Dougs Appliance Repair

Our top load machine washer broke down over the weekend. I called this company and spoke with Doug…read moreon Monday. He indicated he could come over the next day (today), but couldn't give me a quote on how much it would cost. We agreed that he would show up between 11:30-1:30. I then remembered that our doorbell doesn't work, so asked him to text me about 10 minutes before he showed up, so that we could open the garage door and put our dogs up. He agreed to this. This morning, he texted me around 10:20 that we were next. He showed up shortly thereafter. We spoke on the phone, he said "I'm here." I told him I would be down shortly. Nonetheless, in a couple of minutes, he was knocking on our door. We were still trying to get dressed. My husband meets him at the garage and he jokes around that he happens to know exactly what is wrong and happens to have the part with him. (How amazing, given that I had told him the day before exactly what the problem was and the make and model of the washer.) He gives my husband a price of $170 and he was only here for about 10 minutes. That was completely overpriced for a part for a 10 year old wash machine part. We could have bought a refurbished machine with a 90 day warranty for that price. ********************* FOLLOW UP The owner of this company, Doug, contacted me this morning. He was very caring and professional regarding my review. He indicated that there is always a $65/trip fee that he was sure he had disclosed to me. (I'm positive he hadn't, as I would have nixed that and called a couple of used appliance store first to see what they have in their inventory .). We agreed that I had done a good job of describing the issue, but he indicated that he carries roughly 170 parts on his vehicles, so it was no fluke that he had my part. He indicated that he was here for an hour. We thought it was quite a bit less time, but we settled on 30-45 minutes. I told Doug that I was aware of the exact same machine at a local used appliance store for $150, so we split the difference and he gave me what I believe we found to be a reasonable cost adjustment. Doug is a small, independent business, which, as a member of the community, we want to support. He was very genuine this morning. He went over labor costs, we discussed my concerns that the trip fee was not disclosed. I BELIEVE THE MANDATORY $65TRIP FEE, WHETHER YOU USE HIS SERVICE OR NOT, WAS THE BIGGEST ISSUE. He was my first call, and if that would have been disclosed, I would have continued looking, especially for a refurbished unit. Having said that, I feel as though our issue was successfully resolved and we would use this company again after first checking around so that we knew if the price being quoted was reasonable.

The work took around an hour - needed new bearing wheels and belt, and showed me that the noise was likely coming from a metal object that had gotten stuck in there somehow (dryer is about 10+ years old). Very courteous during the visit, and even showed me what he was doing along the way, pointing out things I could do on my own to help keep things going in the future. Will gladly call Doug again later anytime I need appliance repairs.

Wilson & Myers - Appliance repair in Denver

They provided very fast service, arriving at my house three hours after I called. They didn't have…read morethe part that needed to be replaced, but they fixed it the next day. I can't say if their prices are high or low, since it took a little over an hour and I don't have any comparisons. However, I was very happy with the service and the technician, who offered helpful advice about dishwasher tablets. Thank you very much.

Zero stars. I chose Wilson & Myers because they marketed themselves as an established, locally…read moreowned, family-operated business with experienced founders. When problems arose, manager Mark Afone told me the advertised founders, Rich Wilson and Leo Myers, weren't involved in the operation. Despite repeated requests, I never spoke with ownership. That experience did not match the personal accountability their marketing led me to expect. I hired them to fix a minor door-sealing issue on our Thermador built-in refrigerator. Their technician left us with damaged leveling mechanisms and an unsecured refrigerator in the middle of our kitchen that could tip forward when the door was opened. I was present and watched the technician damage the adjustment mechanisms with a power drill. He said he would get parts and return the following morning. He never returned. After repeated calls and failed callbacks, I hired another company to secure and reinstall the refrigerator. That emergency service cost over $1000+. The second provider corrected the original door issue with a minor adjustment at no additional charge. Wilson & Myers sent another technician to inspect. Their manager subsequently confirmed the damaged leveling rod couplings in writing and offered to replace them. I accepted. They scheduled a corrective visit --another no-show. When I requested reimbursement and parts so another provider could finish the work, they directed me to their insurance carrier. After the carrier denied coverage, Wilson & Myers told me there were "no additional steps" they could take and considered the matter closed. The damaged couplings remain unrepaired. A minor service call became an unsafe situation, a $1000 emergency expense, and a month of chasing a company that ultimately walked away from resolving the damage. In my experience, their promises of professional service and accountability did not match what they delivered. I would not hire them again or recommend them. Fraudsters.
