In mid-April, I contacted 6 metal fabricators requesting a custom iron double gate to replace a 20-year-old dilapidated wooden gate. JRC's Jesse promptly arrived, carefully measured the space, and took many notes on my design. JRC's final estimate was very detailed, and the cost was exactly what I had expected between the other estimates I'd received. I put down 50%, and Jesse said it should take 4-6 weeks. Everything was going well until I realized it was the beginning of June and I hadn't heard from Jesse in 8 weeks. After my calls went unreturned, I emailed JRC's Director of Operations, Stephanie, who replied, "Jesse said he and one of our welders are working on your order, and you can expect completion in about a week. By Monday, we should have a better scope of exact install dates." After still not hearing from Jesse by the end of June, I reached out to Stephanie again for an update, who reported, "Our welder said he expects himself to be done tomorrow. We will be sending it to be powder coated, which just takes a day or 2." Another 3 weeks later in mid-July, with no installation date scheduled, I got a last-minute call explaining that they just had a cancellation and that they could install it today if I was available. Arnie arrived within the spontaneously scheduled window and got right to work installing the gate and meticulously making sure it was exactly right. He even hauled away the heavy old gate, which was very much appreciated. In the end, I'm very happy with the final build and installation, but JRC's communication leaves much room for improvement. I'd reached out to Jesse on a few occasions, and it took weeks to get a single response. A simple message that things were moving slower than expected or that it was going to take 12 weeks instead of 4-6 would have gone a long way. Also, having an actual installation date versus a last-minute cancellation that I could fill for them would have improved the overall process. Thankfully, Arnie left a very strong and professional last impression, as did Stephanie for her prompt and repeated replies. I only wish I didn't have to manage the project after all the missed milestones and awkward radio silences. read more

My old wood driveway gate (already replaced once) finally gave out. This time I decided to go with iron. I chose JRC Wrought Iron after some searching. I've put the bullet point list of key impressions just below for the time-limited reader. Keep reading for more details. 1. Prompt response to inquiry 2. On-site visit with detailed examination of site 3. Fair pricing 4. Good communication/updates with Operations Director 5. Installation went smoothly, deliverable as promised 6. Gate functions very well, no issues (in use for over 3 weeks) I contacted three companies, and Jesse from JRC impressed me the most. He came out promptly and took his time listening to what I wanted in a new gate, and we discussed the pros and cons of different configurations. The biggest issue is that I have a very narrow location for the gate, but Jesse shared his expertise in accommodating that. He also had good advice regarding how close to the property line I am, and had suggestions to design the gate in a way to avoid any possible issues. He gave me the link to view on-line their vast gallery of previous work which helped with design ideas. Jesse came out a second time just before production to take more detailed measurements. We had an even longer discussion thinking out all the factors and best usage of the space available. I really appreciated this about Jesse; I never felt rushed as he took the time to consider every possibility to give me the widest gate opening possible with the best supporting structure. He even planned it so in the future I can add a motor for automatic gate opening if I choose. I should add Jesse also has a talent for design, and he came up with some nicer decorative scroll work than we had come up with. After this point, I communicated more with Stephanie, the Operations Director, to handle contract agreement, deposit, and schedule. I found her to be very responsive and pleasant to work with. She kept me advised of updates to the schedule. In comparison to the other quotes I got, the cost was absolutely reasonable. I want to add that this is a family owned and operated business, which I always prefer to work with for the reasons that I experienced with this project. You can tell the culture of their business ethic is to treat customers with respect, and work hard to make them satisfied. It was also nice not to be ignored, or passed over, because I knew my project was small compared to most. The installation crew came on time, and worked quickly and efficiently to install the gate. They did a good job of adjusting the gate properly to accommodate the fact that my driveway has a slope, so that the gate would be at the optimum height without having an excessive gap underneath. The only minor glitch was that the gate was supposed to have a cane bolt, but it had not been included. Not a problem: someone was dispatched from their shop immediately to come out to my house and one was welded on in short order. I am extremely happy with my new gate. It looks great and feels very solid and secure. My experience with was very positive from start to finish, and the results excellent and professional. I had the pleasure of having JRC replace my side yard gate. They offered design help and their commitment to quality is impressive. The job was scheduled for one day and at the end of day one the gate looked great. The installer insisted that he needed to come back the next day and finish a few things up. They came back early the next day and spent 3 hours making everything perfect. We also asked for a design change in the middle of installation. I know, not a good idea. We're currently giving our house a major facelift and decided to replace the driveway gate, which is at least 30 years old, rusted, creaky, and no longer functional. Found JRC on yelp. We first went to the store and was approached by Stephanie, who showed us samples and assisted in setting up an appointment for a free estimate. We had another company come out to give us a quote right before JRC that we were pretty set on going with. That is, until Rene showed up. First thing he said when we led him to the driveway was "do you guys plan on installing a railing on those stairs? Ya know, for safety?" and yes we were. We had long term renters who tore out many things throughout the years, railing included. I understand he's running a business after all but I appreciated that he considered safety, first and foremost. Rene made his measurements and talked us through the kind of gate we wanted, gave us the pros and cons of certain features we were interested in, and even gave us the option of an inswing gate, an option that the previous company said was not possible. My dad really liked how Rene explained everything in a way that was easy to understand while presenting us with options while the other company limited us. After receiving our quotes from both companies, we were sold. Rene had a rough sketch of the gate and rail drawn out, with all the measurements and details whereas the other company only texted us a breakdown of the price estimates. There was only a $200 price difference between the two and because Rene's proposal and breakdown was so well presented, we decided to go with JRC. They had told us it would take about 2-3 months due to supply chain delays but the gate was ready after a month, way earlier than we had anticipated. They were accommodating when we had to delay installation for about a month. There was a little hiccup come installation day because the crew screwed the railing at the front stairs while the invoice specified that these were rear rails. It also looked silly because it was screwed right next to the wall and if we had wanted railings there, we would've just done a bar instead of the free standing ones. Luckily my parents dropped by to check on the house and had them fix it. The guys said they weren't told where to put the rail. When they brought the railing to the proper location, it turned out to be slightly longer than measured. Luckily, the guys were able to cut part of the plates to make it fit. Not ideal, but they made it work without compromising too much of the rail. The motorized gate was our main concern and that was installed without issue. We wanted something nice and simple and that's exactly what we got. There were caps to be placed on parts of the gate and the guys had promised they would be back with the remaining caps the next day. When that didn't happen, my dad called Stephanie and she was able to send someone out to finish the job the very next day. Overrall, a good company to work with. Prices are reasonable and the team is very knowledgeable and accommodating in their business. Recommended! read more

