I've been with Jumpstart for the past 2 years and I rejoined after veering off course a few months ago. On Friday, I met with Jonica and i was really all over the place as it had been an overwhelming and emotional week since my dad was in the hospital. 33 lbs down from when I started 3 months ago and feeling so much better. The receptionist Summer is always super accommodating from giving you heads up on parking to squeezing you for appointments. Jonica has been awesome in helping me navigate different vacations to bachelor parties and with nutritional guidance and supplemental recommendations that actually work. They pull your labs so they know exactly how to achieve your goals without putting your health and mental state at risk. They aren't only looking at the present but what it is 10-20 years ahead based on family history and current risk factors. I am thankful for this team and look forward to the next 10 lbs. Jumpstart has been a godsend for me! After having 2 kids during Covid I was at my heaviest at over 25lbs above my pre pregnancy weight. I was determined to lose weight by myself post pregnancy however after about 2 years of trying, unfortunately my weight was not budging. Review of the Weight Loss Program: I was a member at JumpstartMD in 2013 and lost 30 pounds in just a few weeks. The lifestyle changes they teach you help you to keep this weight off, this is not a fad diet. I kept it off for years, but in the last couple of years, I have been struggling with my weight from the start of COVID, like most, so of course, my go-to place is JumpstartMD! I rejoined in March and just need to share that the program and the staff are amazing!!! From their Lead NP, Adrian Krutz, to their Nutritionists, Lisa and Afsi, to their Billing Dept., Margie, and last but not least, Christina, their clinic Coordinator, they are truly exceptional, supportive, uplifting, positive, and effective. I look forward to seeing them all! Review of the BHRT Program: I have also been going through perimenopause for several years, and my PCP told me four years ago that I was too young and there were "no tests" to check whether I'm in perimenopause. After joining the weight loss program, I inquired about the BHRT, which I never heard about before. All I can say is WOW! First, they run a panel of all your hormones. Once the results are back, then you have your initial consultation where Adrian goes into detail about the results and options. It was extremely educational. From there, you come up with a plan and test the hormone levels again in about 6 weeks to reevaluate. I can honestly say that this program has changed my life for the better thanks to JumpstartMD!! I am sleeping better, have more energy throughout the day, and truly have my mojo back! Seriously, just do it!!! I was very excited to join Jumpstart and begin losing weight. Sadly, none of their promises came true. The staff is quite perky and very good at sticking to their scripts. They are not as good at looking at you as an individual person. The diet is totally keto, even though they say it's not. I was always hungry, tired, nauseous and constantly thinking about food: what to buy, how to track it, what to cook. But mostly, I felt ignored. After three weeks I had only lost 5 pounds (I didn't cheat) and no one cared. Rahwe, the manager, told me to contact her at any time, she was here to help. She never responded to email. I was never given a valid link to their website to get recipes. No one ever answers the phone. The front desk person was rude. On my first visit, I arrived early. She said, in a snotty tone, "you're early. Everyone's at lunch. You'll have to wait." It's an expensive program when your insurance doesn't pay. Can not recommend this particular site. read more

JumpstartMD changed my life. If this plan can work for me, anyone can do it. The staff/clinicians here are personable, knowledgeable, and encouraging. There is little room left for uncertainty with the thorough amount of information and explanations of the plan that are given. The plan is keto based, and incorporates appetite suppressants and physical activity- basically helping you reset and create a new, healthy way of life. I honestly cannot recommend this program and specifically this location enough! I've tried so many diets, plans, programs, etc. and JumpstartMD, and the people, have changed my life. I joined in late February and have slowly and consistently lost weight, feeling better everyday. I'm down 45 lbs. I don't think I could have done it without the amazing care and support from Afsi and Adrian. Wow well since I was new, I didn't know who was the clinician and who wasn't. Nore did I read the fine print. That you had to see a clinician two times a month, for your PPO insurance plan, to reimburse you for 60% of your office visit. I'm very disappointed. The billing was not explain more clearly. Or I would have done everything to make sure I saw a clinician twice that month . Unfortunately this has costed me $778 for onl 2 months, and I attempted to quit after just the 3 visit, on my 1st full month, and was convinced to stay one more week. And when I tried to quit they told me that I was already billed for the fallowing month and they could not reimburse me, what I was already charged for the following month. Well all I could do is warn others not to make this mistake. Sorry that I ever signed up for jump start not for the people I saw during office visits they were all nice, But for the billing and super high price, And advance charges are just not fair for a Dr visit. I was not able to cancel. Which basically forced me to come in for two visits in one month just so that they can bill my insurance company, so that I wouldn't lose my refund. This is ridiculous. I'll be putting in a complaint to my insurance company as well, to tell them all this and advance payment for office visits. Disappointed to say the least. Not to mention Keto diet, pills and shots, was not for me! Gave me stomach issues!! read more

I've been doing this program for over a month and this is how I perceive it: No carbs High protein Eat very small amounts of food 5 times per day Drink a lot of water Take appetite suppressants (phentermine) See a "health coach" every week at their office and pick up your 7 phentermine pills for the next week $388 per month I definitely see how people lose weight. Taking phentermine makes you not eat, if you don't eat you will lose weight. I personally am not overly impressed and think it's insanely overpriced. read more

