Dive is not really that divey, i'm guessing "relax and hang out and play games in cocktailored comfort bar" was taken so "Dive Bar" it is... this location is way bigger and more above ground than the OG in Mooresville plus it has patio seating to get away from the madding crowd when it arrives as I'm sure it will, it just wasn't here (yet?) today but it's still early and still Thursday and a bit too warm for May. entry and main room have several games of "skill" and other amusements to give your hands something to do besides raising your glass. further back there's more games and some pool tables; a standard coin-op plays different than 'World Series o' Billiards' tables because, well, you know... you're in a bar! which, oddly enough, is exactly the same reason you could loose your house payment (if they allowed that sort of thing here (which they don't.)) it's a nice place, kinda glad I don't live too near here or I'd be here more often than not.

The outside also has a nice patio with a roof for those who wish to sit outside. I know that there are some days that there are certain events held here like book club or even drag show! I know Thursdays there is free pool (so get there at a good time) and Tuesdays and Fridays there is Karaoke. When it comes to drinks I would say that the price is very fair. The bar tenders are very attentive. Also since a lot of their regulars come here it's easy for them to know what you want. My go to here is a white russian. It's really good and if you enjoy things coffee flavored definitely give it a try. Overall I've always had a great time here at Westerwood. The environment is super welcoming and the service is great. If you want to explore a new scene and get out of downtown this is the place to be.

The glass ended up cutting my leg so I had to ask the security for some help. While this happened there was no clear effort from the staff to check in on the situation or see if anyone was harmed. I'm not even sure if the person who dropped the bottle was actually addressed or if they just ran away. I had to deal with the bleeding myself with no care or concern from the staff. In fact, while I was dealing with the bleeding, I was given attitude by the security staff when I was clearly upset and bothered by the situation. They offered no assistance and didn't even ask about what happened or how I was doing. I left soon after that while being beyond annoyed. If I worked here, I would be embarrassed if this is how I handled this situation, and would not want to show my face there again.

Because there's really never enough time in my crazy schedule to drive to Greensboro (incidentally, where my family lives and who I've only seen three times this year because of said schedule). My days at Walker's were many. And simpler. And boy, do I miss them. Had I known about life after grad school then, I would have appreciated the small-yet-reliable satisfaction that comes from being a regular at your neighborhood dive. The drinks are strong, and cheap. The jukebox has all the classics. The bar flies are a mix of funny, crazy, and kind -- but you know each of them by name. The bartender greets you like a friend. When the most of my troubles involved writing a paper on the use of viral marketing tactics employed by Snakes on a Plane, and nearly every other night meant a stop at Walker's with my roommate, it was almost an age of innocence in some ways.