Sorry JRC but I was done giving opportunities, enough was enough. I wasn't going to write a review just as I stated however I'm still dealing with the lock on the door that doesn't work on hot days. I'm unable to open it, half the time in won't engage and the other times because of warping it's engaged so tight because the hole drilled was back too far that it's stuck. Now I've tried so hard so many times to disengage a door that is warped the lock is now broken and it's going to cost me $150 to have a locksmith come out and take care of once again something else wrong with your door. And yes this is not the final door because the final door that showed up was completely scratched all over So bad that your crew called you before I even knew how bad it was. No I did not have you install once again another screwed up door I already had one of those actually I own two of them. As agreed, we washed our hands of each other, you are off the hook of once again coming back out to "try to repair" the situation. read more

We needed the old rusted out railings replaced on the front porch and balcony of our house. I contacted JRC Wrought Iron and that same day, Rene came out asked me questions about what I wanted, made some suggestions, and took measurements. The following day, I received a quote and made a deposit to have the rails made, installed, and the old junky rails hauled away. I was told it would be about six weeks until they would be out to get the job done. About 3 weeks later I got the call that the rails were ready and the installation was scheduled a couple days later. Lalo and Manuel installed them yesterday. They are absolutely beautiful. Got two gates from this place and at the time, they were awesome!! However, sad to say, the quality and craftsmanship didn't last!! Owner saw the gates and didn't really do much for repairs. Just said to replace them! It's ok, no need for new proposals or anything!! Gates and materials should last more than 7 years!! I have gotten 4 bids and have already installed new gates and bars. The gates are now properly measured and no pets or rodents can crawl underground the gates. YOU measured the gates and when it was installed, I questioned it, but, nothing could be done. read more

There are 4 parts to this job. 1) Jesse seeing the site and answering questions. 2) Stephanie following-up and communicating between the time of order and scheduling the installation. 3) The iron work itself. 4) The installation. Anytime someone delivers something or comes to work on your property, it is the make or break part of the job ... because they are on your space. Jesse was fine and Stephanie was great. The gate is fine though I believe the bars and frame are hollow - I expected it to all be solid. The main reason for 2 stars is the installation. The gate is level and looks fine, but I discovered afterwards that the installers took chunks of my old cement they removed and threw it behind my bushes (yes, threw it, because it was scattered about, not in a single pile). They then took some leftover cement they mixed and dumped it in the entry way to the crawl space under my house and even took the screen off the crawl space opening and dumped some under my house - very disrespectful. They should have taken the old cement away and had something to pour the wet cement into for disposal. If they wouldn't do that, they should have asked me and I could have given them a trash can they could have easily put it and been done with it. This would not only have been considerate, but it would have meant me not having to find it later and clean up after them. read more

Great service, but if you're looking to complete your gate installations with a time crunch, this place might not be for you. Service: 5/5 Jesse (gate estimator), Stephanie and Ashley (manager and receptionist), and installers were all very professional. Despite being a bit disgruntled for deadlines being pushed to the last minute, Stephanie and Ashley were very polite and calm. Jesse was very diligent with getting the exact measurements. He and his team came over to retake measurements 4 times throughout the entire process. The only con would be the timing. A few times they came over without much notice. We had other projects going on and they came within a few minutes to hours of our other contractors' schedule. If you're working on multiple projects at once, it might be inconvenient. The installers were very good on timing and overall the job looked pretty solid. Met Deadlines: 3/5 We were given a timeline of completion of all four gates within a 6-8 week period. When we thought the gates were ready to be painted, they were actually still in process of fabrication. We negotiated a 6 week turnaround, but it was pushed to the full 8 weeks. Overall, the product and quality is great. The gates look sturdy and secure. Just be prepared to follow up on the status if you're in a time crunch. read more

A long fence run at the top of a steep slope. Unstable ground. Old large heavy wrought iron fence sections on masonry columns. Years of ground movement had rotated the whole thing - leaning 30 degrees. JRS removed everything and installed the new iron fence in a day. The three-man crew were skilled and careful. I found JRC through Yelp. After going through their pictures, I fell in love with the horizontal gates and fences they've made for other clients. It's really sturdy. Jesse was really nice and had a lot of ideas. I couldn't decide on a color (white or black) but he was able to look at our house as a whole and gave us his opinion on why black would be the best to match the rest of our our colors. He looked at our wall color, roof color, door color, and even our door knob color. The only minor complaint I have is that I was very specific about the gate not being taller than the block wall that divides our property with the neighbor. Jesse measured accurately because I was there, so there was a disconnect with the production team. We were in such a rush to finally get it installed that at that point we didn't care. The final product outweighs that mistake. I'll be using them for our next project. read more