Waste of money and time. I am terribly disappointed in this program. I am someone who came to Jumpstart looking for a tangible and a sustainable weight loss program. Unfortunately, I was met with an unattainable diet "plan" and diet pills. I was herded in and out of my appointments with little support. Jumpstart told me I would be on Keto without understanding my journey with food, weight gain, and weight loss. I was HUNGRY, on pills, given shots, and tired (diet pills can cause insomnia) for $400 a month. When I raised concerns about what the diet pills were doing to my body they were denied and dismissed. I left early and thankful I didn't pay any more as it wasn't for me. read more

Started Jumpstart 5 weeks ago, and am down over 20lbs. I was ready to get healthier, and feel better over all. The diet makes sense; and is easier than u may think. It has been an incredible year and it also has been a very challenging one. The times when challenges seem to be winning, it makes me think of all the positive events and gifts of this year. Then the stress and the struggles seem to go back to where they came from. I have decided to lose weight this year because I was very tired of my doctor telling me how bad my blood test results are. It was very discouraging. There were always no changes. My cardiologist figuratively gave up on me the previous year because I was not going anywhere. Then I found a number of friends and family in my life who have decided to travel the fitness route. They had amazing results and life changing accomplishments that it inspired me. I admit I needed help. So I got into a medical program and began my journey. With the referral of my doctor, I started going to JumpstartMD and have been going to the Burlingame office. They helped with my diet specifically helping me with my food choices in spite of the obstacles I've been having. I started an exercise schedule and added more routines as it got easier. Many were noticing physical changes but I was still doubtful. However, they kept cheering me on and supporting me with the things I did. Currently, I have lost a maximum of 35 pounds, (started at 200) and got down 8 sizes for pants (beginning = size 38). Subsequently, I needed new clothes which it is truly a "Good Problem." But, even though the weight loss assistance and buying of new clothes put a strain on my finances, I am so grateful to all of you who have been been there for me from the beginning. My doctor recommended JumpStart MD. I needed knee replacements and had to lose 50+lbs prior to surgery. Full blood work up + EKG before you start. Every week they check blood pressure, heart, and you get a nutritional injection (not drugs). The health staff are professionals with appropriate education (M.D., nurse practitioner, advanced nutrition) and can have detailed conversations about your health. You will also get a periodic full body scan that tells you about your body--how much fat, water, dry lean mass, how it's distributed, BMI, BMR (how many calories you need just to exist). The diet approach is high protein, some fat (counter intuitive but true thing, fat is not bad for you, sugar is), and carbs of all kinds limited to fruits & vegetables, with exceptions. You track daily intake in a little book-easy enough. The first two weeks were tough, ever heard the term "hangry"? And going through sugar withdrawal... But, it got easier as my sugar/carb addiction waned. There might not be magic here but they offer tools. You do the work, with their help. All weight loss is that way, right? I'm pretty shocked to say this, but I'm sticking with it. JumpStart offered the medically supervised, structured program I need. The Burlingame crew has been really terrific. Very helpful, and proactive. April 2017 update: Well it's almost 12 months and I've lost about 100lbs. Yes I probably could do this on my own now, but the challenge is adjusting as you loose--your requirements for calories, etc., change (downward) as you lose. As always this crew is very good, so I'm sticking with them for the duration. read more

my feelings about jumpstartmd are mixed. there are positive, as well as, negative impressions. first the positive: the framework for the diet is great. if you can follow the regimen of drinking the required 60oz of water plus 40oz of other fluid, eating only the carbs and proteins which are allowed, and NOT indulge in any that are not allowed, you'll do great. if you're unable to follow this, then look elsewhere. fortunately for me, this is just what i needed, to be told what i can or cannot eat and how much of each, by measurement. going in on a weekly basis for a 'weigh-in' to track your progress helps with motivation. that's the total upside. and, of course, with the weight loss, comes "more energy, more clarity and an improved sense of well-being." now for the downside. the literature claims that they will partner with your physicians, but only if you request this. they start you off with a multivitamin, which is only good for 30 days, after 30 days you can purchase them, of course. many of the aids available, need to be requested. i would guess, if you have health issues, you wouldn't need to ask for help of professionals, this "team of experts including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, licensed therapists, fitness trainers, registered dietitians and bariatric specialists on hand to support your personal needs" would be freely provided. i found that after i followed this program with their assistance for two months, i was able to continue on my own with positive results. read more

I also started this program to try to assist in losing weight since I was planning on knee replacement after 4 years of limping and prior surgeries that didn't resolve the issues. So if there are physical limitations to exercise, this program is definitely helpful. I lost 52 pounds in 10 months with the weekly shots, fentermine and getting accustomed to very low carb intake. It took about a month to really get used to planning for meals without carbs but they have guides to help in this. It is expensive but I thought it was worth it for me and it made my surgery rehab much easier! read more

Great support system for reaching your weight goals. Weight loss s different for everyone, but in my case I really appreciate the individual attention and the regime they establish. The weekly visits are great and they verify your progress and what might not be working / or working for you particular circumstances.
