I've heard so much about this place, but in my opinion I think it's over hyped. The macaroons are good, really good! However, I don't really think they're authentic. We got a box of six macaroons, including salted caramel, chocolate chip, pistachio, vanilla bean, Italian cream, and rose & lychee. All of them were so sweet and cute. My favorite definitely had to be the vanilla bean macaroon. It had a nice balance of cream and crunch. Loved it! The store itself was pretty small. I really liked how the macaroons were displayed. Such a fantastic location on Greenville....parking is the only negative to this whole street. The inside is bring and colorful and the staff was super friendly with recommending flavors. There were three or four tables outside to sit and anjoy. All of the flavors we had (lavender and honey, cookie dough, Italian cream cake, lemon blueberry, cookie and cream, and rose lychee) were "loud" and delicious...the only one that didn't hit our taste buds right was the rose and lychee (I knew this though since roses typically more bitter). Simply delicious macarons in a super cute shop. I'm so happy they opened up a location on Greenville Avenue, just look for their signature large double opening doors. When you enter you'll see all of their macarons in the display as well as their ice cream macaron selections, pick 1-5 macs, half pack, or even a dozen to take home. If you're like me and can't get enough of their cute shop, there's a comfy seating area in the entrance or if weather permitting, you prefer to sit outside they have a few tables and chairs in the front. The workers are all super nice and will explain all the flavor to you. They also serve kombucha and a few other bottled drinks. Whenever we are in the lower greenville area, we have to stop in at Joy Macaron, just to push the cool door open, sit on the staircase and then proceed to pick out a box of macarons! We love the new triangular shaped boxes! They are so fun. We are total loyal fans and need to come back to have the macaron ice cream sandwiches. It was just ok. I did go to the location right before closing so a lot of the macrons were already sold out which is understandable. I ordered the cinnamon macron ice cream sandwich. I expected it to taste like a macron with ice scream inside. A macron is usually crispy outside with a chewy middle but my macron ice sandwich was very crusty. Not chewy at all. The flavor was truly cinnamon which was pretty good but I was not impressed by the macron. I have had a few macron ice cream sandwiches in Japan and they were highly delicious so to have this one with that in mind was very under whelming. I also ordered three additional macrons they were purple, pink, and blue. The purple and blue macrons were pretty good but pink one was not my favorite. Then I tried Ladureé macarons AKA the best macarons in the world and so began my slight macaron addiction. I've been on a quest to find the best macarons in DFW ever since. Joy Macarons is a small, cute shop in Lower Greenville with a simple, modern interior. Unfortunately when I went, they ran out of honey & lavender which was the flavor I wanted to try most due to the hype. Joy is probably one of your better options when it comes to finding good macarons in the DFW area. The macarons here are just okay. I would come back if I were in the area. Pistachio is my go to flavor. The fact that they have macaron ice cream sandwiches is pretty cool. The flavors change all the time so you never know what you're coming into. Man, the hype is joyously real. Okay, I lovelovelove the layout of this new location, everything is so clean and aesthetic-goals, but that doesn't matter when the substance (macarons) are lacking. I'm no macaron-connoisseur by any means, but I just couldn't really dig the subtly of some of the flavors. Raspberry was good though, and the lavender, but everything else - meh. There just isn't that much flavor with these little babies and I just wasn't satisfied spending $13/box. But I'll definitely still give it a shot, especially at their Oak Cliff location, as it's been around longer. Staff is nice, though. Location in Lower Greenville is quite on-point for many day-shoppers. Convenient location across Steel City Pops and adjacent to Trader Joe's. Painted bright yellow, so very hard to miss! One upside is that the boxes for the 6-packs are ADORABLE and I use it as a lipstick container (until I run out of space) haha. Super cute packaging. read more

These are the best macs I've ever had. Because macaroons are the hot new thing, sometimes its a miss. Joy definitely hits the spot. First, the shop is tiny but well decorated with macaroon art on the walls, towers on display, and a cute little stair-step seating area. the macs are displayed in drawers so you are greeted by a rainbow of treats as soon as you walk through the door. I won't even try to list all of the flavors, but my fave was the cookie dough, followed by lavender. For me, the almond was an acquired taste. They also have the cutest ice cream sandwiches, that the owner told me are sold in various places throughout Dallas. Joy is located in a very cool neighborhood in Dallas. This is why this place for me gets a 4 star because it was only a one time try for me and probably wont go back unless i want a really good cake that i seen in this place. Colorful Tasty Macaron Shop. We were walking around Lower Greenville after dinner and saw this place and couldn't help but walk in. This macaron shop has no parking in front but drive around the back and you may find a spot. We walked in to a very colorful shop with 2 incredibly friendly ladies inside. The shop was bright and clean and had an entire line of macarons to try. This shop also has ice cream macarons. They have a small menu board with what they have available and what's not available. Sadly they had a rose and lychee macaron that was sold out. They also have 2 seasonal macarons. You can buy one at a time, but if you buy 6 or 12 you get a discount. We decided to get 6 different flavors. They looked so good I wanted more but it's best we only did 6. We got the violet and black currant, matcha, honey and lavender, raspberry, lemon fleur de sel, and salted caramel. The 2 seasonal flavors were matcha and key lime. I'm guilty I ended up going back in to get the key lime too. She put them in this small box and easily checked us out. They have a small staircase you can sit on inside or they had some unique purple tables you can sit on outside. They all were incredibly tasty! My favorites were the matcha and key lime! This place was so great and had some top quality macarons. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be back to try more! read more

