We initially met Carla at Château du Feÿ, where she was employed. After a disappointing experience with another planner, we hired Carla 5 months before our wedding, hoping her 3+ years of specialized venue expertise would be invaluable. To our surprise, Carla had not worked with half of our vendors before - even though they were part of the short list of recommended vendors provided by the venue. Despite her website's claims, Carla's design suggestions felt generic and lacked the personalized touch we were looking for. Carla's lack of attention to detail became increasingly apparent as we worked with her. Our wedding had many unique and custom details. Lots of information that a seasoned wedding planner would be able to keep an attentive handle on. The mounting oversights caused significant stress in the final weeks leading up to the wedding. We were genuinely anxious that our vision wouldn't be realized. Luckily, we had multiple vendors and family friends that helped Carla execute the event. As the bride, I distanced myself as much as possible from Carla to allow myself to enjoy the day without frustration. This is not the typical experience. While we appreciate Carla's willingness to take us on with short notice, and she did have some helpful insights regarding sourcing a local florist and unique videographers, her lack of attention to detail ultimately overshadowed those positives. During the reception, they played songs our guests didn't really know - but that's more my fault of not being more specific of the crowd/demographic's taste in music during the week before consultation. Tip for those still planning your weddings: give genres and SPECIFIC artists you want the DJ to play throughout the night! The absolute highlight of everyone's night was the Photo Booth, which was manned by Jeff's dad, Chris (?? It was loud and hard to hear - sorry if I got his name wrong!). He was so sweet giving us ideas on how to pose for the different shots, made sure everyone got a copy of photos, put together the ENTIRE scrapbook for us, AND made sure everyone signed/write a message for us. The scrapbook was we filled from front to back with messages and photos, and it's something we will cherish and look back on for the rest of our lives. As a couple not from Buffalo, Toy Bros were super easy to work and communicate with even without being in person.

I came across Expressions Studios and their photography + Videography package was too good to pass up on. Not only did it include a full wedding day coverage, but because we were getting married at Avanti Mansion, we also got an engagement photography session. After a couple of phone calls with them, we decided to choose them for our wedding. We had Paul, Alexandra (photographer), and Aaron (videographer) work on our wedding. For our engagement photoshoot in a garden, Alexandra was able to guide us through poses that made it look natural and also allowed us to do our own thing to make our personalities shine through the photos. She also has a great eye for finding good angles and backgrounds. We were so happy with the photos and couldn't wait for the wedding day. Leading up to the wedding day, we had a phone call to discuss the important shots and moments we want highlighted. For our wedding day, both Alexandra and Aaron captured the best moments of the day. They were able to move around so quickly and get all the angles, but we barely noticed them. We got our photos about a month after our wedding. They gave us ALL 1000+ photos they took with color enhancements (sepia, black&white, or color). It took awhile to go thru and choose photos where everyone's eyes are open - but I personally preferred it this way and being able to choose my own photos I want to keep. We got our 12 min video and 1 min highlight video at the same time around 1.5 months after the wedding - I was hoping to get the 1 min trailer sooner after the wedding to relive the day, but the 12 min version was definitely worth the wait.

I had suggested to the girls to choose Buducci's, on the recommendation of a friend. This wound up being a HUGE mistake! We met with Vincenne last year, to discuss pricing and other details. She gave us a price and said that if we booked at that time, we would be locked in at that price, so after some phone tag and some time passing because she was out of town, she was provided a deposit and we booked. She also said if there was no event going on the day before, that we could decorate a day ahead. As we got closer to the date of the wedding, we contacted her. We were told that the price had gone up. The girls just let that go, even though we were supposed to be "locked in", and attributed it to covid, and seemingly everything costing more now. She said that there wasn't an event the day before the wedding but that she would not be in town so we couldn't decorate the day before. Since we would be decorating the day of, we asked if we could have the girls get ready there, that way we would save time and do it all at once. She agreed until A FEW DAYS before the wedding, she informed my girls that we could decorate the day before because she made arrangements to "accommodate us." Great! But we still needed to get ready there because we had our timeline situated and it didn't account for transportation and we told the photographer, hair and makeup we'd be doing it there. When we verified we would still be getting ready there, she said no, she ASSUMED that meant we'd be getting ready at home. This was because Vincenne was now attending another wedding the day before and, while she kept insisting she was accommodating us, it became clear she was trying to accommodate no one but herself. No one would be there to let us in. When my daughter told Vincenne that this would be a huge inconvenience, since everything had already been planned, she got quite snippy with my daughter on the phone, telling her she hadn't even spoken to the bride yet, and hadn't received a check yet. My daughter reminded her, that this was a surprise for the bride, and also told her that she would be willing to bring her a check right then and there, if she would only give her an exact TOTAL, which she had not given as of yet. Then Vincenne said just give it to her on the day of the wedding. When my daughter spoke to her again, she said we could get ready the day of, at a business that is right next door to the venue, but made sure that she complained to my daughter that it would be a huge inconvenience for the owner of that business for us to use the space. She then also said that we could in fact decorate the day before, but she would have to pay someone to be there while we did so. Who cares!! Don't go back in your word and then complain when you have to somehow accommodate!! Then, here we are, the day of the wedding. We had the venue until 11:00 p.m. but at 8:30 there is Vincenne, taking down tables in the corner, suddenly the bright lights go on, making it look to our guests like it's time to "close up shop!" The open bar time frame had just ended and it switched to a cash bar. Well we had 3 people standing in line to get drinks while Vincenne had the bartender taking down our dessert table, so there was no bartender!!!! Our guests just went and sat down without getting a drink. In our videos of our family on the dance floor, we have Vincenne rolling her cart in the middle of the video collecting things off the tables. I would not recommend this venue to my worst enemy!! In my 67 years, I have NEVER come across anyone running a business, that was so unprofessional, rude and ignorant!! I had read a few reviews saying that she had unexpectedly shut down events and made people leave. But since we saw more good reviews than bad, and it being recommended by a friend, we decided to go with this venue. Like I said ... HUGE mistake!!! Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place!

This venue is so much more than just the gorgeous room and building. Every step of the process had a very personal touch. The Admiral Room staff were accommodating beyond what would be expected of a venue. If we needed or thought of anything at all, they were only a phone call away. Our favorite part of the planning stage was our 100-day meeting/food tasting. That's when we met Josh- who would ensure everything ran perfectly smooth, and Chris- the head chef. They were both the type of people who can meet you, and it just feels like you've known each other for a while already. We went over the menu and schedule of events in detail, but at the same time it felt like we were just hanging out. They were extremely willing to tailor every aspect of the event to exactly what we wanted. It was a welcome change from the normal stress of wedding planning. Thanks to this amazing team, our big day went even better than we could have imagined. We had guests coming up to us and complimenting every little thing, from the outstanding food, to the bar staff, and wait staff. Because of the built-in sound system, everyone could hear all of the ceremony. We had both a band & DJ for the reception, which both sounded great as well. The Admiral Room will always hold a special place in our hearts, and if we could do it all over again, we'd absolutely do it the same way.
