He is very humble and does not advertise at all to promote his school. Many of his students find him by word of mouth. He actually has an unrelated full time job at night. He is an amazing teacher and makes sure his students learn the right way to do things. He is not a factory for handing out black belts for an expensive price. In fact he is the most reasonably priced and the most flexible of all other places I know. We go when we want, up to 3 times a week, either at 4:30p or 5:30p during the week or 8:30a in the morning on Saturdays. We have been going to him for 2 years now. Several parents actually take the class with their kids. He is great with adults and terrific with children. He doesn't just teach taekwondo, he teaches self-defense, discipline (which is great for young kids), patience and more. There are many families who have been going to him for years. Some have even went to other places and eventually came back to him. I have four kids and tons of extracurricular activities every day. We have gotten more out of going to Master Silveus than any other activity yet. He most definitely has my five star rating!!!!

I really like the space of the gym--- there's 2 levels training on the main floor and space up above for activities. From time to time they offer special days and events--- date nights for parents, father and son events, etc... kids get a lot of great training and I know it's already been beneficial for my son. Also had a great chance to meet Evaldo Lima (founder neutral grounds) at a special class for this kids, was really cool to my son being trained by and sparring with him.

I stepped into this gym and found exactly what I was looking for. Coach Matt is a black belt instructor that really knows his stuff. I am already good at my striking game but my ground game is laughable. He's been coaching me for a few months now and I have seen major improvements. I'm not trying to be an MMA fighter or anything. But sometimes I feel the need to defend myself and I need to be ready against anybody. My glaring weakness would be against somebody on the ground. So I could say now that I am comfortable with any fighting style. Anyways, I would suggest this gym to anybody who wants to learn some self defense or just want a great workout. It's also good for people that are serious about fighting as well. I've heard there are kids classes as well. All in all, this place is a great find and you should definitely be taking classes here.

This is traditional TaeKwonDo so that means you are learning discipline and strength. Through five years I earned my black belt first degree. I did acknowledge the other reviews and I agree there are kids who are very distracting. Most parents who enroll their kids here often think of it as a "drop your kid off" type of school and they will magically learn confidence and discipline. That is not it at all if you are a parent looking into program for your child. You yourself should practice and help your child grow. Looking back at the school now from an older point of view. I can see how this environment for adult beginners can be distracting from the younger kids. I loved my experience here and Im so glad I found a place where I could find responsibility and self control as a kid.

I have attended and trained at Ahn's Tae Kwon Do for over 12 years starting in 2004. I cannot begin…read moreto express how big of an impact Masters H.P and Chun Ahn have made on my life. Gaining self-confidence, self-esteem, discipline, and respect barely scratches the surface of the skills and life lessons that I've obtained during my tenure at Ahn's. On a physical level, I can guarantee that Master Ahn provides an excellent workout regimen that is shaped by one's own physical ability. Master Ahn is able to quickly find what your physical and mental limits are and will push you to keep surpassing those limits. He will not compare you to any other student and will find a different way for everyone to succeed. If your goal is to be a healthy athlete, then Master Ahn will tailor your workout to be more strenuous and complex. If your goal is improve your balance, flexibility, and coordination, then Master Ahn will provide a completely different style of workout to match your goal. Whatever your goal may be, Master Ahn is incredibly capable of providing an individualized experience that is suited for students of all ages. Ahn's TKD truly shines in improving the mental strength of their students, especially those starting from a young age. I started at the age of 7 and was able to experience a multitude of situations that any normal student wouldn't be able to in a traditional public school education. For example, Ahn's allows students to create healthy and competitive relationship with their peers. This environment is created by students learning techniques and forms together, practicing kicks and warming up together, and fighting against each other in controlled sparring. This means that students are able to foster instant and meaningful relationships with their peers in an environment that promotes personal advancement in a literal (through belt tests), physical and mental sense. As both a student and an instructor, I both created for myself and witnessed the creation of many long lasting friendships and relationships at Ahn's Tae Kwon Do. Tae Kwon Do was the defining part of my childhood, and I would not be the person I am today without Tae Kwon Do. It certainly takes time to reap the rewards and see the benefits of enrolling at Ahn's, but I can guarantee that Master Ahn provides the best environment to allow you to succeed, learn, and grow.

NTA is focused on traditional, Iwama-style Aikido for both kids and adults…read more NTA has regular adult classes Tuesday through Friday in the evening with additional noon classes on both Tuesday and Thursday. The noon classes are typically very small (2-3 students) and are therefore great opportunities for training and one-on-one time with the Dojo-cho/Sensei Russell Alvey. As Iwama Aikido also features weapons training in the form of a wooden sword (bokken) and a wooden staff (jo), adults have the option of attending a weapons specific class on Saturdays. Russ Sensei is very passionate and strives to deliver traditional, Japanese-style of training. The facilities (dojo) is also very traditional in its design, operation and the lack of air-conditioning. The dojo does have hydronic heating for the winters and I have trained during both the heat of the summers and the cold of the winters and it is no where near as bad as it sounds. It is actually invigorating during the winter and cleansing during the summer. Just remember to hydrate :) I believe NTA is the best option for Iwama Aikido in Texas today. If you are interested in "real" Aikido, I would highly suggest a visit.
