My old wood driveway gate (already replaced once) finally gave out. This time I decided to go with iron. I chose JRC Wrought Iron after some searching. I've put the bullet point list of key impressions just below for the time-limited reader. Keep reading for more details. 1. Prompt response to inquiry 2. On-site visit with detailed examination of site 3. Fair pricing 4. Good communication/updates with Operations Director 5. Installation went smoothly, deliverable as promised 6. Gate functions very well, no issues (in use for over 3 weeks) I contacted three companies, and Jesse from JRC impressed me the most. He came out promptly and took his time listening to what I wanted in a new gate, and we discussed the pros and cons of different configurations. The biggest issue is that I have a very narrow location for the gate, but Jesse shared his expertise in accommodating that. He also had good advice regarding how close to the property line I am, and had suggestions to design the gate in a way to avoid any possible issues. He gave me the link to view on-line their vast gallery of previous work which helped with design ideas. Jesse came out a second time just before production to take more detailed measurements. We had an even longer discussion thinking out all the factors and best usage of the space available. I really appreciated this about Jesse; I never felt rushed as he took the time to consider every possibility to give me the widest gate opening possible with the best supporting structure. He even planned it so in the future I can add a motor for automatic gate opening if I choose. I should add Jesse also has a talent for design, and he came up with some nicer decorative scroll work than we had come up with. After this point, I communicated more with Stephanie, the Operations Director, to handle contract agreement, deposit, and schedule. I found her to be very responsive and pleasant to work with. She kept me advised of updates to the schedule. In comparison to the other quotes I got, the cost was absolutely reasonable. I want to add that this is a family owned and operated business, which I always prefer to work with for the reasons that I experienced with this project. You can tell the culture of their business ethic is to treat customers with respect, and work hard to make them satisfied. It was also nice not to be ignored, or passed over, because I knew my project was small compared to most. The installation crew came on time, and worked quickly and efficiently to install the gate. They did a good job of adjusting the gate properly to accommodate the fact that my driveway has a slope, so that the gate would be at the optimum height without having an excessive gap underneath. The only minor glitch was that the gate was supposed to have a cane bolt, but it had not been included. Not a problem: someone was dispatched from their shop immediately to come out to my house and one was welded on in short order. I am extremely happy with my new gate. It looks great and feels very solid and secure. My experience with was very positive from start to finish, and the results excellent and professional. It is my pleasure to recommend Jesse, Stephanie, and the whole crew at JRC Wrought Iron. I would not hesitate to hire them again!

Rear rails awkwardly placed in the front but the crew fixed the mistake

We're currently giving our house a major facelift and decided to replace the driveway gate, which is at least 30 years old, rusted, creaky, and no longer functional. Found JRC on yelp. We first went to the store and was approached by Stephanie, who showed us samples and assisted in setting up an appointment for a free estimate. We had another company come out to give us a quote right before JRC that we were pretty set on going with. That is, until Rene showed up. First thing he said when we led him to the driveway was "do you guys plan on installing a railing on those stairs? Ya know, for safety?" and yes we were. We had long term renters who tore out many things throughout the years, railing included. I understand he's running a business after all but I appreciated that he considered safety, first and foremost. Rene made his measurements and talked us through the kind of gate we wanted, gave us the pros and cons of certain features we were interested in, and even gave us the option of an inswing gate, an option that the previous company said was not possible. My dad really liked how Rene explained everything in a way that was easy to understand while presenting us with options while the other company limited us. After receiving our quotes from both companies, we were sold. Rene had a rough sketch of the gate and rail drawn out, with all the measurements and details whereas the other company only texted us a breakdown of the price estimates. There was only a $200 price difference between the two and because Rene's proposal and breakdown was so well presented, we decided to go with JRC. They had told us it would take about 2-3 months due to supply chain delays but the gate was ready after a month, way earlier than we had anticipated. They were accommodating when we had to delay installation for about a month. There was a little hiccup come installation day because the crew screwed the railing at the front stairs while the invoice specified that these were rear rails. It also looked silly because it was screwed right next to the wall and if we had wanted railings there, we would've just done a bar instead of the free standing ones. Luckily my parents dropped by to check on the house and had them fix it. The guys said they weren't told where to put the rail. When they brought the railing to the proper location, it turned out to be slightly longer than measured. Luckily, the guys were able to cut part of the plates to make it fit. Not ideal, but they made it work without compromising too much of the rail. The motorized gate was our main concern and that was installed without issue. We wanted something nice and simple and that's exactly what we got. There were caps to be placed on parts of the gate and the guys had promised they would be back with the remaining caps the next day. When that didn't happen, my dad called Stephanie and she was able to send someone out to finish the job the very next day. Overrall, a good company to work with. Prices are reasonable and the team is very knowledgeable and accommodating in their business. Recommended!

