My BMW had issues with the air conditioning and as hot as this summer has been, I needed to get it fixed immediately. I originally took it into the dealership but they wanted to charge me $$$$ to get it fixed.. (should have known better to begin with but i'm a stickler for all original parts) after reviewing some autoshops I decided to go with Jovenal Autoworks. I am so happy to finally have an honest auto mechanic! This is probably my most positive car repair experience I've had. I came to Jovenal Autoworks for a second opinion after visiting another shop closer to me that I felt was trying to take advantage of me. I needed my A/C fixed, motor mounts replaced, and rear brakes/rotors. Instead of suggesting the most costly and extreme A/C repair like the previous mechanic I talked to did, Jonathan accurately diagnosed the problem and was able to fix it at a fraction of the price. I had already purchased my motor mounts quite some time ago and Jonathan was willing to install the parts I already had. I asked him to check my brakes and he stated that only my rear brakes/rotors needed to be replaced at this time. I appreciate the fact that Jonathan only suggests repairs that the car actually needs. When my car was complete, Jonathan also let me know that he changed the battery in my key fob because when I brought it in it was dead. I thought this was extremely kind and thoughtful. I have had multiple repairs done by this crew from simple belt tensioning to jobs that had to open the transmission. They worked on both Japanese and German cars with no problems and fast turn around (we have an 80 series land cruiser and a newer Audi for reference). The prices were literally 25% of what the main strip "AAA recommended" shop wanted, and with better attention to detail and customer service. This is a shop that wont try and scam you to upsale parts and services. If a repair is recommended he will let you know and if its not necessary he wont push for it. Trying to find the cheapest solution first is how it should be. Jonathan is a true enthusiast that loves cars. A friend recommended Jovenal Autoworks to get work done on my 2000 Civic so I went there at first to get my clutch, master/slave cylinder and timing belt done. I was so happy with Jonathans recommendation of going with the Exedy clutch and the fact that he is so meticulous with his work. I came back to get all my bushings replaced with Hardrace bushings and he was able to knock it out no problem. I was so impressed with his work that I came back again to get my rear disc conversion and front brake upgrade. I brought in rear trailing arms and front spindles and he got started right away with power washing them and recommending front wheel bearings and ball joints replaced. Braking afterwards was night and day. Jonathan recommended Hawk HP Plus pads which I am more than happy with. His prices are very fair and communicates very well on the status of your car. Hands down, best shop in San Diego, especially if your car is modified and especially stanced and tuned. Jonathan, the owner, has been nothing but honest, helpful, understanding, and diligent with his work, his shop, and customer service. I reached out based on my friends referral since he always takes his track spec s2000 and integra there for repairs, installs, and maintenance. I decided to take my stanced / lowered car for an oil change, hub and wheel bearing replacement, and aftermarket rear motor mount install. I messaged Jonathan for an estimate, but ultimately couldn't get to the shop due to quarantine. I hit him up almost 2 months later on a Sunday thinking I'd be too late for him to get me scheduled during the week and for an estimate that he'd probably couldn't get me until the weekday because he's closed on the weekend. Nope. This guy answered all my questions, gave me an estimate, ordered the parts, and scheduled me in the same week with no problem. He even offered me and gave me a loaner vehicle for the day. He updated me along my cars progress and even finished earlier than what he expected. Hands down the BEST mechanic in San Diego that knows how to solve all problems to any kind of car! I took my BMW 435i to bmw to diagnose because there was oil getting into my coolant tank. BMW told me the problem was uncommon on my car and they can try doing a few different things to try and fix it but it was not guaranteed (and of course they charge an arm and a leg). I took it to Jonathan instead to diagnose and he did his research, diagnosed the car, told me what was likely causing the issue and solved my problem for less than half of what BMW was charging! He ruled out the expensive potential problems that BMW thought it might be and told me it was likely caused from a leak on the inside of the oil filter housing gasket.
