Overall our experience was good, but I don't think I would use them again. A little background: It was a super hot day, and I felt bad for the movers. They didn't seem to have water or proper PPE for the weather. The positive: Movers were on time and ready to work! Items were moved carefully, but they probably could have used a third worker based on the items we had. I feel I was transparent with how much items we had including heavy items. The negative: Two movers were not enough based on the items we had including heavy items. The move took much longer than expected. Movers seemed really irritated the whole time, which I can't tell if it was from the heat or we did something wrong. Movers also left garbage behind and we had to clean up after. Usually the moving company will follow up after to see how things went, but we never heard from Nancy. Nancy also said she would come to check in during the move, but never did. We paid, and it was done. I think overall, it was a fine experience, but not to the level of other moving companies I've worked with before. Based on the more recent reviews, it looks like some improvements have been made which is great!

We had a challenging move from downtown S.F. to Berkeley, to a house that is in the middle of multiple construction projects. Yet they made everything feel easy. I had gotten food poisoning the day before and we were stressing because we hadn't yet finished packing. But it was no problem--they loaded the truck with the items that were ready to go while we packed the rest. Make sure to ask for Joseph and his team (Fernando and Victor). They arrived a little early so they'd be ready and were the utmost professional while also being a warm and friendly team of guys. We would have them over dinner any time. Because of Joseph I'm now convinced that moving is both an art and an athletic feat. We had a recliner (100lbs) and a treadmill (200lbs) that were too wide to go through a doorway--and yet he maneuvered them effortlessly through without a scratch on either.

These are not Professional Movers, they are just Guys Who Move Stuff. Big difference. Professional moving companies do more than just lift boxes. They protect your belongings and get them safely from point A to point B. These guys failed across the board. They didn't wrap up any of our things, including our art. Paintings arrived scratched and damaged. They didn't wrap fragile objects, like ceramic vases (?!!) instead the movers shoved them into boxes along with other items. Various items had multiple parts, but since these weren't packaged together, parts were lost. The goal of this moving company seemed to be to get the move over with as quickly as possible without a single concern about our belongings. I wish I'd looked more closely at these reviews before booking this moving company. I would've noticed (as you should) that most of the reviews are written by people who seem to have joined Yelp just to write a positive review of this company. Major red flag. Don't make the same mistake we did. If you value your valuables, find another moving company.

We sent our kitchen assembly instructions ahead of time to make sure they were aware. My overall sense is that Carlos is fairly capable and experienced but either his team or him are not as careful as we had damages to our finished wood toe kicks and our lacquer cabinets looked like they had been dragged over nails as they were being assembled. I didn't appreciate that they made 0 mention of it at all and I had to point it out. As the homeowner, I essentially had to baby sit them for 5 days through the install since it felt like they were incapable / unwilling to read the kitchen cabinet installation instructions in detail and I caught several mistakes early on during the cabinet assembly that made me hesitant to leave it unattended. Carlos's attitude was particularly bad through the entire experience as well. Always made it seem like we were inconveniencing him or being too nit picky even if we caught some mistakes. At one point, he even threatened to quit after the assembly but before the installation simply because he had underestimated the complexity of the project. We did have a 1 day delay due to some plumbing / electrical issues but that's pretty typical as far as kitchen cabinet installations go AFAIK. In the end, they were able to get all the kitchen cabinets installed, albeit with a lot of effort from my end due to the more custom nature of the project. The price was affordable and the work was solid (minus the scratches) but for me the bad attitude wasn't worth it.

Andrey and his crew are totally worth 10 stars on Yelp. I have never seen such a delicate attitude to the process from the movers. With the moving companies it is all about the details. You can notice movers' experience from the moment they park the truck or by looking at the equipment they have. The uniform plays its part too. So when I saw Andrew parking his giant truck in a single move without any assistance from crew members, I realized I would be in good hands. There is not much to say about the moving part other than they take a lot of care about your furniture that might become a little annoying considering that I don't care as much about my cheap furniture. I can't blame them for caring about my stuff more than I do, so I don't think it should be an issue worth emphasizing on. Oh my goodness, these guys were amazing. They were professional, fast and very accommodating. I called this morning requesting movers for today to unpack my POD and expected to pay an outrageous amount of money. Not only were they very reasonable they arrived early "TODAY". They also handled our belongings with care as the moved quickly from one room to another, and up and down stairs not getting flustered with me while I was trying to decide where boxes went. From my first contact with Marcus Jackson that took my call and was able to schedule my same day appointment to Alex, Aivar and Alibek the movers made our family's transition from Florida to San Jose California less stressfull. I would certainly get these movers again and highly recommend them 1. They're very pleasant to speak to and work with, asking for your permission regarding the handling of things and movement of vehicles 2. They move really fast and take care of your belongings - wrapping furniture in moving blankets and cling wrap, reboxing the belongings for easy loading, etc 3. Very efficient in moving belongings - holding doors, elevators, loading, taking advantage if stairs and ramps, etc FAST - we started in downtown SF at 945am and finished in Palo Alto at 1230, very very excellent. I had some large and tricky furniture to move, and there was no elevator in both apartments, but that didn't stop them from doing great work. Hired 2 movers at the rate of $80/hr + $30 gas fee. This quote was significantly lower than other movers I called. The mover were prompt and arrived on time. Quickly wrapped furniture. They took pictures dismantling beds. I was impressed by how efficient they were. They took excellent care of my belongings, not one ding or dent on anything during the move. The only cons I can think of are 1) cash or check only. They do not take credit or debit card and 2) very limited English. A couple of times I had to text a message relay a message to the movers which was no problem for me. I don't plan to move any time soon bit I would definitely use A&W again.

Said we only needed 2 movers. When the 2 movers got here they didn't speak English or my language of cantonese so we couldn't communicate. They ask me to talk to the lady translating for us to figure out what was going on. The lady said "oh they think it's too much work and in the middle of my call the movers just got in their truck and left. I asked the lady translating if the movers left and she acted surprised and said let me call the lead manager to send you new movers and she never got back to me. So unprofessional. Left us hanging and scrambling to find new movers since we only have 2 days left to move. This is not the place to trust to get your moving done.

We didn't just pack up our…read morehouse, but we also packed up my mothers, combined everything, put it all in storage until we found a single home in Santa Fe and then moved everything in. On the initial moving day we had two crews, one at each house and then we had one of these two crews actually move us in 2 months later. Exceptional. When I moved to San Francisco from NYC 27 years ago, I used one of the large national firms - the guys who delivered my stuff arrived almost 2 weeks late and were largely guys picked up from a home depot parking lot. When my mother arrived in San Francisco 10 years ago, again using a national firm, the truck arrived with only a driver and his drugged out girlfriend and no one to unload the truck. I share this as a point of comparison. Whether you are dealing with Kim or Bobby in the office or the guys moving your stuff, everyone is kind, enthusiastic and helpful. The the crews themselves are a really connected and supportive team. Many of these guys have worked for Shamrock for a long time - another proof point that this is a great company. In terms of price Shamrock was slightly cheaper than a bid from Allied, too, and there was no up charge at the end of it all. This is a great and trustworthy company.