One of a pair of custom estate-grade, garden style gates - powdercoated in trim color for a more garden like appearance

JRC is a second generation company and Rene already has 35 years experience. "It's all I know." We had entrance and exit custom estate-grade garden-style gates built. They took my design which included architectural and thematic elements, improved it structurally as needed, installed both gates and motors within time frame requested (over multiple days in the rain), and provided instruction for the different scenarios we faced. At all levels of personnel, they were capable, knowledgeable, and provided the type of customer service we all hope for. Oh yes - THE GATES ARE BEAUTIFUL !!!! Am completely happy with the experience and am happy to recommend.

JRC did a fantastic job installing our gate!! They were extremely fairly priced and professional. Very happy with the finished product. Highly recommend!

They are the best. Second Time I have ordered work from them. They created a one of a kind driveway gate. On time and under budget. Thank You!!!!

Everything is good when they are TAKING your money and business. But, once it goes the opposite way (refund), Roger gets NASTY -- I didn't see this side of him before, always with a smile because while taking money in. I brought some parts to be replicated; 1" shaft with the center with a 2" diameter cylinder with 1" flanged bearings. I was suggested another way to "make" the part that would make everything more "simplified" for me, okay, sure. I wasn't sure what he meant, but after minutes of trying to explain to me, I just went with whatever Roger suggested since he would know better about the mechanics of machine parts, etc., He just told me that I would have to source the bearings myself, which is what I did. He asked me if the diameter could be smaller and I said yes. So I trusted his word and went with it. When I picked up the item, he said, "If it doesn't work out, just bring it back". The thing is, I complained after because what he sold me for almost $400, was NOT SOMETHING HE "MADE". It was a part that could be bought online (~16", 1" shaft with 2 shaft collars), which can be found on Amazon for $35 (shaft) + $10 (2 collars). He then said that he bought it McMasterCarr, then quickly changed his wording to "WE MADE IT". So which is it? (I will never know, but my assumption is he got it at McMasterCarr, as he first stated, or another retailer). Then he said, "I'M NOT HERE TO SAVE YOU MONEY." JUST WOW!! It's my fault for not understanding what he was trying to sell me, but it's obvious my lack of knowledge was taken advantage of--I let Roger do what he does. I believe there is a big difference between MAKING something and up charging for labor, etc., vs. buying $40 dollars worth of parts and CHARGING 9X-10X more!! Especially, to someone (me) whom he kept calling "friend" after all the visits/business I gave him. When he did this "work", I also dropped off a small part that had a broken screw stuck in it. He said it was FREE OF CHARGE to extract it. Anyway, when he agreed to refund me for the $400 (16" piece of 1" shaft), BUT he charged me $85 for the screw extraction that he told me that was free! From ~$400 refund, I received $85 less. This costs him nothing (almost literally) to fix easily. $85 FOR A SCREW EXTRACTION--HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!! He gave it back to me, with a new screw, "I also gave you a screw". (Oh, gee, Thanks, I guess.)--But I didn't need that screw as I have 100's (if not 1000's) of these screws for my parts -- so he acted like giving me this screw in place of the broken one is a huge hook up, after I spent thousands and thousands of dollars here. I paid for this with my personal credit card, but he made out the refund check to the company I work for. So I asked him if he could cut the check out in my name since I'm the one who paid for it. He said, "just give it to your company and have them pay you." I explained to him that I can't do that because of accounting issues, etc. He got mad and he snatched the check out of my hand with an attitude. This right was the last straw. I was still going to give him more business (which I even told him, thanks for the refund and making this right, I'll be back). He told me, "I DONT CARE ABOUT MAKING THINGS RIGHT AND WHAT YOU THINK, I DONT NEED TO RESTORE FAITH IN YOU OR YOUR COMPANY". Okay, fine. ^Great attitude, perfect way to lose business after the fact that I stated that I hope this one issue won't affect future business and that I would be bringing more business. Roger shouldn't be interacting with customers on the front line if that's his attitude and represents your company. On the other hand, Alex is very polite. While Roger was deflecting the situation, blaming it on me, arguing who said what, this and that. Alex is the one who apologized on behalf of C&H Metal with a smile on his face, while Roger was steaming mad at the situation -- just the way he snatched the check out of my hand says it all. ALEX IS THE REAL MVP at C&H Metal, too bad he's not at top management, because management up top is clearly lacking customer service skills and lacking know-how to keep the customer acquisition costs low. I can bet they'll see this review and Google what CAC is because they don't know. Or maybe, they are making so much money, they don't care how they lose a few customers the way they do. Roger (mgmt) just knows how to take money with a smile on their face until you complain about something, then it gets nasty. This is the type of business you don't want to give business to. If you do give business to them, good luck. Hopefully, it's a short stint because eventually an issue will arise, and Roger has a short fuse, and you may not like the way he handles it. This experience was a blessing in disguise because I found a better and CHEAPER shop to do work for me.

