I hired Resurrection Brick in April 2026 to replace crumbling brick on our front porch that was…read moreallowing water to seep through the cement into the basement. I was promised by the sales lead & manager (Chris and Christian) who came out to our house that they would lay 45 cinderblocks into the bump-out portion of our basement to prevent leakage through the foundation and wall. They also promised to use a liner to help with waterproofing. Instead, what was installed was just 15 cinderblocks that extended only 2 feet. The liner, laid under the concrete on the top pour, did not even reach to the top of the cinderblocks, as was promised. The foreman said the crew had 25 years experience, but from what we observed, most were new to the work. The only experienced worker on the project, which was not supervised by any of the people who came out to plan the project, flat out refused to communicate with us. We asked for the rusted out support beam to be replaced once we saw what condition it was in, both by sending pictures to Chris/Christian and by asking the workers on site, ensuring that we would pay extra. However, the workers on site repeatedly called me a "puta" and said other extremely offensive things, not knowing that we understand Espanol. Additionally, they damaged our porch railing by ripping it out of the wall instead of unscrewing it or cutting the bolts. leaving huge holes. We took pictures and informed the "home team", who we hadn't seen since the day of the contract signing. They who responded that, since we had been so "patient and understanding", IN THEIR WORDS, they would repair the wall and reinstall the railing. However, the railing was haphazardly replaced, deeply crooked with wood screws barely penetrating the mortar. The whole effect is not only unstable and unsafe, it is extremly unappealing - with damage still remaining on the concrete steps. This is especially dangerous, as I recently had complete knee replacement surgery and rely on the railing to walk down steps. When I tried to contact the team about our concerns, we were initially told to just trust the process and that it would all work out. When we needed to go out of town, we asked them to pause the project until we returned (approx 10 days). They assured us they would wait until we got back to discuss what needed to be done to rectify the issues and finish the project. Instead, while on a whale-watching trip in Alaska, I received a call from Chris informing us that they had, in fact, decided to return while were gone and complete the work. I had very bad reception on my cell and was missing a lifetime experience, but explained that this was really unaccceptable and needed them to wait until we returned, as promised. However, they simply said the project was done and they would not be back. When we finally got home, we found metal debris left in the yard, a dangerous railing and contract specs undone, such as a 2-in overhang on the porch slab. To make matters worse, there was evidence of rain water accumulation under the porch. Shoddy work, poor communication, broken promises. Do not recommend.

Ross was extremely knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and--most importantly--there was absolutely no pressure. We never felt like we were being "sold" something. Instead, we felt like we were working with someone who genuinely wanted to help us make the right decisions for our home. Then there was Travis, our Project Manager, who was outstanding throughout the entire process. He was always available to answer our questions, kept us informed, and never once made us feel like we were a bother. No matter how many questions we had, Travis was patient, responsive, and incredibly helpful. What really impressed us, though, was the level of personal attention from the ownership. One of the owners, Ryan McGlinch, actually came out to our home himself to measure the door frame for our new front door. He then took the time to go through our entire project with me in detail. He knew exactly what we were having done, understood the details of the project, and made me feel as though I was his only customer. That level of personal involvement is remarkable and says a lot about the kind of company McGlinch and Sons Co. is. The finished product is beautiful, but just as important to us was the experience getting there. McGlinch and Sons Co. exceeded our expectations in every arena--from sales and communication to project management, craftsmanship, and ownership involvement. We absolutely love our new exterior and would recommend McGlinch and Sons Co. without hesitation. Roof, gutters and Hardie siding. Final job by subcontractors overall good. It's a lot of work for a…read morehomeowner, yet we solicited several bids to ensure competitive pricing. The journey and process to get to agreement, then completion, painful too often. And completion of details difficult. Thus a C+, B- rating. I wish that I had all good things to say and writing this critique was unnecessary. Some of several aggravations. The roof was completed in a day by many Mexican immigrants. Project included installing roof vents. The vent tubes were not attached at the fans -- Despite assurances from the supervisor that it was definitely done. NO THEY WERE NOT. Thus required request and debate with the company for follow-up. Their service man came and said he completed. NO THEY WERE NOT. A year later, condensation formed on the ceiling. Requiring repeat call, visit. We received assurances that the third time they were now properly connected. This is the most basic of very important work. I do not understand. Not difficult to do - for someone with reasonable skills and honest effort. The siding took 3 months. The workers tried to complete a lot of work on the final day. They left the porch filthy and muddy. Final Hardie plank trim that was not properly painted by Hardie. Not done by McGlinch. Requiring me to paint. They did not properly reinstall flood lights. The contract agreement required increasing soffit ventilation. Despite following up 5 times, to my verification, completion unverified. Disappointing. It can be a challenging world. Our hope was a fourth generation company would have made things far easier and that we were in good hands, we could have relied on them and they were looking out for us. Their own quality assurance. Is that too much to ask.

Compared to other contractors that I know, Matrix deserves 5 stars. I gave only 4 because nobody is perfect, but they come pretty close in the world of contracting. 4.5 would be more precise. What got our attention mostly is the material they use. The walls are made with foam insulation sandwiched between two sheets of magnesium board. A basement flood won't destroy your basement, and the material is stronger than regular drywall. The drop ceiling sits straight and the floor looks great too. At first we wanted to know how much just the material would cost us, because we wanted to save money the dyi way. During the estimation process we had them price out the complete contract as well. Then we decided to save ourselves a lot of headaches by letting them do almost the whole job. I like doing the finishing work myself, such as trim and doors. That saved us a few bucks and gives me a few weekend projects.

I called up Drains Unlimited after having another sewer company come out to my house. I explained…read morethe issue to Bill over the phone, and he was able to fit me in in a very timely matter, even though knowing our area had a lot of rain, and he was very busy with other customers. The next day he was able to come over with his son and snake a drain that was suspected to be clogged. After five minutes, they were able to get our drain unclogged. Bill made some recommendations on what to do for the future, how to properly take care of our drain and make sure that we don't have any more issues, and even suggested in due time repairing some of our old piping, whenever it was convenient for us. Prices seemed very reasonable, and we're not trying to be gouged in someone's time of need. I would recommend Drains Unlimited in a heartbeat and look forward to doing more business with them to continue the upkeep of my home in Livonia.

Shows up promptly, work was done quickly and efficiently, and the price was in an expected range. This tells me that he is responsive to my needs and not trying to rob me. Every other contractor didn't seem to grasp the complexities of the work I was trying to get quoted, but I could tell James completely understood and listened to me. His price was also very fair.
