So I want to emphasize that. If you train with her she will text you to make sure you're on track and she's ALWAYS smiling! I love it! Even when I'm complaining and asking how much longer until we're done, she just laughs and (even though she doesn't think so) makes the time go by quickly and pleasantly. Also, she's in insane shape...whenever I don't want to work out, all I have to do is look at her and it is instant motivation. I've only been to one of her Insanity classes but her private coaching is phenomenal...if you're looking for a trainer, call her ASAP! P.S. Her hashtag #smile2getfit (also her Instagram handle) is the most adorable thing ever

Her workout was a bit intense, but the biggest thing is that it just kept going. You really get your workout here! We started off by signing waivers, and meeting everyone in the class, getting together to take a group photo, and then it was time for the workout. Lauren had a very nice playlist prepared that kept everyone motivated and energized throughout the full workout. There was somewhat of a warmup section that turned out to be the first round of the insanity coaching and led into the next few sections of the workout. I would recommend this class to any and everyone! Looking for something fun to do with friends and want to sweat and get everyone pumped at the same time, GO TO THE CLASS! Trying to figure how to get your body ready for the summer that is already here, GO TO THE CLASS! Just want an awesome experience with some great people??? GO TO THE CLASS! I definitely will be attending another!

They have gear for everyone, except the hardcore powerlifter (meaning no 100 lb plates, jack racks, platforms, bar jack for deadlift loading, competition bench, or chalk stand.) They DO have squat racks, Smith machines, flat and incline benches, a range of dumbbells up to 140 lbs, and an array of basic HammerStrength machines. The bonus for me is that they have FreeMotion machines, which are the bomb for plane-and-range-of-motion training. They've also got assorted tubing, medicine and stability balls, and Bosus. In case someone from DAC reads this, it would be super-cool if you could install a TRX rack or two. Approximately half the work-out space is devoted to cardio machines, and there's an upstairs where classes are held. I always thought DAC was great for families. It's located at Cox Park where the baseball and soccer fields are. So, it's convenient if the family is involved in those activities as well. However, they do not have a pool; nor do they have a sauna, steam or whirlpool. No big deal for me, but some people demand those things.

I am visiting from out of town this week and I needed a place to work out....b/c all I do is eat when I'm in Memphis. I just happened to find UFK online via martial arts search and I'm glad that I did. They just moved to a new location and the facility is very nice. I've been taking the kickboxing classes every day this week and...YES!! I'M SORE! The lactic acid buildup is fabulous. The bags that they use are muay thai bags - so they're VERY solid/hard....great for conditioning the shins (if you plan on using them as lethal weapons). Every class I've taken this week has been different - Tony and John shake things up, keep it interesting, keep you moving....and if you're not soaked by the end of class, you're slacking. They also do personal training and other martial arts. Highly recommended.