With the clock ticking and trying to meet a deadline that was approaching, I found myself racing with time. After being turned away from so many local fabricators, my last draw was Architectural Aluminum Cladding, Inc. I had left that morning to pursue other possible leads and AACI would be my last stop for the day. That morning making last minute appointments, my conversation with Jenny Peng who is the office manager/estimator/design consultant and many other titles left me with hope with whom I had no prior contact or business ties. Naturally my day concluded in S. El Monte when I walked in the front office and met with Jenny. I presented my plan details and made Jenny aware of our "high profile client" expectations. She replied with her soft voice "no problem, we can do this for you". That was a major relief as a construction project manager to hear, it was comforting. Jenny brought out her floor production manager and also got involved in making sure everything shown can be made. Basically it involved taking flat sheets of stainless and breaking with 90 degree corners, 45 degree miters and ultimately applying a hand custom finish to create a intricate #6 finish. To the average person, you really can't see the difference unless you're a designer, architect or metallurgist. Our business continued the next day sending over my design plans electronically and signing off to proceed with fabrication. Drafted a deposit payment to commence work immediately. Terms of purchase order, net 30 days. Our client even offered to pay for Saturday labor to ACCI to help expedite completion. Our first delivery by AACI arrived on Monday with 2nd delivery on Wednesday as promised. No delays or hiccups. Material arrived with extra protection including bubble wrap. They went the extra effort to deliver sensitive material and not damage anything in transit. It's not a good scenario when you find yourself short on time and material is arriving damaged. Everybody loves a happy ending when the front doors of our client store opened up for business at 10am, Friday. I currently find myself with the same client and didn't think twice about reaching out to Jenny Peng and staff to help complete another project in Beverly Hills. This is a specialty fabricator capable of taking on small and large production order. State of the art metal shop offering many services to cater to your client and design needs. Modern equipment and highly skilled labor is a win, win. Finish work is of top priority specializing in laser cutting, break shapes, welding, powder coating to name a few. I reached out to a lot of fabricators, and Ramon from Blanco Welding was the only one who responded quickly, even on a Sunday, and took the time to actually listen and understand what I needed. From our first phone call, he asked the right questions, understood the urgency, and even gave me a rough quote right away. The quote was extremely fair. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but absolutely worth it for the level of attention and service. I'll be honest. I definitely gave Ramon a bit of a runaround in the beginning. I was unsure if I wanted to go with a fabricator I had used before, unsure of the design, unsure of the specs, and basically back and forth for almost a month. Through all of that, Ramon stayed patient, respectful, and never pressured me. He helped me think through weather factors, climate, long term durability, and what was genuinely needed versus overkill. We went over gauge, weight, measurements, and even used drawings and AI mockups to make sure we were 100 percent aligned. Ramon takes direction very well, but he also gives logical, thoughtful feedback. I originally wanted a much heavier gauge steel, and he explained why it wasn't necessary. I'm glad he did, because the final gate is perfect. What I appreciated even more was the transparency throughout the entire fabrication process. They sent me photos while they were building the gate, photos of the gate after metallizing, and photos after powder coating. And something I absolutely did not expect -- before metallizing and powder coating, they actually brought the raw fabricated gate to my home, hung it temporarily, and let me see it in person to make sure the design felt right. That level of effort and communication is extremely rare and truly made me feel confident. The final product turned out exactly how I wanted. The timeline took a little longer, but that was due to delays on my end, not theirs. I also want to mention this. After our first consultation, I read some of the older reviews and honestly got nervous. But after going through the process myself, I believe a lot of those reviews come from unrealistic expectations or misunderstandings about metal fabrication. Steel reacts to weather, weight, movement, and climate. It will expand, contract, or shift slightly over time. That is not the fabricator's fault. That is metal and nature. My experience with Ramon was the opposite of what I feared. Clear communication, patience, transparency, honesty, and a willingness to make sure I understood every part of the process. Installation went well. The only piece of feedback I have is just clearer communication about the exact arrival time, but once the team was here, the installation was clean and done well. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the gate and with the entire experience. Ramon has definitely earned more business from me. His pricing is fair, his work is solid, and he genuinely cares about his customers getting the right thing. To anyone reading this, my advice is simple. Do your due diligence and understand the material you're buying. If you choose a thin gauge steel, it will behave like thin gauge steel. If you don't powder coat, you may get rust. That is nature, not the fabricator. Set realistic expectations and communicate clearly. If you do, you'll have a great experience like I did. Highly recommend Blanco Welding.

Ramon specifically advised that the new railings would be built to meet current residential code requirements and would be taller than the originals. The pricing was reasonable, and based on that guidance, we moved forward. At final inspection, the railings failed. They were built approximately 1 inch below the required height, which required additional work on my end to bring them into compliance. I reached out multiple times to Ramon and his shop lead, Mario, to address the issue, but received no response. I ultimately had to resolve the problem myself to pass inspection. Separately, the quality of the wood caps was below expectations. Scratches upon install and a very poor job staining the wood. Based on my experience, I would not recommend using this company.
