That price felt reasonable, so I asked what exactly it included. The policy was explained to me along the lines of: "We can usually cover the cost of parts within this price, but occasionally there are outliers where additional costs may be necessary depending on the repair." Honestly, I found that even more reasonable. We live in a world where tech manufacturers care less and less about repairability and seem to believe you're better off just buying a new device instead of fixing the one you have. Asus itself charges a minimum diagnostic fee of $99, and that doesn't even include shipping. At that point, I can only imagine what the communication and turnaround time would look like. After a few days of diagnostics, it was explained to me that I would need a new keyboard. Most of the keys simply needed a little work to get functioning again, but unfortunately my "C" key was completely done for, which was obviously out of their control. A replacement keyboard was ordered from a relatively local supplier, but it arrived defective, so we had to pivot to another option from China. What really impressed me was that they returned my laptop to me while we waited for the new keyboard to arrive. That wasn't even something I had considered as a possibility. Even though the repair wasn't complete yet, I greatly appreciated being able to use my laptop in the meantime. That is absolutely not something you'd get from the manufacturer. The estimated arrival time for the replacement keyboard was about a month, but it actually showed up in only about two and a half weeks. I was psyched. I dropped my laptop off in the morning right when they opened, and it was ready for pickup by the end of the same day. Best of all, I was told there would be no additional charges beyond the original quote. Both of the gentlemen behind the counter were thoughtful, considerate, and professional throughout the entire process. The pricing was highly reasonable, the communication was excellent, and I got my laptop back in perfect shape in a timely manner. Highly, highly recommend.

If you go to Google Maps and enter in 99 west north in Healdsburg, this is the door we entered, the one in the middle with the awning. Everyone we interacted with in this bldg was super extra nice. I recounted how frustrated we were with our seemingly unique internet needs, and someone (wish I could recall his name) ended up hooking us up (aka for FREE) with a slightly used (but still working) DSL modem/router that works great. In short, go see these guys about your tech/networking needs, they will actually take the time and talk with you about stuff, rather than professing total ignorance at their own products then shoo-ing you out the door (like some other name-brand tech stores around here).

I took 3 beautiful but very dusty vintage cassette decks to get serviced (2 worked OK, but 1…read moredefinitely needed repair). When I went to pick them up, they were still filthy. I tested the broken one in the store and it still didn't work. The guy behind the counter said that maybe the technician (Rashid the owner) forgot to do some of the work, so leave them and come back next week. I came back the following week, but it appeared that still nothing had been done! WTF. Again they said leave them and it will get done right this time. These machines are very valuable, so I didn't want this guy touching my decks again. I took them home, opened the covers and saw that at least one of the drive belts hadn't been replaced and the decks clearly hadn't been cleaned. There was no way for me to tell whether they had been tested, lubricated, calibrated, etc, but the broken one was still broken. I had paid a 50% deposit when I first brought them in. When I took the decks home I was mortified by the work (or lack of it) but at least I thought that I had only paid $500 instead of $1000. At least it wasn't a total rip-off, right? Well when I got my next credit card bill, I saw that they charged the other $500 (without my authorization!) weeks ago while they still had the decks and before I picked them up. Again WTF. I still can't comprehend the incompetence and/or lack of veracity and integrity of this shop. I really really don't understand how they have such great reviews from other customers. Maybe Rashid is a great TV repairman, but just plays an audio repairman on TV... All that said, I should give credit where credit is due. This was my second time I had visited their shop. The first time I had a great experience.
