I went back and this time I tried their Tres Leches cake, the small container for $5.99. It was delicious!! One of the best cakes I have ever tried. I placed an order via their site (local by toast) and it was ready within 10 minutes. Parking is always a challenge around the area. Look for metered parking on Broadway. read more

Came here again and they have way more variety now, lots of cookies and brownies and fancy things. I had the Kit Kat Tart and chocolate Dubai brownie. Both excellent, the brownie was more like fudge. But not super sweet. Very rich and dense and had the crunch of pistachio and kataifi. The Kit Kat Tart was crumbly, tasted like a deconstructed Kit Kat and also not too sweet. Very good. Shared both with my husband and we loved it. read more

I just ordered from them via DoorDash. The Banana pudding was nasty. Keep in mind, I'm from the South, so I have a standard. There were no bananas. I kid you not. It tasted like instant pudding with a few generic brand Nila wafers. I also ordered chocolate covered strawberries. I've ordered from them before from here, and they've been ok. After all, how do you screw them up. They were mediocre tonight. Did management leave the building and put some second cousin twice removed in charge???? Yikes!!! My last order. read more

Last year my fiance and I ordered a chocolate raspberry birthday cake from a local, expensive and well-known bakery in our Grove Street area. It was pretty, full raspberries throughout and layered perfectly. Then you go to eat it, this was the biggest $160 mistake I've ever imagined. 80% of the cake remained untouched at the party. Now Julius.... I ordered this online on their very easy to use app. I think it was a steal for what I got, price-wise. Look and taste wise this was perfect. I cannot believe the taste and it's extra of this chocolate mousse cake. The service was quick, just an easy pickup. The store is beautifully decorated and everything is mouth-watering. This is quite a bit further from my house, however, this is my new bakery. Maybe I can talk them into making my wedding cake in May! read more

I almost NEVER leave a review for an establishment. But I just had one of (if not) the best twisted donuts of my life so far from them. Soft and pillowy with a good amount of bounce to the dough. I also got the marshmallow brownie and it is so dense and rich but not too overly sweet. The prices were very reasonable for the size of the product. So glad I found this business near me, will definitely be trying their other desserts in the future. read more

Finally a bakery that makes cannoli and sfogliatelle the traditional way...with real ricotta and citrus zest. I was craving a sweet pick me up after a month of strict dieting, but didnt wanna order the usual muffin or chocolate chip cookie. I found Julius and they had sfogliatelle in their menu...it's been 20 years since I had a sfogliatelle, so I ordered them and they were amazing! The real thing. Scrumptious with a cup of black coffee balancing the enveloping sweet pastyness of the ricotta filling. They are small size and flaky. I got three to share with my son. He love them too. Julius is now our go to bakery. They make weekend nights truly special. read more

Fresh slices is an issue here. They are very inconsistent and it's frustrating because you never know what you're going to get. Today is Valentine's Day and their pineapple slices were so bad i had to throw them out. Their strawberry slices have been stale in the past. I want to keep supporting but it's always a catch 22, you just pray you catch them on a good day and get a good slice. read more

We received dessert as a gift from another fan of this bakery on Thanksgiving. Cannolis and eclairs. We ordered a custom cake from Julius Bakery for my son's 6th birthday and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. They did a phenomenal job. The design was exactly what we asked for and the cake tasted incredible. Honestly, it was the best birthday cake I've had in a long time. So many bakeries make cakes that are overly sweet, but this one was perfectly balanced and full of flavor. Everyone at the party loved it. Everyone in Bayonne should go to this bakery. It is so incredible. I have been there several times and I am always amazed not only at the variety of choices, but the quality of anything and everything I have ever gotten there. Everything is fresh and the staff is amazing. The owner is there to speak to and will do anything you want if it isn't there and his staff is friendly and informative and engaging. It is a pleasure to go to this bakery. I have ordered so many things from there from simple cookies to a pie and I have never been disappointed. In fact they have always been beyond my expectations so everybody and Bayonne should plan a trip there one day and see what a terrific bakery there really is in Bayonne. I know you may think some things are a little pricey, but they really aren't compared to what you get elsewhere and in the long run, it is well worth your money. Try it you will love it. Even when you walk into the bakery you just feel so good because everything is so beautiful and appealing and the people who work there make it a wonderful experience read more

3.5 stars (I want to…read morepreface that my review is for a single rainbow cookie, so take it for what it's worth; I just want to make sure that I have a record of it as a place I have tried.) I absolutely adore rainbow cookies, so I was thrilled to see a platter of them from the Paulanto Bakery at a party that I was attending in the area. Since there were several appealing desserts on offer, I only grabbed one of the colorful morsels, but I just found it mediocre. I felt that there was not enough chocolate around the edges and the coating that was there seemed more like light, milk chocolate than it did like the traditional rich, dark chocolate. I also thought the cookie would have benefitted from more almond paste or even a dedicated layer of marzipan. With that being said, it was very fresh and had the perfect consistency. If I see them again, I will gladly give them another try.

Sometimes the cakes were overly too sweet to the point where my teeth hurts. But maybe that's just my preference so you can discard. You might love sweet sweet cakes but sometimes it is the perfect sweetness. However, the one thing that I find difficult about the bakery is the level of freshness. It's a gamble! On 3 different occasions I have asked the counter girls (who are all very nice btw) if the pastries were baked the same day. Out of the 3 visits there was a young lady that was extremely honest and told me which was made today and which was baked yesterday. I appreciated her honesty, and at that visit, the cakes that were baked same day were delicious, fresh and soft totally 4.5 stars. However, the following next few visits it wasn't that great. I would ask the same question and another young girl would answer it was all the same day which is not true because out of the slices I bought (and four cake slices this past week) only half were very soft and fresh. The other two were stale and some of the cream was sticky. I mean is it annoying that I ask ? Sure. But if it was all baked same day and have consistency I wouldn't need to ask all the time. I keep coming back hoping I get fresh cakes every time. I do love that they close at 9 PM so if you are very desperate for something sweet, then they are the spot to go to. Otherwise, this place is a gamble, hit or miss, which is unfortunate because I live so close to here, I can always walk down the street. The store itself is efficient with many counter assistants, fast service, they take card or cash and the prices are very affordable. No places to sit but it's alright. Unfortunately I didn't finish any of the slices in photo. $18 down the drain. Maybe I'll get better luck next time.

Youstina at Julius Bakery is an absolute gem! She made my experience 10x better than it already was. When I stopped by on Monday night, she not only took my order but also made me feel like a welcomed friend. We need more servers like her in Bayonne!! I settled on a Mille-feuille that had layers of dulce de leche. A small pastry for a modest price of 1.30 it was the perfect size, not overly sweet and it was delicious! It was very cold, and tasted like it was previously frozen unfortunately. The staff were really friendly and the decor inside is so cute. It's extremely clean and has plenty of tables and a bathroom in the back. Lots of other people were eating burgers, sandwiches on rolls or croissants. I would definitely come back and try some other things! Looks like a great place for lunch or something sweet.

I placed a last-minute order for a Dominican cake with pineapple filling because I had guests over, and it was a hit! I'm not usually a big fan of pineapple, but my guests couldn't stop raving about it and kept asking where it was from that's a win in my book! The service was just as sweet as the cake the staff here are incredibly kind and welcoming. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because parking is such a challenge. I went by myself and was lucky that a gentleman cleaning the business next door told me I could block their driveway while picking up my cake. If he hadn't been there, I definitely would've struggled to find a spot. Even though it's a bit of a drive from home, I'd come back to try other flavors but fair warning, parking is rough.
