Specialties
JP Ford Coin and Currency is a family-owned coin shop serving Longs, North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, Little River, and surrounding communities.
We buy, sell, and appraise U.S. and foreign coins, paper money, gold and silver bullion, proof and mint sets, and collectible currency. We also purchase gold and silver jewelry, including broken or unwanted pieces.
Inherited a coin collection? We regularly help families, collectors, executors, and estate representatives identify and evaluate collections. We offer in-store appraisals and evaluations, and house calls may be available for larger collections and estates.
Our showroom carries collectible U.S. coins, currency, bullion, coin supplies, and other numismatic items for collectors of all experience levels.
Our approach is education-first and transparent. We take the time to explain what you have, what makes an item valuable, and how we arrive at our offers. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome.
Located in Bingo Plaza on Highway 9 in Longs, South Carolina, JP Ford Coin and Currency proudly serves the greater Myrtle Beach area.
History
Established in 2020.
Established in 2020.
JP Ford Coin and Currency grew out of a lifelong interest in coin collecting shared by Joseph Ford and his father, Walter. Joseph began collecting coins as a child, and that interest eventually grew into a family business.
We started in 2020 with a small location at Hudson's Surfside Flea Market and continued to grow as more collectors, families, and estate representatives came to us for help buying, selling, and understanding coins and currency. After expanding beyond the flea market, we eventually moved to our current showroom in Longs, South Carolina.
Today, JP Ford Coin and Currency serves collectors and families throughout the Myrtle Beach area with coin and currency sales, appraisals, estate evaluations, precious metals buying, bullion, and collecting supplies. We remain actively involved in the numismatic community and continue to build the business around education, transparency, and fair dealing.
Meet the Business Owner: Walter F.
Hi, I'm Walter Ford. My son Joseph and I operate JP Ford Coin and Currency as a family business built around our shared interest in numismatics.
What I enjoy most about this business is helping people understand what they have. Sometimes that means working with an experienced collector looking for a particular coin, and sometimes it means sitting down with a family that has inherited a collection and doesn't know where to begin.
Joseph and I are both active in the local coin collecting community, and education has always been an important part of how we run the shop. Whether you're buying your first collectible coin, selling gold or silver, or bringing us a collection that has been in your family for decades, you're welcome to stop in and talk coins with us.
