Yeeeessssss!! A foodie dream of mine has come true with two of my favorite kinds of cuisine located directly next to each other : tacos and bbq!!! I can now literally inhale some delicious tacos and then take only a few steps to indulge in the most tender, melt in your mouth , fall apart, best brisket this side of Texas. I did just that on this visit so don't judge me , join me ! Here's what to know about Juan Lewis : it's a food trailer (Appears stationary and not a traveling food truck) located in the parking lot of Lewis Barbecue. It's owned by the same mastermind behind Lewis BBQ, John Lewis . There is picnic table seating with nice shady trees so you can relax and enjoy your food . They serve awesome frozen margaritas! They also have other adult beverage options, as well as non alcoholic choices. The tacos are great . They use corn tortillas but you can request flour if you want. The tortillas are made in house and I found the texture and taste of the corn tortillas to be tasty . They offer green chili beef or chicken tinga tacos . Three come in a order and you can mix and match so I recommend trying both as they are both delicious! There is a little heat in the beef tacos from the hatch green chilis and the flavor is amazing . Both tacos include lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo. Tacos include a couple sauces on the side- the green sauce is my favorite and has a kick to it . Order the guacamole. It's fresh , healthy and delicious. I recommend adding a spritz of lime to it for a citrusy kick . Can't wait to return and further explore their menu! read more

Juan Luis is one of our favorite places to eat in the Charleston peninsula. I brought friends from out of town to the food truck, which shared the spacious outdoor eating space with Lewis Barbecue, on numerous occasions during the summer. The oak trees were decorated beautifully and there was live music on numerous visits. There are outdoor picnic benches that offer a great place to enjoy. The food was delicious. I ordered tacos, which had excellent and fresh meat and vegetables. They also came with rice and beans. Fair price for the food and experience. Highly recommend. read more

Great little roadside stop that offers some great Mexican food. It has a cool vibe and the staff is friendly. Prices might be slightly high for what it is, but not enough to act as a deterrent. All in all, a great place to grab some good Mexican food. read more

The new food truck in the Lewis parking lot is amazing. We timed perfectly when arriving because the line got super long with the hype of a new restaurant. Currently they are only doing breakfast but have plans for expansion into lunch/dinner with menus already planned. The breakfast tacos were amazing. The price point was great for the loaded tacos. Hard to pick my fav we tried the potato/guac, chorizo and the red beef/pinto bean(this was the messiest) . Bonus! You can get an AM marg or beer to wash down your meal. The line was decent but as soon as you order, the turnaround time was super fast. Try it out! Def worth getting out of bed in the morning. read more

After having such an amazing meal next door at Lewis BBQ, we were a bit surprised at our meal from Juan Lewis. We stopped by after our meal to split a green chili cheeseburger between the two of us. We placed our order at the counter and grabbed a seat at one of the tables. Our food came up and it looked pretty solid. We asked if they could cut it in half for us and they said no. We ended up hacking it in half with a plastic knife and dove in. We were both rather surprised in the overall lack of flavor. The patty wasn't seasoned at all. It had a decent char on the patty, but that was the high point. The sauce was hard to find and the cheese was flavorless. The chilies were nicely roasted, but the overall flavor of the burger just wasn't there. We were both a bit disappointed from our selection. Hopefully it was just a one off situation, but I can't say I would return to try any of the other options. read more

Such an amazing experience at Juan Luis for lunch. Ordered the smothered burrito w/pork, beef enchiladas and the dip trio. Everything was amazing. Sat outside with our three kids and found a perfect little corner where we all got to feel what life was like pre-pandemic. Being super familiar with Lewis BBQ, my expectations were sky high and this has been on my Must-try list for some time. I feel like Juan Luis will be a staple in our rotation for years to come. ALL HAIL THE KING! John Lewis is the beef master no doubt. My wife and I were dying to try Juan Lewis. I'm a Lewis junkie and she loves any type of Mexican food. We started with a queso dip that was divine. She had the green chili enchiladas and I had the beef tacos. BEST refried beans ever. The tacos were great. Two restaurants in one location, something for everyone! Sitting on the same spot as Lewis BBQ, Juan Luis serves out of small, trailer-like kiosk. There were 4 in our party and everyone was happy with their food (i.e., enchiladas, burritos, chips + salsa and guac). Portions are BIG, bring a hearty appetite or plan to share. We sat outside, customers also have the option to eat inside at Lewis BBQ. The Juan Luis kiosk offers some drinks (including margaritas) and there is always the option to head into Lewis BBQ for beers to tap and other beverages. Service was super quick, a bonus for sure given the typical long line for Lewis BBQ. The only suggestion is that Juan Luis start serving meat from Lewis BBQ with their dishes. The beef we had on our entrees were certainly flavorful and good, having the option to order something like brisket or sausage from Lewis BBQ would send this over the top! read more

My husband had gotten the Christmas burrito with pork and it was so good!! Best breakfast taco I've ever had. Ordered one Migas and one Juanito but I think they were both Juanitos (must have been a ticketed wrong). But they were so good I didn't mind haha. Wasn't spicy which I was a little worried about. Just really tasty and flour tortilla was nice and chewy. Size was ok. 2 was enough for me. We ordered online (during COVID) to pickup.
