After enjoying a stay at one of Thunder Mountain Lodge's cabin a few months I decided to take advantage of one of their three hour guided snowmobiling tour up on the Grand Mesa. It was even better than I had expected! Our guide was very knowledgeable, not only of the snowmobiling part, but also of the geology and history of the area. She was very personable and safety conscious as well. We got to visit an overlook that gave us a view of several 14ers, the Uncompahgre Plateau, the San Juan, and the East Elk Mountains. The snowmobiles looked brand new and were well set up. Guided tours and unguided snowmobile rentals at Thunder Mountain Lodge is a great resource at a reasonable price for people like me who want to go riding several times a season without the expense and hassle of owning their own machines. read more

What a wonderful experience had by all. I took 6 friends for a weekend retreat here at Thunder Mountain Lodge. The cabin was very clean, and best of all the heater worked to keep us warm during the cold evenings. We scheduled to do a snowmobile tour for a 2 hour trip lead by a great gentleman named Jimbo. I can tell you all what a great guy Jimbo is. Very informative, easy going, made sure our group of 6 felt comfortable with our snowmobile's. Jimbo lead the pac and made sure we were all safe and was very personable. Anyone looking for a great time in a cabin that also offers the winter sport of snowmobiling please put Thunder Mountain Ridge on the top of your list and please don't forget to ask for Jimbo. Thunder Mountain Lodge was an amazing experience! Jeff and Jessica hospitably was one of a kind. If you are looking for a great place to get away and experience amazing views, cabin getaway, and fun adventures this is the spot to go. The cabins at Thunder Mountain Lodge are very clean and cozy. My friends and I booked a guided snowmobile tour and it was absolutely amazing as a beginner rider Jeff and Jessica showed us amazing views and trials pictures don't do this place justice. If you are thinking about a trip to Grand Mesa, CO this is the place to go no doubt! Also, an extra perk if your a coffee drinker Jeff and Jessica have an awesome coffee/ latte bar in the lodge! Our snowmobiling adventure at Thunder Mountain Lodge was awesome! They were ready for us when we arrived; provided us with warm clothing and boots; gave a quick orientation and off we went. Conditions were perfect and Jessica was a fantastic guide - leading us through gorgeous terrain at a pace that matched our skill levels. In a couple of spots where we bobbed down, Jessica was right on top of the task to get us back on track - she was our Wonder Woman! WOW!!! If you want an amazing time snowmobiling, this is the place to go. They are all so friendly. Jeff the tour guide knows the area and take you on the most gorgeous views you'll ever see. This was my son and I's first time in a snowmobile. They are so easy to ride and Jeff tells you before you go riding the in's and outs of the machine and the trails you'll be on. We didn't stay at the lodge but took a 2 hour guided snow machining (snowmobile) tour around the Grand Mesa. Jessica was so sweet, took us on a great mix of open and established trails/roads, fresh powder trailblazing, open field romping, and more challenging hills and valleys. It was a gorgeous, scenic experience with stops for photos, and the hot chocolate was the perfect ending. Great location, great family, and even better experience for the whole family! read more

This place is really cool, been there twice in the last four years or so. I've only been there in the winter time so I haven't seen a blade of grass but both times snowmobiling was fantastic. I can't say enough about the owners and staff, knowledgeable, friendly and cool to see them starting a family there. The cabins are great and snowmobiling is incredible, you don't have to go very far to find lots of areas to play in. read more

My wife and I didn't stay at the Thunder Mountain Lodge, but we did thoroughly enjoy a guided snowmobiling tour that was hosted by the Lodge. Our guide, Rick, as absolutely awesome, and made our 3 hour tour through the surrounding area an absolute blast. We had my mothers 80 birthday at the Thunder Mountain Lodge the end of October. The cabins were clean and very nice to stay in. The beds were comfortable, the linens were clean. The staff was wonderful when we checked in. The views of the lake were fantastic. They have snow machines to rent if you want.
