We used to love going to Josie's... food was good, staff was friendly & efficient, nice atmosphere. But now, it usually smells like sewage. Owner is rude & always drinking/drunk. He's run off all the good staff. At our last visit, we wanted to order food, but the kitchen staff left early & didn't even tell anyone. The owner didn't care because was outside drinking, of course. No social media or marketing info, so never know if any band is playing there. We won't be back, and I do not recommend Josie's at all. read more

Not sure what this place was in the past but what it's not now is a restaurant featuring Mediterranean cuisine. Is now a good-ole-boys-beers-after-work hangout with f-bombs galore. Stumbled into this place by sheer hunger :) It didn't look like much but WOW we were so impressed the food was on point. We ordered an array of foods. We always look up restaurants that we may be interested in eating at before we get there. Because we were attending an event across the street we chose Josies. The place was wonderfully clean, cozy and a fun atmosphere! We started off with the Greek salad and it was perfectly proportioned. Lightly dressed with a mild vinaigrette again perfect! We ordered the chimichurri steak frites, wings, and fries. The steak frites was amazingly cooked to perfection and the pesto sauce complemented so well. The wings in the hickory sauce was excellent and the fries were served hot! We decided to chance one more time and see if they kept up with the perfect score and we ordered the baklava - you guessed it - amazing!!! This is a 5 Star restaurant!!! read more

Second time I've eaten here. Food is average, at best. Wine was disappointing despite hefty prices. We like to patronize non-chain businesses so decided not to eat at Moe's or Mellow Mushroom across the street. Mistake. Will not return despite friendly service. read more

Wife and I walked in here on a Sunday evening to a crowded noisy place. The one area where it was quiet was closed or so we were told by the young man wrapping silverware sitting at a booth in this area. We turned around and walked out and won't be back. Service is obviously poor if you can get thru the front door and all the way to the dining room with no staff interaction and what kind of owner keeps people packed into one small cramped area when you have a perfectly good second dining area? read more

Apparently the steak and cheese you can not see or taste the cheese and has very little steak. I'm not sure if they left soap on the dishes or cross contamination but all of us got a sick feeling within the hour after we left. The waitress was nice. read more

Very disappointing place. Food is overpriced and sub par. We came for brunch and ordered eggs Benedict and crepes. The eggs Benedict was equivalent to a homemade egg McMuffin MINUS the Hollandaise sauce ($12.95). The crepes were about one inch wide and stuffed with what appeared to be flavored Greek yogurt ($9.95). Needless to say, we left still hungry only to walk across the street to order more food. read more

This restaurant either needs a total makeover or it needs to close...permanently. It took us an hour and a half to get our meal and when we did finally receive it there was no explanation whatsoever. I ordered the paella and the portion was very small for the price and the seafood was undercooked. I would say even calling my dinner entree paella was false advertising. My friend ordered the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich which had 1 small piece of some kind of meat with some cheese. He said that "at least the bread is warm". I also had an $8.00 glass of wine which was disgusting. I have now tried this place twice; once when it first opened but I was willing to give them another chance but the 1st visit was better the 2nd. Needless to say I will never again have a meal at Josie's. It's a shame because I love the concept of a Mediterranean restaurant in Decatur, AL. read more

We had a great time eating at Josie's over the holidays. I met up with a group of friends, and we ordered a bunch of tapas to split. The shawarma chicken was fantastic, and I loved queso and hummus dips. The service was fantastic, and our server went out of her way to make us feel welcome and help us clean up after some water spilled, even bringing us a new pizza to replace the one that had gotten wet.
