There are 15 campsites (FCFS) plus a small parking area for day use. CR 12 and FSR 706 are not paved, but any vehicle can travel the roads. The highlight of the campground is Lost Lake, a pristine alpine lake at 9600' elevation. The Beckwith Peaks are in the background. If you paddle across the lake (SUP or kayak - no motorized water craft) you get a stunning view of the Ruby Range. (No Ruby Range photos since I didn't bring my waterproof phone case this trip). The lake is dammed and is filled with snow runoff. Even in midJuly, the water was COLD. No chance in h e l l I was going to let myself fall off that SUP! But midJuly was prime time for the wild flowers. Lupine. Queen Anne's lace. Wild rose. Pentsemon. Sneeze weed. Cow parsnip. Fire weed. Absolutely stunning. I'm told the lake is stocked twice annually with rainbow trout. But I don't fish so can't verify. I did see lots of fishermen though.

Things have been changing over the last few years here. It was good to see they now have signs in different areas around campsites as where to walk, and where not to walk. They had a special program at the amphitheater on the Saturday that we were there, but they did not allow dogs, so I was unable to go. (I think different national parks and monuments handle this differently, as in Capitol Reef, in Utah, we have been invited to their night events when camping by the presenters themselves.) On recent trips, we have seen some strange things. But this past weekend (during an early and cool part of summer,) we were left stunned by some of the fellow campers. Originally, we booked on recreation.gov to camp for several days. When we arrived, we were able to move to the C section, which is no generators, and is generally more peaceful. Usually, most people are very respectful of other campers. There were young boys at the campsite next to ours who were very loudly discussing how they were killing ants with charcoal briquettes. Later, the father tells them to bury the briquettes in the dirt. The charcoal thing was a bit worrisome with the dry branches all around the campsites. Another night, at 3 AM, a young child is screaming and crying. A few minutes are understandable. This went on for over a half hour. While this campground and area will always be very special to me, camping in my own backyard in the suburbs is more peaceful than camping here during the summer.

We came from 6 nights in the mountains and spent 1 night in our rooftop tent on an electric river…read moresite. It was the perfect spot in Palisade. The bathhouse was very clean and convenient. One side of the building had men and women restrooms with showers. The other side had family bathrooms with one toilet, one shower, and one sink. The bathhouse was air conditioned which was very appreciated! It was hot out!!! While we were sitting around our firebox campfire, staff rolled up on a golf cart with fresh peaches to try that were picked that day. That was a nice surprise!

Staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. Loved the free coffee in the morning and their convenient store was very convenient and well stocked. Showers were always clean. There are real cherry trees along the property line.. I snuck a couple handfuls. I would like to see the tent camp site get a real bathroom but the port a potty was very very clean. Cleanest ones I've ever been in. They are located pretty close to downtown palisade. We walked like a mile to the bike rental shop. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others!

Easy in and out and backing into the spaces is pretty easy. Quiet with lots of mature trees for shade. Surrounded almost exclusively by horse pastures. Relaxing! THE BAD: Not much. No fire pits at the campsites and we like a fire in the evenings. The WiFi doesn't cover the vast majority of the campsites. We like camping here but need connectivity for remote work sometimes. Wish the owners would make that investment and extend the WiFi coverage. We camp here two or three times a year and would likely be more, and for more nights, if there was WiFi. Perhaps if they put in fire pits they could make enough money selling firewood to partially pay for the WiFi?

They are Marble RV park and campground now. We saw multiple marmot and also a friendly fox who was trying to find food. The fox drug off one of my friends shoes across our campsite and also some things from our neighbors were strewn over their campground. The tent areas were a little small probably enough room for one tent. At least at the site we had. Good thing we had 2 cars and were doing car camping. The host was friendly and did come in and check on us. The rates were good. If you know you are coming you might consider putting your reservation in, in advance. We did ours in may for august and slots were already filling up at that point. They have a nice bathroom with showers. They are well taken care of. There is a door lock with a key code to get in. Very beautiful views. Would definitely come back again.

If you want a Colorado Rocky Mountian experience that feels like you're a world away but only 10 minutes from the market, we can't recommend this one of a kind retreat enough!

The manager, Logan was so nice. He helped us out with an awkward situation re a neighbor's bright light, and he handled it very diplomatically. The one thing that disappointedly me was the laundry room and its facilities. $2.50 per SMALL washer (there were 3), and $1.50 per dryer (there were 4). The room seemed dirty, the dryers seemed dirty. The whole room needs some attention and love. I don't think we'll be traveling thru Glenwood Springs again, but you never know .... if we do, we'll be sure to reserve a campsite at Elk Creek Campground!

Walk in shower, kitchen and dog friendly. We had to book this very last minute and we were so glad it was clean. The campground has recently been purchased by Joe and Kendal and they have really made it nice. There are cabins and RV sites. There is a large game room and patio area that you can use as well. It is about 10 minutes outside of Gunnison. They are opening a coffee shop soon. Great views of the Blue Mesa. I highly recommend Sapinero Village.
