I FEEL BLESSED I…read morehad never been to this medical facility before and had a colonoscopy procedure there with Doctor Winter Wilson. I have zero negative to report from the experience. 10 on a scale of 10. The hospital was spotless clean. The bathrooms were spotless clean. The entire staff that I interacted with were pleasant and caring and carried themselves like they knew what they were doing and could do it blindfolded, which made me feel at ease. The A/C system was set at the perfect temperature for a July visit. I didn't feel too cold or too hot. The staff listened to my questions carefully and offered me thoughtful and knowledgeable responses at 6:30 in the morning. They went out of their way to address my spouse's / caregiver needs and not just me. Although I have never been in this place before, they made it feel just like home and I would call this MY hospital going forward. I can only imagine that if I was really sick and trying to get healed, this would be a great place to end up. I think I would get as good a care or better than I would receive at a monstrocity facility in a big city. Based upon my interactions yesterday, I really think these people care about their patients and are performing their duties to the best of their abilities and not corner-cutting. In closing, the anesthesiologist looked me in the eye before going under and told me, don't you worry about a thing. We are all here together and we are all going to make sure that you are okay and nothing happens to you. That meant so much to me and put me so at ease. I can't thank her enough for taking the time to do that. After I returned home, I received a followup call the next morning to check on me and I appreciated that a lot as well. I can't say "I can't wait to go back", but if I do, I feel at-ease that I've got an outstanding medical facility right in my own back yard that's going to give me quality medical care. Good Job Marshall North and Bless You All !!!!

My experience at Marshall Medical North on June 19th was extremely alarming and put my health at…read moreserious risk. I was evaluated during my first visit that late morning/early afternoon and was told to return immediately if my condition worsened. Later that same day, my symptoms became significantly worse, so I returned as instructed. During this second visit, the physician on duty did not come into the room, did not examine me, did not reassess my symptoms, and did not repeat labs despite clear deterioration. The medical record from that second visit states that an exam was performed and that I was "in no distress." This is not accurate. I was sitting on the side of the bed actively vomiting, in severe pain, and visibly unwell. My blood pressure at discharge was 90/43. After being discharged in that condition, I traveled to a hospital in Birmingham, where I was immediately admitted with acute kidney injury and infection. I remained hospitalized from June 19th to June 23rd and required urgent surgery on June 22nd to remove the obstructing stone once the infection and kidney injury were stabilized. I have filed formal grievances with both the hospital and my insurance provider regarding the care I received during the second visit. Based on what happened to me, I cannot recommend this ER and would not feel safe returning. However, I do want to acknowledge that the initial doctor I saw, Dr. John Alves, was outstanding. He acted quickly, ordered the appropriate tests, and made sure I received pain relief. I truly appreciate his care and professionalism. I only wish he had still been on duty when I returned in worsening condition.

I was told it was meningitis after I exited the office and was in the lobby headed outside when my phone rang. The lady in the call told me I was given a meningitis shot and to go to my pharmacy for the second Hepatitis B shot. Let's say I wasn't happy. I went to Walgreens and explained to the pharmacist my predicament. She asked me to find out what brand of hepatitis B vaccine I was given last month. I logged into my patient portal and the brand name of the shot used wasn't listed. After discussion the pharmacist agreed to give me my second shot. I even volunteered to pay cash. When the info was input into the computer system, the shot was denied because Walgreens is a retail establishment. I couldn't get the shot at my doctor's office nor at a drug store. I asked the pharmacist for help and she said that the HH Urgent Care can give me the Hep B shot. Off I go to Huntsville Hospital Urgent Care to explain to several employees why I was there. After checking in and telling my story to anyone willing to listen, I sat and waited while the ladies at HH Urgent Care dotted the i's and crossed the t's. I was called back and was given my second Hep B shot. Hallelujah HH Urgent Care saved the day. I made my appointment for my third and final shot. Thank you HH Urgent Care for handling what seemed the impossible.

I "saved a spot" online, arrived 15 minutes early as instructed, but waited over 2 1/2 hours to be seen. At least 2 walk-in patients were seen before me, which I don't think is right. My vitals were taken by the nurse, then I was placed in a very cold room, where I waited another 30 minutes. When the nurse practitioner came in, she asked me some questions about why I was there (uncontrolled coughing), prescribed 2 medications (an inhaler and a steroid), and sent me on my way. She did not listen to my chest, look at my throat, or even come near me. Not the quality of care I'd expect from a HH facility.

