledged, we left and bought two pairs of boots elsewhere for about 25% less. I was surprised and disappointed at how small this store was in comparison to their other locations. You can order from them online (usually a better price, too). Returns can be made to the store if the shoes aren't what you are looking for. SoftMoc is located in the brand new west wing of St. Albert Centre.

When I went to exchange the boots the saleperson Mykitiuk said the only way to exchange the boots was for her to give me a gift card as there was no cash available. I had no idea that the gift card had no cash value nor did the casher provide me with other options such as coming back when they had cash. Needless to say the boots did not work out and when I tried to get my cash back I was told by the manager Hailey that I'm stuck with the gift card and advised me to call customer service. I could not get through to customer service. St Albert caused this problem yet they refused to help me. I'm now having to be on hold for hours to get through to customer service. This negative experience and the fact that this store has no cash makes it risky for customers making a cash purchase. I feel that the salesgirl trapped me into providing me with a gift card so that I'm stuck with having to buy boots from soft moc.

The lady who owned the store was chatting away showing off new items in the clothing boutique at the back of the room. She was lovely and very approachable. I needed up buying a top and necklace for my mother in law. The fashion is really nice and aimed at ladies in their 40s+ I would say. I was into plenty of it, as they have a really nice on trend rack. The home wares are fun interior decor items inc paintings, ornaments, furniture, vases and mirrors. I have my eye on a cactus cookie jar. They were in the middle of taking down all their Christmas stuff so can't wait to see what stock they put in it's place.

Many items are very appealing and would look great in a variety of different rooms within a home. Not only are there Decor items, the store also carries Clothing, Jewelry, and a variety of Handbags as well. I had no idea this store existed until I looked on Yelp and realized that I drive by this store on the way to work every day. So glad I stopped in. Worth a look!
