When we bought our house I had a large (8'x10') shed in the backyard that we didn't use. We wanted the space, and didn't want to maintain the shed which was starting to show its age. So, I decided to take it down and that meant I needed a construction bin to hold the construction debris. I called County Waste first, who only offered 10-day rentals (I needed it just for a day or two) at a pretty expensive price. Next, I called Junk King who had short-term rentals and rates that varied depending on the capacity of the bin used. For example, I ordered the smallest one which was about 13' deep and the rate varied from $150 (for 1/3 full) to about $350 (for completely full). Apparently, there is a $30 charge if it is "over-weight" which I got assessed with. Rental is for three days, but since they are closed on Sunday if you request delivery on Thursday you actually get it for four days! They gave me a four-hour window for drop off, and called 15 minutes prior to let me know they were on their way. It was clean, bright red, and the doors easily opened. I couldn't believe that I filled the whole thing up. I would not hesitate to use them again. Update: (9/01/2017): I needed a large rock removed from the front of my lawn. The previous owners had used it as a house number, but I thought it looked tacky. I tried moving it myself but it was way too heavy. $89 later and it is gone! read more

Booked an appointment with the Junk King team to help clear out a surprisingly high number of discardable large items left behind after my parents had moved out of their house. The remaining junk kept us from being able to list the house. The team showed up on time, fairly evaluated the contents and did their best to fit everything within the quoted price and truck space despite my lack of prior organization and propensity to keep adding on more things to dispose! Hired Junk King to deliver a dumpster for a basement clean-out project and they never showed up to deliver the dumpster. After having the city Code Enforcement block parking on my street so a dumpster could be parked on the street and hiring workmen to remove the debris, they never delivered the dumpster which caused the whole project to be cancelled, which not only inconvenienced me but also my neighbors who needed to park on the street. read more

Todd Porter and his team are the best for junk removal in the capital region. They call you when they're on their way (literally nobody else does this!) are super considerate and professional and they are QUICK. I recently used them for a client who was an elderly gentleman moving out of house he had spent the past thirty years in. He also ran a tax business out of the basement. As you can imagine he was a bit picky about some stuff needed to be sorted, handled and disposed of. Not happy. I asked that a few items be left behind when cleaning out my sisters home. Both a wedding dress and a velvet Irish Dance Costume, both very expensive items were not left behind as requested. They are also supposed to sweep clean before leaving. #1 they came, walked through the home and gave an estimate and we agreed to price and then they left without a washing machine and when questioned about the wedding dress and costume, Todd said my husband was very rude and that he probably took the items so he could get away with not paying for the job.
