The management is on point and know all the kids names. My daughter's teacher, Miss Jennifer, is the best teacher I ever experienced. She is warm, artistically brilliant, in tune with the students, patient and kind! She genuinely treats the children as her own. I put my daughter in school full time at age 2 after our childcare situation changed. The school exceeded my expectations! My daughter knows colors, ABC's, can count to 10 in spanish, etc. I am so thrilled! My only regret is not sending my kindergarten aged son here! I LOVE this school! Update: I also forgot to add how wonderful and nurturing the class helpers and before/after care teachers are. The ones I have encountered are seasoned professionals and sweet! Among my favorites are Miss Terry, Miss Randi, and Miss Amanda. They are all unshakable and knowledgeable when it came to my clingy daughter crying often at drop off! They offer a variety of dance programs...and the year ending recital, held at the Patchogue Theater, is very well produced. The classes here tend to be smaller in size compared to the ones over at their other studio in St James. I can only guess, that is due to the greater number of dance schools in the Smithtown area. There are two class rooms, both with one directional glass, so parents can peek in and watch their children without being a distraction. The waiting area is not particularly large and can get a bit crowded, especially around the time classes end and another is about to begin. Another nicety of this location is it's proximity to several food establishments. There is a deli, pizza, chinese food. Quite often my wife will pick up a pizza for dinner on her way back there.

If you decide to park on Lake Ave be very careful as there are many blind spots. There floors are not good for jumps or leaps and can hurt the kids. She has since joined a new Studio where she was welcome with opened arms. The teachers are incredible with taking the time to actually teach a new student and the other students were excited to help. Currently he's 2 and a half so he's in the two year old program. I was nervous when we first registered him because he wasn't separated from anyone besides his family care-givers and I was nervous about how he was going to handle school. At first he was nervous but now that he realizes he'll be picked up he seems to be okay about going. The staff I have dealt with when I drop him off seem to be very nice. Miss Lisa seems to be an awesome teacher. I am nervous because our son has been pushing some of the kids in the class and even though this is normal toddler behavior we are trying to nip it in the but and discourage it. I'm just scared he might get kicked out of the school for it if it's ongoing but we'll see what happens. In short I'm impressed with this school so far, I hope my two year old does not get kicked out so that he may continue his pre-school years at Miss Midgie's.

He had a tough time transitioning and eventually we got him to go for a period of 3 months without tears. 6 mos later after winter break, he was horrified going. He screamed, cried and they would call me to speak to him because of how bad it was in hopes to calm him. They would remove him from the class and send him with the director who he had no idea of, in order for the teacher to just continue to teach. It obviously would get bad for any child to go with a stranger. They would then call me to pick him early. I tried to reach out to his teacher multiple times throughout the year in terms of communication and it was extremely poor. The only time I'd get good communication would be if they wanted me to pick him up early ( also stressful for a working parent). In the end, the new director spoke to us and we decided it best to withdraw him. I reached out to teacher to get in touch as to what the heck happened but she wouldn't respond until the director intervened. HORRIBLE SCHOOL and HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION. Do not send your kid here unless he or she knows how to fully speak and even then, they could care less about your child. I was told to ask his doctor about separation anxiety lol. I'm convinced something happened there because he went to a new school shortly after and was thriving. Unfortunately I won't ever know what since my son couldn't properly speak and the teacher was terrible in terms of communicating.
