You've been warned. Don't do it. You have to wait at least one HOUR to be seen. The receptionist is so used to the doctor being so behind, she doesn't care that patients have to wait. It's become commonplace- so sad. Next, when we get in there, the doctor says sorry he didn't have time to read the notes on the patient, so time is wasted by the patient telling him their history again, because he's too behind or inept to read the notes. This is bad care, ESPECIALLY for mental health care. So sad. What if you had a dangerous, unstable patient? They could not get their proper care. Then, as I'm watching the patient share their story, the doctor looks like he's nodding off (YES YOU READ CORRECTLY), I yell out- are you sleeping?! He said yes, he's so tired these days. I tell him if you cannot be a professional doctor and do your job, I am leaving with my kin and reporting you to the State Department of Health services, the State Health Board, and my health insurance company. This is horrible treatment; he also is way too old to be practicing- if he cannot manage his workload and stay awake. Please do the world a favor and RETIRE. This is NOT good health care. What a waste of time and money.

The voicemail said the Doctor was out of the office on the last few days of January, however my calls took place mid February. On the 3rd & final attempt about 2 weeks after the initial call, someone finally answered the phone. When I told the woman who answered that I wanted to set up an appointment with the Doctor for medication management she immediately asked what my insurance was. I stated Blueshield PPO. She asked me if it was through Covered California or LA Care. I stated Covered California. She immediately told me that the Doctor hasn't taken that insurance since January 2017. I asked if the doctor had a sliding scale and she told me that the first visit was $300 and that rash initial visit depending if it was 15min or 30min was $125-175 cash only. I rate this zero stars on customer service and zero stars on trying to offer help to someone who obviously needed some medical attention. If a person is calling seeking help & treatment... don't be rude. You could obviously be the last person that the ill were speaking to, and they could be in serious need, to the point that may have taken this call personally and have taken their own life. Be more considerate dear little miss phone answerer.

Unlike my previous psychiatrists who would meet me for 15 minutes to glance at my chart and give me medication to try, Dr. Yang looked at everything, and I mean everything. He requested all past medical records to make a decision on which medications to suggest. He took into consideration my body's reactions to previous treatments and external factors. Had it not been for him I probably would not be alive. He met with me every two weeks for an hour, we would converse for 30 minutes, and go over medication and literature for the other half hour. He has completely honest about the pros and cons of each prescription, and if I was willing to try it. He never sugar coated anything, and I think that helped a lot. He also had a good idea on how my body would react, and he was always right. I am glad my friends helped me pay my initial consultation, and for Dr.Yang who did not turn me away but provided a payment plan for me after evaluation. Now I am enjoying my 30's and planning for the future. I did not think I would make it to see my 30th birthday before coming to Clarity Mental Health. I had endured an 18 month long severe and treatment resistant case of mental illness that nearly claimed my life. No referrals here, the scan is done right in the office by a trained radiologist. Dr. Cao himself reviews the scan and follows up if there's more to be done. Fortunately, my diagnosis was no build-up, continue Yelping. The doctor is very approachable and popular, given a very full waiting room and a huge staff moving everybody around. Despite being so busy, I felt like I was the only patient around that day. Thanks Yelp for my new cardiologist.

I am deeply disappointed with the care my father received from Dr. Michael Cao and his office…read more After my father was discharged from the hospital in August 2024, it was urgently recommended that he see a cardiologist due to his heart issues. Dr. Cao saw my dad in September, and a test was conducted soon after. However, when it came to releasing the results or reviewing them for potential risks, Dr. Cao and his office became incredibly uncooperative. Not only did they make it extremely difficult for us to get the test results, but they also caused unnecessary delays for both my father's primary care physician and his high-risk doctor in obtaining critical information. The office staff kept the report from me and my family which I know I have the rights to obtain. After countless of heated arguments with their office staff going back and forth about the results by the time they agreed to send the results it was time to see Dr. Cao for the follow-up. Then Dr. Cao just simply said our case needs to be referred to another specialist when they could've referred us directly to begin with. Despite the urgency of my father's case, it seemed like Dr. Cao was unwilling to prioritize the situation. My father passed away in November 2024 due to cardiac arrest, and I can't help but feel that better communication and more proactive care might have made a difference. I expected better from a cardiologist, especially when my dad's health was at such high risk. Sadly, this experience has been a frustrating and painful one, and I would not recommend Dr. Cao to anyone in need of urgent care. During this time I heard he is the mayor so it seemed like he was too occupied and prioritizing that over the care for his patients.

They responded by saying that as of 2020, they just don't accept HMOs anymore. Which also didn't make sense since my boyfriend's family members go here. Eventually we were able to argue to the point where the front lady gave up and we came in to see him. He asked a few questions and then immediately prescribed us a bunch of medications, one for breathing, one for anxiety, and one for allergies. We asked for a referral to a specialist in psychology, but he just gave us Ativan immediately. We tried to ask, but he said take this first. I thought normally you would try to have the patient talk to a specialist or provide a holistic approach before prescribing medication, especially since it's a controlled substance and can be easily abused. Then we left and that was it.
