I've always browsed around here every now and then during lunch, but never bothered to undergo the full experience of doing a fit test and all of the fixins. This time around, I didn't want to mess around so I did the proper routine. Of course, the benefit of coming here on a weekday is that you don't have to wait very long to do the fit test and try on sneakers. With their help, I did finally decide on a sneaker to buy, although it admittedly took me a few extra days to make the purchase. However, the service was spectacular, prompt, and attentive in my eyes. The prices are what you'd expect from a running shoe store. I did splurge a little extra for custom insoles. In the limited time I've begun to wear my new shoes, I've noticed the difference. For me, the decision was easy because I was able to utilize my HSA employer-contributions from my previous job against it. By default, I was enrolled as a VIP member. I probably won't stick around with the membership, but it's good to have it for your initial purchase.

The floor of the shop is fairly dimly lit with accent lights on the shoes that want you to buy them. However, the stock room is down a spiral staircase that poor Jamie had to trek up and down to try yet another size or style for me. I settled on a fantastic scarf and a new pair of lace up high-end red dock martin-ish boots. So cool! Obviously, this location is a welcome addition in the new designer mall that is SoHo as the place was very busy. One really interested component to this store is the back wall where they are trying a new trend: hand-painted leather goods. Apparently, if you were to buy, say, a groovy pair of lace up leather shoes but wanted them in blue, there are artisans on side that will actually customize them for you! Ostensibly, you will be the only one you know -- perhaps the only one period -- to wear such a shoe, sport such a handbag and the like. Now that I have the red boots, maybe blue will be my next weakness!

I haven't been to Australia since 2016 and though I've looked at getting another pair of these boots online this sort of investment isn't the kind I like to make without an IRL try on. Thus, when I discovered that R.M.Williams had a store in New York I was very excited. I finally made it down to their Spring Street outpost earlier this month. Corey was very helpful to me. He brought pretty much every brown boot they had in my size. I ended up with the Erica (women's) in tan but I was close to getting the Craftsman (unisex). A note on sizing: I typically wear a 6.5 (US) or 37 (EU) in most shoes. Corey let me know my current boots (Comfort Turnout, which are unisex) are 6 (US) / 37 (EU). I got the Erica boots in the same size but their women's shoes are a slightly narrower fit. Corey also said something that I agree with: the worst day for a pair of boots is the first day you wear them. Still, they looked (and felt) gorgeous in the store and I'm very much looking forward to breaking them in.

This is not BS but when I slippedon the boot, I knew it was the one. It was a great fit, super comfortable instantaneously. Now that I am home and boots have arrived (had them shipped quickly in immaculate packaging). They fit even better than I recall. I have worn them daily and can't wait to grab another color.
