The gym itself is very well kept and is definitely one of the cleanest gyms I've ever been to. They do offer private lessons, and with Master Lee's background, whose a 6th-degree black belt who trained under renown taekwondo instructor Grandmaster Yim, you won't find better in the DFW-area! Lastly, they're great about communication and showing care for their students' well-being and progress. During my deployment to the Texas border, I began training Muay Thai at Fortitude MMA in McAllen. I had no idea that stepping into that gym would change my life. I quickly fell in love with the art--the discipline, the respect, the challenge, and the constant pursuit of becoming better than I was yesterday. When my deployment ended and I returned home to Dallas, I was determined to continue that journey. Unfortunately, finding a true Muay Thai gym proved much harder than I expected. Most schools I visited were primarily Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academies where Muay Thai felt like an afterthought. I started to wonder if I'd ever find a place that captured the same passion and authenticity I had experienced before. I reached out to my former coaches, and without hesitation they recommended Boon Martial Arts. From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew I had found what I had been searching for. The coaching is world-class, but what truly sets Boon apart is the way every class is structured. Every drill has a purpose. Every technique builds on the last. The pace pushes you to improve while never leaving you behind. And if you ever struggle, your teammates are right there to help you. It's the kind of environment where everyone genuinely wants to see each other succeed. More importantly, Boon Martial Arts did something I never expected--it made me fall in love with Muay Thai all over again. This gym gave me a completely new perspective on the art. It reminded me that Muay Thai isn't just about punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. It's about humility, discipline, growth, and becoming part of a family that challenges you to be your best every single day. Whether you're a complete beginner, someone looking for a new hobby, or a seasoned fighter preparing for competition, I honestly can't think of a better place to train. Boon Martial Arts has earned my respect, my loyalty, and my highest recommendation. If you're searching for authentic Muay Thai, incredible coaching, and a culture that makes you excited to come back every day, don't waste your time looking anywhere else. Walk through the doors, trust the process, and you'll understand exactly why so many people proudly call Boon Martial Arts their home.

It's not just a belt to me - it is a symbol of all the hard work, and determination I've put in over the years. When I first started, I didn't know much about martial arts. I had a lot of admiration for the higher belts and the black belt students who I saw during belt promotions. But as I continued training, I realized it's about way more than just impressive moves. At USTA, they teach us to be strong not only on the outside, but on the inside too. I had to learn discipline, respect, and how to stay focused even when things get hard. There were times I wanted to give up, especially when I couldn't get a kick right. But my instructors, classmates, and family always encouraged me, and I kept going. The process of qualifying for my black belt has been super intense. I had to demonstrate excellence in everything I learned--forms, sparring, board breaking, and self-defense. I was anxious, but I am also ready. When I finally tie that black belt around my waist, I think it will feel like I can accomplish anything. As part of my practice, I help younger students and try to set a good example for them. USTA has taught me that being a black belt can be the beginning of a bigger journey. I'm excited to keep learning and growing. I know there will be more challenges ahead, but now I believe in myself. That's what earning a black belt at USTA means to me."

Still, I realized after my first month that I enjoyed taekwondo as it is, and my goal changed from just getting to learn Bo staff To Learning these skills and kicks such as the whip kick and starting just to feel more comfortable with myself. To get to black belt, you must learn its concepts and apply them in real life. Along my journey to a black belt and the journey beyond, I've learned Patience, Discipline, and Focus, amongst other things, but those three have helped me the most in my day-to-day life. Committing to this journey has been one of the best decisions of my life, I've grown so much as a person, When I started i wasn't used to the physical strain this could have in terms of pushing my body, In the years i've been here i've gained so much strength both mentally and physically and I hope to continue growing in both for as long as I can. Learning to trust myself was the first part of my journey with USTA, and getting to black belt will be the next Step in my journey. My journey may have started with learning to trust myself, and this may be the next step in my journey, but it is far from over. As a whole, this journey I'm partaking in has helped me grow so much, and I hope to continue growing along with the others at this academy for as long as I can. -Heather H.

His training will whip you into shape with different drills every class. If you ever considered trying martial arts come here, it's the place to be. Personally I'm looking forward to training here for a long time. Adult classes are mornings I think 11ish. Mostly kids in the afternoons and adults in the evenings and Saturday mornings. Black belts have their own classes, private classes are available too. There are many adults that do attend mid 20 somethings, parents of children students, working professionals, and personal trainers in their off time (myself included). The adult crowd is super friendly, caring, and community focused. Most adult classes have 2-5 student and always includes a warm up/stretching drills. Master Seo, or Master Jake as the kids call him is excellent with children. They love to play with him before and after his classes and sometimes rewards them with a treat (small piece of candy). He really gets the kids moving and can wear their energy out. The parents love him too. The facility is clean especially the studio. The floor is a soft foam safe for tumbling or the occasional slip. Master Seo has multiple training dummies, kicking targets, portable kicking bags, foldable tumbling mats, everything you could imagine. He has a human shaped training dummy dressed in a training Gi There is a parking lot in the back off of Haskell and parking in the front off Live Oak St. Always a clean bathroom. Two large-ish rooms for changing men's and women's, and a lobby for family and friends to wait with pictures and posters of past tournaments, professional exhibitions, belt ceremonies and students past and present hung on the wall.
