This review is long overdue from my work trip to Orlando in mid-September! I was in between visits and needed to get on a call, so Yelp found me this awesome coffee spot with great wifi and super laid back, so took my call without any issues. Got myself, as I would do in the fall, a delightful pumpkin spice latte which did not disappoint. This particular location has a bunch of other shops and eateries nearby so if you need coffee, here it is for you. First time ever coming to a Juan Valdez, I was so excited when I finally found one near me because I've heard sooo many wonderful things about the coffee. I came early in the morning to get myself a a friend a coffee. I ordered a large iced white mocha and I ordered my friend a large iced sugar free vanilla latte with oat milk. When I received both drinks it looked like the espresso wasn't stirred all the way but the ice white mocha was delicious! In my opinion the coffee taste was extremely strong, I love strong coffee but I literally couldn't drink the whole drink because it was sooo strong. I also ordered a guava and cheese finger, it was warmed up and OMG, it was mouthwatering, I could literally eat 10 of them in one seating it was so good! I think the next time I really need me a pick me up, I'll come here but other than that the coffee was too strong for my liking. read more

Here I thought the place was rippling off the JV name, but they back it up with friendly l service, nice decor, good quality beans and fresh pasties. The Bunuelo was new for me, and delicious. I've had many Pan De Bono over the years and this one was equally enjoyable. While I'm not a Colombian bakery professional, I've been to other similar places and their pastries are a bit bigger than JV; though I guess that's the way everything is going - a bit more $ and a bit smaller product. Great service , beautiful location , calm and relaxing. Good place to enjoy a perfect latte with Pan De Bono (cheese bread) or have a delicious Arequipe Frapp. There aren't many Colombian places near by and if you are ever in town and want some delicious Colombian snacks stop here. I visited with my son Sunday morning after a facial. We were craving some iced lattes. Luckily this store was right in the plaza. The place was nice and clean. There was one barista working from what I could see. We placed our two drink orders and had maybe 2-3 other folks in front of us. It's all the way in Clermont but it'll be worth it. They make great Columbian coffee! I bought one of the take home bags and also a jar of their instant coffee.. Ok... I know what you're going to say. "Instant coffee?" This is probably one of the only brands who can get away with making instant coffee. I'm also thinking that we're getting into cooler weather and some chocolate recipes use that bit of instant coffee to give it a rich flavor - try it sometime. This place is seriously so good! I told my hubby about this location and we just had to go. They have Cafe's all over Central & South America, Africa, Europe, US, and Asia. Here in Florida they have locations in Miami and Windermere. We need this place in Tampa. We bought a bag of Colombian coffee. In addition, a cup of Colombian coffee, pan de Bono, and empanadas. Omg this is seriously so good. I love everything about this place, and seeing that my hubby is Colombian, here was seriously the happiest to buy a bag of coffee here. I like stopping into this cafe for a quick drink or snack on my way home from work or getting it delivered for a quick breakfast. My favorite is their arepa with cheese and adding an egg. Also their guava cheese finger. I also like their chai lattes. I was super excited when I first started going here thinking they probably make their own dulce de leche and flavorings but then I learned it's all just the normal flavor pumps that most places have. That was a real disappointment. I do like that they have many different options for milk, to be able to cater allergies and dietary needs. They do not have agave, which I was surprised to learn when I took my dad while he was visiting. If you ever get anything to go, they do the most amazing job packing it up that I've ever seen of anywhere. I have to give them credit for that. I'm so pleased to have this coffee shop in Windermere! I'm very impressed by how they're handling everything due to Covid. There are social distancing markers on the floor. Some tables are marked off to keep the seating spaced out. The staff wears masks properly and gloves. Upon entering, the lovely display case of goodies greets you. They have all kinds of baked goods such as empanadas, arepas, and muffins to name a few. They have a wide range of hot and cold drinks. I personally love to treat myself to a nevado which is a blended ice drink. Get the whipped cream!! It's thick and rich and I want it on all my coffee drinks!! The staff is very friendly. Was