It's slim, has great info in it, such as phone numbers from city government, to hotels, stores, police precincts, zip codes AND phone area codes, subway maps, and much more. This year I also bought some wonderful magnets with great sayings on them. The SERVICE IS EXCELLENT HERE!!! I usually call to make sure they have the datebook in stock, and then I head over. And then I get some great food at one of the food places just steps from the POSMAN Book Store. You can also enjoy some Ben & Jerry's ICE CREAM at the scoop shop near the book store. In fact this location do not carry any journals nor diaries, or even postcards remotely close for tourists. I would imagine they would have printed matter for tourist but none of postcards or greeting cards, due to the size of this retail space. The associates are callous and inattentive to my prescence or needs. Walking in is somewhat magical, it feels like a concept store but everything on display is available for sale. It's really eye candy in full force and maybe feeling you like having this imaginary closet of jewels to yourself for a short moment. It doesn't seem like the walls are organized in any particular way. The packaging also seems uber luxe for that customer they were preparing for. Some repeats of the same items on both walls, but the bigger pieces on display are some definite show stoppers.

My tattoo artist Tamara Santibañez along with singer Victoria Ruiz of Downtown Boys and Natalia Mantini would be discussing a current, auto biographical, punk, Latina icon Alice Bag's book "Violence Girl". I highly recommend checking out the book and attending the talks. I was able to catch the last one and I loved discussing major themes and cultural importance in the novel. Growing up in Southern California and going into punk in my later years brought back a lot of memories. Many people can relate to this book because it's not just about being in a band but having those ups and downs of growing up. There's one more group gathering September 3rd. There's also English classes, yoga, knitting and I imagine this is just the beginning. This place is already planted the seed in the community. I was more then excited to tell my friends about this place and I definitely had to share with my yelp homies. Back to the store. There's a great array of novels, zines, poetry, children's books and romance novels. It's a very curated collection. You can also find some delicious Cuban coffee and some locally made baked goods.
