This area has SO many attractions and events. The restaurants go from sandwiches, fantastic burgers, BBQ, to international fares from around the world! Desserts include exquisite chocolates, cakes, Asian shave iced, fried pies, fine baked pies and ice cream. Let's not forget the drinks of fine wines to super craft beers! There is the Kirk Pedestrian bridge nearby which makes this spot special for the kids! It has a playground nearly the full length (lots of kid friendly spots the full length) besides the intended kid playgrounds. There are places to sit and lounge. Places to sit and converse. And a long pathway to run, walk, gab and sight see. The BEST attraction at Trinity Groves is the view! In daylight, the view of the Margaret Hunt-Hill Bridge is gorgeous with the back drop being the city of Dallas skyline. At night, is the ULTIMATE attraction, the fanciful and delightful ever changing colorful neon/LED building lights behind the well lit Margaret Hunt-Hill Bridge. This trip, the full moon over this view made it spectacular! Bring a date, bring the kids, bring your dog or come alone. It is impressive! You will enjoy it!

The Stockyards - Silly finds at the stockyard worth passing by

We had a fun afternoon at the Stockyards. So many shops and restaurants! You can purchase…read morebeer/wine, etc. and wander the streets. The stores are very touristy... but cool to look around in. The best part, of course, is the cattle drive. They do it twice a day at 11:30am and 4:00pm. Beautiful longhorns! You can also view them in the pens after the drive. Tip: We parked about 2 blocks away on a (shaded!) side street for free. We avoided the crowded pay parking lot.

This feels kind of like a bucket list location honestly. My friends and I spent time walking around the Stockyards area, popping into shops, window shopping at some very luxurious western wear stores, and soaking in the atmosphere. Between the cowboy boots, giant belt buckles, hats, leather goods, and rustic architecture, the entire area felt like a mix of Texas history and tourist attraction. The highlight for me, of course, was watching the famous cattle drive featuring ENORMOUS Texas longhorn cattle walking right down the middle of the street!!! It was something I had never experienced before and I found it fascinating! Yes, I do wish it lasted a little longer, but as an introduction to Texan culture and Stockyards history, it was fantastic and memorable. Standing there and watching these massive animals casually stroll through town while crowds gather to cheer and take photos - wow, just wow! Speaking of photos... yes, I sat on one of the longhorns for a picture because... when in Texas!?

Today while I was at the park there was a vibrancy that was contagious. It brought the Chicago song, Saturday In The Park to mind, but I am still looking for the man selling Ice Cream! He is probably here, I just have not found him yet! Of course I have not made to the Food Truck section yet, and THAT is probably where he is at... So far I have seen people playing life-size Chess, kids playing in a dancing fountain, venders selling goods, authors selling books, people playing ping pong, and "a man playing guitar singing for us all!"

I will say the playground's pretty chaotic at times. Bunch of brats unsupervised being annoying. Saw this kid helping her little sister up one of the climbing net structures with a slide midway up and the kid was telling another kid to move so her little sister can get by. Now I get it if the other kid was just parked there not moving but the kid was moving but maybe not at the pace the brat wanted. To me, seems like a you problem and someone didn't tell her the world didn't revolve around her and her little sister. Was at another part of the playground and noticed a mom suddenly started yelling obscenities because she lost her son. She was just sitting at a bench I guess closer to her other 2 kiddos. Um newsflash. If you can't handle 3 kids, your poor choices don't need to infect other people trying to enjoy their time there. She eventually found her son but yet another story of someone who thinks the world revolves around themselves.