Have had this place bookmarked for a while now and finally stopped by while in Lower Greenville. It's a small storefront, one that you can miss easily. Look for the yellow trimmed windows next to Dude, Sweet Chocolate and you have found Joy Macarons, aka your new favorite Addiction! I wouldn't consider myself a macaron expert, but I've tried everything from Payard to Jean Phillipe to Bouchon (One day I'll get my hands on some real-deal Ladurée!) as well as lesser known bakeries and sweet shops, so I've definitely had my share of quality macarons. Joy Macaron holds its own against the big boys! The store itself is adorable! Funky, bright geometric outdoor seats and tables, a little modified staircase with cushions for seats, quirky wallpaper art, but the real star is the beautiful color gradient macaron display counter. My all time 3 favorite macaron flavors are Rose, Pistachio and Lemon. I've always felt these to be pretty classic macaron flavors and If you can pull off these elegant and delicate variations, then you've succeeded! I was eyeballing the Rose&Lychee when the very kind lady helping me suggested the Violet&Black Currant, since I enjoy floral flavors. She also let me know about their seasonal flavor, which was Apple Jam. I decided to go with her suggestions, glad that I did! The Violet and Black Currant was amazing! The filling looked to be a pale color, but in the middle of it is a generous spot of Black Currant Jam! The violet flavor was a little light, at times being overpowered by the Currant. The cookies were baked nicely and had the signature "feet", as well as that crisp texture I love. Apple Jam was right on the money! The actual apple jam used to stick those lovely tie dyed cookies together was fabulous. Such a perfect, true apple flavor. I was surprised by the intensity, pleasantly so, of course. I liked the thickness of it as well. Again, perfect textures macaron cookies. 2 for less than 5 bucks, I can't complain! I've paid up to 4 dollars for specialty flavors and sizes, although I try to avoid paying so much for such a tiny treat. I've been eyeing this place for a while and I thank God I finally made it because their macaroons are amazing. They're flavorful and unlike other macaroons I've tried in the Dallas area, the texture is on point- crispy on the outside soft on the inside. Not chewy. None of the flavors I got were too sweet either. The shop is small but it's cute. If you needs cool pics for social media, come here. And even though parking sucks, the location is great. It's surrounded by other restaurants/businesses so once you find a parking spot, explore the area and finish off your adventure by stopping by Joy Macaroon! So my story begins with a small gesture for my the bride-to-be (my fiance). Macarons have a special meaning in our relationship, so I thought why not send some macarons with a personal note to her home to kick-off our wedding. I decided to go with a "highly rated" store - Joy Macarons (at least that's what I thought). The online ordering process gave me the option to make a customized tray with specific flavors. Since I know the flavors of macarons my fiance likes, I wanted to choose specific flavors. After 2 day shipping, the package arrived at my fiance's house, but the wrong order was sent to her. The flavors were completely wrong, my thoughtful note was nowhere to be found, and the macaron filling was melted (images below). After my wedding, I called Joy Macarons to let them know my dissatisfaction. They said they could not refund me, but will send another delivery, with the original message, and a gift card. I agreed and gave them my new address. The manager agreed to hand-deliver them to the apt on a Monday; which was great in theory, but we were not home that day. She left the package at the front desk. When I got home, I asked the front desk if they received a package from Joy Macarons; they said they had not received anything. After 3 days of back-and-forth between Joy Macarons and myself, I went back to the front desk of my apt building to ask them if they had received anything. It turns out that the apt couldn't locate the order because Joy Macarons wrote the incorrect address on the package. Surprisingly enough, the macarons hadn't spoiled. When I opened the package to retrieve the message, they MISSPELLED my name (see below). My wife and I were upset because we wanted to keep this note as a keepsake for our wedding scrapbook. Overall, Joy Macarons is a very unorganized business and I do not recommend ordering anything that needs detailed attention because they inevitably will mess it up. So damn good! I don't know what else to say. Macarons stuffed with ice cream, it just doesn't get any better than that! The shop is in a nice location and has a cool set up. Pretty cool building with a huge glass door. I have a huge sweet tooth and felt like I was in heaven. My wife and I shared the Pumpkin Cheesecake Macaron ice cream. So damn good! The perfect consistency with the right amount of sweetness. It was around $6 for this so it's a bit pricey, but totally worth it to me. I just finished eating them and now I'm writing this post. Overall - 4/5 They were pretty good. It's probably one of the better macaron spots I've had in Dallas so far. I had to knock off one star because not all the macarons were consistent in quality. A few of the macarons had hollow air bubbles and were bit too hard/stale/crispy.
