We have visited multiple times in the past without any issues, except the fact that they were closing early, but this time, we found the experience less than satisfactory. Your phone line indicates that you are open until 7 PM from Tuesday to Saturday and until 5:30 PM on Sundays. Online it says till 5:30pm. However, when I called to confirm your hours prior to our visit, no one answered. I arrived at 4:32 PM on my daughter's birthday, the day she had been eagerly looking forward to painting. To our dismay, we were informed that we could not paint, even though there was still an hour before closing time. We had planned to make bracelets, have a hat made, and enjoy the painting experience together. I understand that circumstances can vary, but it was disheartening to be turned away in such a manner, especially on a special occasion. She could have offered to let her paint for only 30 mins or whatever would allow her to close on time. She just seemed like she didn't want us there because she was on a time crunch to leave. Mind you the business is completely empty so you would think you'd want to make money. I believe it would be beneficial to ensure that your hours are accurately reflected on your phone line and to allow customers to enjoy their time until closing. We really loved this place but are definitely turned off now.

His shop has been a…read morelovely place to get comfortable with woodworking and gain foundational knowledge, like learning how to calculate / measure correctly, how to use the tools, choosing appropriate woods, etc. I've appreciated that he puts a lot of emphasis on safety and proper technique when using the machinery. I end up feeling more confident with using the tools, with knowing how to avoid accidents. Dennis makes the class environment a comfortable and nice place to hang out. There's creative energy all about. I look forward to going each week and seeing what projects the other students are up to or chatting with him. He's not only a great instructor but also so easy and friendly to talk to! Dennis' enthusiasm for woodworking and old tools will quickly rub off on you. It's a great balance between a structured class curriculum and freedom to customize your projects. I've since discovered that going to the lumber yard and choosing woods feels a little like being a kid in a candy store. The first 3-D printer I ever saw up close, was a Deezmaker "Bukito." I was intrigued because it was…read moretiny, nearly silent, and created precise parts in virtually any shape. A few months later, after researching many printer designs and different brands, I ended up purchasing the big brother, of the Bukito, called the "Bukobot." Since all of this was new to me I thought excellent technical support was critical. Deezmaker is open seven days a week, and you can reach them by email, or by phone, or if you're in the area, in person. Every time I've needed help with something, I've gotten immediate assistance. Best of all, everyone there is not only knowledgeable, but friendly, with none of the attitude that sometimes crops up when you're a beginner asking an expert for help. I've been to the store a dozen times, whenever possible I go to their monthly Meetup, and again and again I've seen a willingness to answer even the most naïve questions. This morning I discovered that a part on my 16-month-old, heavily used printer, had cracked. I drove out to Pasadena, hoping they would have a replacement in stock. Not only did they have it, but they encouraged me to do the work myself while I was there, and provided helpful suggestions, and even let me use their tools to make the repair. If you have any interest in 3-D printing, or simply want to understand something about the mysteries of it, stop by their shop. You will feel truly welcomed, and if you want to delve deeper, I strongly recommend the class they offer, called, "Zero to Plastic," which is a very thorough and well presented introduction to 3-D printing. I've had a lot of fun with my Bukobot, and it has turned into an essential tool in my design studio.

The back area is slightly separated from the main floor and allows for a great learning setting. The store itself was really neat. You can make your own leather pressed keychains and other items. I love that it's part store, part makers space. It allows for an opportunity to get creative and make some of your own items. I wish this store was closer to central San Diego so that I could visit it more easily but I'll just have to visit Oceanside to see it!
