They do all of the hauling and clean up. The price is quite reasonable for the work they did, and it is so nice to have all of that trash GONE. We had "temporarily" used our kennel for storage when we were doing a major remodel project, and the stuff just never got moved. I needed the kennel to house our 4 rescue kitties and I really worked hard to clean it out, but the stuff that was stored was basically destroyed. Very unimpressed with their professionalism and attention to detail. They tried to charge me $350 for 45 mins of work and gave me very unclear expectations up-front. I needed less than 200 square feet emptied of junk and cleaned after my tenant abandoned the property. The woman I spoke with told me they would be unable to repair drywall or to paint but would otherwise leave it in "move-in ready" condition. When she called for payment I asked to speak with the men who did the work since I was not present and wanted to make sure it was done thoroughly. They cussed at me and said they were "just junk removal guys" and "did the best they could". Apparently they were armed only with Clorox wipes. Had I had a clear expectation that they didn't do much cleaning, then I would have hired a different company and certainly wouldn't have agreed to pay $350 for only 45 mins of work to remove trash. Also, if you arrive to a job that you feel is more than you can tackle, then you contact the client to let them know that before doing a half-ass job and demanding payment, am I right? Junk Pros saved us! Twice!! We had to move everything out of our 2-bedroom apartment in 60 days. It's amazing how much junk you accumulate in 15 years! Julio set up an appointment for us. He and his crew are very professional and polite. First of all, they arrived on time. They helped us bag up our junk!! That was a HUGE help. We filled up 2 truckloads but still had more junk. Julio set up another appointment a few days later. We filled up another truckload. We wouldn't have made our move-out deadline without Junk Pros. If we had tried to get rid of all our junk using our weekly garbage pickup plus Extra Garbage Stickers ($6.25 per sticker - 1 sticker per 30 gallon bag) it would have cost several thousand dollars and much than 60 days to get the job done. When 12:20 finally rolled around, I called to ask about their eta and they said they were still in Livermore finishing up a job! Our house came with a hot tub time machine and we weren't too sure about how to get rid of it. We looked around and to our surprise, Junk Pros does. We called for an estimate and it wasn't too bad. ~500 dollars to break it down and haul it away. They agreed to come on a Saturday morning to give us a full estimate in person and it was on... They showed up on time and came and actually quoted me something lower. they said it wasn't as big of a load as they thought and lowered it to ~400. Now how many places would actually be honest enough to do that? They brought out a saw and a couple of crowbars and 2 hours later, it was gone. Not sure if this was the best deal in town, but it was a deal nonetheless. Purchased the 25% off Yelp Deal for a pick up service that was needed. Pros is right. They recycle what they can and then junk what can't be reused. I was able to schedule within a few days notice, they gave me a good estimate over the phone after I told them what I had, called when they were on their way, called when they were done and took payment over the phone. I received an email with my receipt within the hour. Very professional, friendly and customer service driven. I really hope I never have to use this kind of service again. I was appalled to find out the Livermore Goodwill, the place I was told would come pick up my furniture to donate, told me they in fact, would not. In this review, I will assume that the bully I talked to on the phone was Julio the owner. I called yesterday and said I needed a bed, spring mattress, and an ironing board to be hauled away. Now Julio, or whoever was on the phone, will claim I only said "ironing board" on the phone, but who pays $99 to haul a simple ironing board?? Anyway, this is not even the main issue here, more on that later... The haulers came. The crew was surprised to see my bed and said they were told to only take the ironing board away. They said they did not even have space for them. I sent them away. Then the owner called me and condescendingly called my character into question (His condescension seems to be well documented in Yelp, assuming he was the same guy), saying that I only mentioned "ironing board" on the phone. Julio quickly commenced into insulting me by saying things like "what kind of a person does what you did." I am not going to go into who said what (even though I clearly remember mentioning the bed and mattress), but just the mean spirit of this person towards his customers is something nobody should endure. That should be your main take away from this review. Thankfully, I was able to interrupt his rage-filled trance about spending gas, time, etc. by asking, "What do you suggest we do?" He said he would all do it for $200 (Don't you see a pattern of "upping the price" once they arrive?), supposedly a discount down from $225. I agreed since I wanted it all gone right away. So they came in and hauled them for $200. One bed, spring mattress, one ironing board, and some irons hauled away for $200. You be the judge of the price, I am surely not an expert. Don't expect to get anything meaningful hauled away for under $100 with this company (Even though their prices start under $100 as they proudly claim). These guys are quick to call you a liar and will run up the price on you. If there is a misunderstanding with the customer, do you call their character into question, or do you try to solve the problem calmly in a civilized manner? The bad thing about lashing out at your customers with a mean spirit is that you will get a single star at Yelp every now and then, get a call from that local TV Finney guy, or a letter from BBB. This is the price of assuming the absolute worst in your customers (the assumption being they are trying to trick you); you end up bringing out the worst in them in return. Before you reply with "Is this the thanks I get for a discount?", or "We tried to accommodate your needs, sorry to hear...", I think the readers of this review and I deserve simple answers to the following questions: 1. What kind of a person treats their customer with rage and insult? 2. Have you ever considered anger management courses? Respectfully, E. Final update for the owner's reply: The owner has pretty much proved my point that he assumes the absolute worst in his customers just because he was scammed in the past and will bully them in the first sign of an issue. We all know that scammers exist out there. But they surely do not end up paying twice their original quote and do not continue talking while the other person on the phone is shouting in rage instead of simply hanging up and trying to scam someone else. That would make quite a conscientious scammer! Why did I say "What do you suggest we do?" if the treatment were that horrible? (And believe me, it was) Because I wanted my stuff gone, and the haulers had already come, so I wanted to listen to what the owner had to say to find a solution rather than being part of an unproductive shouting match. The haulers came to do their job and had nothing to do with this issue, and like I said before, the price here is NOT the point. Before I leave this issue to rest, I leave it to the reader to decide on the owner's self-righteous and accusatory arrogance that comes through in his reply and in other customers' reviews in Yelp (e.g. "How can this guy sleep at night knowing this is how he treats his customers?") read more
