2 piece chicken. A LOT of food.
    Angela P.

Got the 2 piece chicken and it was way too much food for me. Everything was delicious. The meat from the chicken falls off the bone. The curry is delicious with good flavor. I love plates with a good amount of vegetables. Great price for the amount of food you get. Mango juice was too watery in my opinion though. They were out of samosas. It is posted that this is not fast food and so the food doesn't come out fast. I only had to wait less than ten minutes. Friendly staff.

$6 Beef stew with rice meal.

Value with home style cooking? Look no further. For $6 meal you get either rice or spaghetti with Chicken, lamb or beef stew. I never tried the spaghetti since I'm a rice guy. The rice they use is basmati rice and full of flavors and spices. for $9 meal you get of course, the larger meal. e.g. 2 chicken legs instead of one. My favourite meal is the rice with beef stew, it comes with vegetables on the rice. The free salad that comes with the meal shouldn't be there, but the meal it self is big, even the $6 meal is big and will fill you up. Why eating fast food and there is Jubba? The place is not fancy and caters to University students who look for cheap meals. To keep the prices low, most of the time the 2 owners will take the order, serve the food and work the cash register!

Chicken on rice with salad and beef on rice with salad - both under $7 for lunch

It is really hard to find a relatively decent restaurant in Windsor. I am so glad and thankful to Yelp for this find! Located at the end of a street, this hole in the wall is easy to miss if you're driving. Don't let the outside of this place fool you, this restaurant is a rare gem of a find. There seems to be just one person there who is the owner, chef and server from East Somalia who grew up in Toronto and had traveled the States before deciding to land shop here in Windsor, a place he loves and said he wouldn't move from. His cooking style has developed from different restaurants he has been to that he liked that eventually led him to create a fusion of Italian, Indian and African cuisine that he has wonderfully mastered. I was particularly fond of his chicken dish over rice and the spaghetti with beef both served with salad both under $7 each for lunch. Generous portions, small yet clean and well maintained interiors, amazing prices and a very friendly and super nice owner, makes this place a hit with college students and people travelling through. Jubba will have my loyal business for dine in and take out in Windsor. Tips: Call ahead to check on opening times, we got there at 1:30 pm and the restaurant had just opened and their hours indicated they open at 10:30 am. Also, spaghetti is served only after 2 pm. Parking on the street is $1.50 per hour.

Curried goat was tender! The green hot sauce gave it an additional kick and the rice was also great! We saw others getting a chicken dish which looked good. Maybe next time.

I'm from metro Detroit and cross into Windsor at least twice a month for Jubba. If you don't like choices... this is the place for you. It's literally rice or spaghetti and either chicken or beef. You can also be daring And get both meats. Nothing more- nothing less. Eat and be happy. Mr. Jubba does not disappoint. Oh yeah..... try the mango juice!

The food was really good at a good price. The chicken was well seasoned and literally melted off the bone. The rice and sauces were also good condiments. They even give you nice mango juice that complements the food. If you have a weak stomach (like me), don't eat the spicy green sauce, it can mess up your stomach afterwards. However, since it isn't a fast food place, be ready to wait around 15-20 min for your food. There's no parking spaces (that we could find) for the restaurant, so be prepared to street park. Don't be surprised (like me) if you are coming to stop by from America, because the prices on the menu are NOT the prices you will be paying in American dollars.

A brewery in Windsor recommended this as the best ethnic restaurant around. It didn't disappoint. Not much to look at but the food was great. Waiter recommended the chicken and beef. Excellent flavors. Killer basmati rice too. Now we can check Somali food off our list, which we didn't even know was on our list this morning.

Never heard of this place before but we decided to try it out based on the reviews on Yelp. It turned out to be a great African food place. Huge portion for what you pay. The chicken in particular was really good as it was very tender. The gravy rounded up a satisfying meal.

Excellent food. The volume of food is better than other restaurants in Windsor. Service was quick. Highly recommended.

I have consistently come here to get food throughout the years and it has been so rewarding to continue to see Yum Village be such a pillar in the city and in the food industry! The service here is incredible, you don't bus anything yourself. I also noticed that the staff that day was all women, from everyone front of house to the chefs in the back as well preparing the food, which was extra fun! They are so attentive to us and even when there was a snaffoo with on of my party's orders. They paid with cash and I think perhaps that messed up the tracking of the order through the system? I'm not entirely sure. As for the food, Yum Village has maintained some of the same dishes throughout the years, while also adding and/or rotating a ton of other dishes through the menu. I can definitely confirm that the garlic parm jerk chicken remains my favorite and that the spice level, while still plentiful and intense, has eased up a bit in recent years. Either that or that I have become more spice heat-tolerant! Either way, the portions also remain huge, so there was a ton of food to take home! I love the truffle collard greens, the deeply unique and flavorful corncakes, and also the star of the show this go around was the deliciously complex fried cheesy fufu! It oozes so much flavor and is the perfect addition to any meal and very shareable as well! Keep up the great work, Yum Village!!

Everything was DELICIOUS! A kind of spicy that slowly builds too, which I found really pleasant. I also tried bites off some of friends' orders, like a bit of cornbread, the fried cheesy fufu, the garlic parm chicken. Everything was so good. Huge portions! Even the smallest size option was enough food to have leftovers for at least another big meal. They have bigger size options too for the extra hungry. Only bumping it down a star because they had some trouble with one of my friends' order. I guess it didn't go through to the kitchen, but one of the ladies noticed and asked my friend for her receipt so they could get her food going. However, seemed like they then lost that too because it wasn't until after two of us got our food and had been munching for a bit that they realized no one had started on our friend's order. Came out fast after that. Easily 5 stars without the ordering hiccup!

For two people, without reservations, we waited about 30 minutes on an early Saturday evening. Well with the wait. The interior was nicely designed and the staff were very attentive. Chicken was super tender, rice was cooked well, corn salad added a nice touch of freshness, and the plantains were good too. A very filling meal, I'm surprised I was able to finish it all. I also asked the waitress which dish is the most popular and they told me the Samaki is their #1 seller. I tired half/half on the rice on my first visit, this visit I went with spiced rice pilau only. I'm not a fan of coconuts, while the coconut rice doesn't have a overpowering coconut flavor, spiced rice will be my to go moving forward. Nyumbani, while decent, the meat was bit under seasoned to my taste. Kuku was the better over Kuhuhana. Mbuzi - the goat shank was lukewarm when we got it, it was bit hard to break the meat off the bone, but worth trying at least once. Service was superb on both visits, water bottle gets refilled w/o asking, and great experience. While I won't be able to make it out often, definitely will be on my list of places to revisit while in Detroit area.
