Can you give more than five stars? I LOVED the enchiladas, the rice, and the beans. And the margarita too! I feel like this is the mexican food I've been looking for in Charleston!! You won't be disappointed.

    So good. 3 tacos.

The new food truck in the Lewis parking lot is amazing. We timed perfectly when arriving because the line got super long with the hype of a new restaurant. Currently they are only doing breakfast but have plans for expansion into lunch/dinner with menus already planned. The breakfast tacos were amazing. The price point was great for the loaded tacos. Hard to pick my fav we tried the potato/guac, chorizo and the red beef/pinto bean(this was the messiest) . Bonus! You can get an AM marg or beer to wash down your meal. The line was decent but as soon as you order, the turnaround time was super fast. Try it out! Def worth getting out of bed in the morning.

After having such an amazing meal next door at Lewis BBQ, we were a bit surprised at our meal from Juan Lewis. We stopped by after our meal to split a green chili cheeseburger between the two of us. We placed our order at the counter and grabbed a seat at one of the tables. Our food came up and it looked pretty solid. We asked if they could cut it in half for us and they said no. We ended up hacking it in half with a plastic knife and dove in. We were both rather surprised in the overall lack of flavor. The patty wasn't seasoned at all. It had a decent char on the patty, but that was the high point. The sauce was hard to find and the cheese was flavorless. The chilies were nicely roasted, but the overall flavor of the burger just wasn't there. We were both a bit disappointed from our selection. Hopefully it was just a one off situation, but I can't say I would return to try any of the other options.

Taco plate - you get 3. Very filling.

I'm the same parking lot as Lewis BBQ. Great tacos. The chicken is nicely seasoned but not overly spicy with the green salsa the home made tortillas with fresh salsa. A pleasant surprise for your palate. Try the Aqua Fresca. Delicious.

Super cool little spot. After ordering from the truck you can enjoy sitting under some large trees at picnic tables while waiting in your food. Speedy service and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend the trio appetizer! Great place to grab a quick bite and hangout.

Quite honestly the best breakfast taco I've ever had. The Don Juan was so flavorful and the beans just topped off perfect. My favorite was the Toro...just something about great green chile and a protein

Such an amazing experience at Juan Luis for lunch. Ordered the smothered burrito w/pork, beef enchiladas and the dip trio. Everything was amazing. Sat outside with our three kids and found a perfect little corner where we all got to feel what life was like pre-pandemic. Being super familiar with Lewis BBQ, my expectations were sky high and this has been on my Must-try list for some time. I feel like Juan Luis will be a staple in our rotation for years to come. I love that they are open for breakfast as wel and that's on the agenda for some day soon.

Tasty fresh Tex Mex that is worth the price. Thanks for bringing good Tex Mex to the low country.

Juan Luis kept it simple and for that I think they nailed it. Roadside tacos how they should be with the choice of a nice margarita (with quality Mexican tequila) to accompany it. Nice little outdoor spot next to Lewis BBQ is perfect for a casual date. Tacos are not the best you'll ever have but they are quite delicious with homemade tortillas. Don't change Juan Luis!

I love the concept of this stationary Mexican food truck. The food was delicious and it came out super fast. The trio dip and chicken tacos were amazing! Mexican restaurants are abundant in Charleston, but Juan Luis stands out from the rest.

It's not my favorite type of Mexican restaurant, as it's a little more upscale than I *personally* prefer, but if upscale Mexican is your vibe, then this'll be the perfect restaurant for you! They had an alright selection of beers, to include a couple of IPAs, but my friends and I didn't really enjoy their cocktails. They were expensive, but lacking in much flavor or zest. Besides looking cool, the taste didn't really match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the food was solid, but not that much better than your basic Mexican restaurant. As for the service, our waiter was nice enough, but he always seemed to be in a hurry, and was walking away while we were still trying to give our order. All-in-all, I'm probably making Matador sound worse than it was, but it was merely a slightly above-average Mexican experience, not a transcendental dining experience that I'll never forget. I'll give it 3/5 stars, and would recommend it based on your personal preference.

Every element worked together beautifully without overpowering the dish. The guacamole was exactly what great guacamole should be, creamy with just the right amount of texture, perfectly ripe avocados, fresh lime, and balanced seasoning that made it hard to stop eating. The Spanish rice, tomatillo sauce, and pinto beans were all equally delicious and clearly made with care and attention to flavor. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed chatting with our friendly and enthusiastic bartender, which made the experience even more memorable. Service, atmosphere, and food were all outstanding. While the queso and the meat were good (not much of it though), everything else left a lot to be desired. The sauces were not good and kind of ruined the food for me. I'm surprised by how unimpressed we were. It's certainly not awful but wasn't worth $70 for two dinners (no alcohol). I don't recommend it and don't think we'll be back, unfortunately.

Both made our day! I will say: Duncan makes the best Berry Coladas!! That drink is SO GOOD! it tastes like a coconut berry smoothie (we got the alcoholic version with rum, but there's a nonalcoholic version as well). Once our table was ready, we were moved to a booth. The overall decor is coastal and cute, with basket-lighting, wooden booths, and multiple ways to order! You can order via your server, QR code, or a paper ballot. We started off with the large sized chips & guac. I was skeptical at first because the guacamole doesn't have tomato, but it was VERY good! We devoured it! For tacos: we got: The baja fish taco: one of my favorites--the fish is perfectly crispy The crispy duck taco: good! Not super crispy, but definitely tasty The cauliflower taco: a surprise hit! I found the flavors very refreshing and well seasoned! The tuna taco on a bed of lettuce: this one can get messy. I ordered with my stomach instead of reading the fine print that it doesn't come in a traditional taco tortilla. The overall taco is good and the tuna has excellent flavor. The taco does come loaded with a sauce that tends to spill--so eat over the tray! My sister got the carne asada taco, and she felt that it could have been better. She felt the carne asada itself was bland and relied on the sauce for flavor. I'm usually skeptical of chain restaurants like Bartaco, but I've been pleasantly surprised: their food is reliably good! (Of note, the Bartaco in Hyde Park Village in Tampa DOES take reservations, unlike this one). I wish this Bartaco also took reservations. On busy days, you can easily expect a 30-45 minute+ wait to be seated here. That being said, the guacamole, the drinks, and the tacos are overall very good! I found that ordering 5 tacos was more than enough to fill me. My sister and I split our bill of berry coladas, large chips & guac, and tacos (5 per person) and it came out to $33.53 per person (with tax and tip).