so excited for a spot near me with buñuelos, but unfortunately was disappointed with them. For $2.75 you get a small buñuelo, slightly larger than a donut munchkin and unfortunately the taste was inedible. I ordered two and had to throw the second one out. Smelled and tasted like plastic, I think maybe from the mini oven they were reheated in. They def weren't fresh, maybe made from a pre made batter? The Colombian empanada was decent. I was not impressed. The cheese empanada was gritty and inedible. Took one bite and almost couldn't keep it in. The Colombian empanada was filled with something that tasted like hash. Again one bite and done. Cheese Fingers were good and I enjoyed it and the guava cheese finger. The bunuelo was good but $3.60 for one ball a little bigger than a munchkin is crazy. The dulce de leche muffin was decent but nothing too exciting. I love Venezuelan food and there are several places I order it from here in Orlando that are amazing. This place had really small items for what was being charged and I am bummed because they are super close to my house and I was hoping for a new spot to eat. 5 stars for having what I think is some of the best tasting, and definitely the strongest, coffee in Orlando. If you like to have your coffee strong, you want to come here. They offer several different hot and cold drinks with various flavors and different creams. I love that they give you the option to order your coffee "strong." My go to is the iced coffee with vanilla flavor, cream and a little sugar. Not only is the coffee amazing, but they have amazing food. Please do yourself a favor and order an arepa. I finally got the chance to visit Juan Valdez Cafe. I stopped by on several occasions and they were closed. It's a small coffee shop in the same plaza as Agava Azul and the French Cafe. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed. The Colombian coffee was strong and delicious. Not bitter or biting... but smooth and tasty. They had some pastries and other items in a display case but I already picked up donuts from DG donuts so I didn't go for it this time. Everything looked great. Second time coming here, and I am a fan! Indoor seating is limited and overall minimal natural lighting because lack of windows. But it's cozy! Staff is wearing masks and sanitizer is available. Got the arequipe latte, and it was sweet and delicious. Also got the coffee with milk, and standard strong coffee. Coffee beers are also sold here. They have an assortment of bakery items both sweet and savory. Had the gauva and cheese finger warmed up and it was a nice small snack. Also got the Colombian empanada served with spicy and a regular chicken empanada with a garlic sauce on side. There is outdoor seating available as well. I'm not sure if this is the location I visited but I do believe it is. There were 3 or 4 young ladies behind the counter when I arrived. I had no expectations. I just knew I was feeling cold because of all the rain and a bit sluggish because I was super tired from traveling the day before. I wanted coffee. Just a simple cup of coffee, strong, creamy and lightly sweetened. No expectations! I placed my order and waited about 5 minutes. When she handed me my cup, I immediately took a sip and oh my! Oh my my my. Okay so I ordered a medium latte, oat milk and a vanilla pump. If you are a coffee drinker and someone calls a cup of coffee phenomenal, you have to try it. Please try this coffee. It has FLAVOR. It's not just a strong cuppa. It's strong and robust but in a very nice way. They roasted these beans correctly. They don't taste burnt, they taste dark, nutty and robust. You ever sipped on a cuppa and felt like nothing else mattered around you? Me either...until today. So much so that I'm googling Juan Valdez in my hometown so that I can start making it my go to for a nice cuppa. Not a nice cuppa Joe. I'm now looking for a nice cuppa Juan. Columbian arepa was so/so (cold in the center ) Cortadito and colada were delicious, had so much foam and they even drew a heart with the foam buttttt had no flavor and didnt really wake me up as a normal cuban coffee would, id say they arent using the best coffee, normally this is made with pilon or bustleo in traditional cuban cafes. Wow! Windermere's newest gem. I am such a fan of this little coffee spot. I'm not local to this area but one of my closest friends grew up here. We decided to catch up over coffee and have brunch next door. As first timers, we asked the barista for her favorite iced coffee on the menu. She pointed us to their Arequipe Latte which was honestly the perfect drink. My friend and I asked for less pumps on the dulce de leche to make it less sweet. The coffee was bold and balanced. We were happy campers and enjoyed our cups in no time! Got the cheese roll and guava cheese roll to try and it was the perfect amount of pastry and filling.