Ah, American Family Care, where great medical care from the Dr's and Nurses and local staff meets…read morebilling department chaos in a symphony of incompetence. If you're looking for a clinic that can treat you but excels in ignoring your secondary insurance requirements and botching even the simplest instructions directly given to them by the insurer, look no further. This is the place for you! It's honestly impressive how determined they are to not follow directions. I watched in awe as my secondary insurer, a living, breathing human being, literally spoke to them on the phone and explained exactly what was needed. Like, step-by-step, as if talking to a toddler with a billing system. Did that help? Of course not! Why let clear communication ruin a good disaster? Instead, American Family Care billing department decided to go rogue. They billed incorrectly (again), sent the wrong billing codes (bravo), and then didn't even provide the additional information requested by the secondary insurer. And don't worry, if you're hoping for updates or resolution, just sit back and wait forever. Their follow-up skills are so advanced, they've transcended the concept of time entirely. Emails? Vanished. Callbacks? Hilarious. Accountability? nah...But wait, it gets better. Ever try to email them? Or send a letter? You might as well attach your message to a balloon and hope it floats into the right office. Responses are rarer than a solar eclipse. Apparently, their inbox is a black hole where accountability goes to die. And their physical mail? Probably stacked under someone's lunch leftovers. If you enjoy endless phone calls, re-explaining the same thing fifteen times, and playing detective just to get your bills corrected for care you already paid for with the primary insurance congratulations! You've found your happy place. In short: great place if you want to feel like you're participating in a billing scavenger hunt with no prize at the end. But you will get treated. Avoid unless you're trying to test your patience and sanity or writing a thesis on bureaucratic failure. Primary insurer, no problem...Secondary-DISASTER-no clue what they're doing but it's not the right thing. All the work they put in for $35 far exceeds the return they would get. Amazing.

We believe that pulled pork he ate was not good. Anyway, took him to AFC in Madison and the wait was unbelievable. I was told they only had one provider and wait time could be awhile. Not a problem! The problem is what happens next. He's seen by a doctor that test him for COVID and flu and it comes back negative. They draw blood and tell me I can get the results tomorrow. In the meantime, they start him on antibiotics worried that he may have have a stomach bug or food poisoning. He gets worse the next day and my wife is concerned takes him to another doctor. The other doctor is completely confused because he's like why they would give him these antibiotics knowing that he has diarrhea and that the antibiotics would only make it worse. He takes him off the antibiotics and he gets better almost instantaneous. Finally, about 30 minutes ago we get a call to tell us he's dehydrated from AFC. I worry that had we not kept went to another doctor and continued him on these unnecessary antibiotics that my son could be dead now. I'm taking him to get more labs done to ensure that they haven't done any permanent damage by giving him medicine that wasn't necessary and quite frankly dangerous. Really disappointed with this and truly this may be the worst medical experience I've ever had. More will follow with updates on his health after this. I'm really confused how a test that only takes a day to get back would be communicated to us three days later after the doctor said it should be back in the following day. Oh, and by the way, it was done the following day we called Labcorp and they gave us the results on the spot. I will not be returning!

Well, they didn't follow procedure then. That's what she said. Of course I could pay 100 plus the co pay and see the doctor. Now, I am in the er waiting on a covid test. I am really sick.

There's a nurse practitioner here go by the name of Janice Pearson, and please forgive me, but this is the worst experience with any nurse practitioner that I've ever had in my life I was just a number to this lady today. This is the way I felt because she treated me very cold, not and not friendly. time she was in the room with I knew how much her husband weigh. I knew how big he is. I knew that he lost I knew that he has back issues. he's currently working as a paramedic or EMS I have to listen to at the same time I'm sitting in the chair so much pain trying to tolerate getting through these unpleasant menace of listen to this Miss Pearson talk to me about her to me about my pain that I came here for today or my problems needed that I had to come here in the first place. as soon as Miss Pearson was done, she we'll see what we can do for you. Within 2 to 3 minutes later Miss Pearson walked in the room, handed me several pieces of handout paperwork she pulled back the door wide open, so that it could stick to the suction cup on the wall, which means it stays open and always all she said to me, there you go! I'm sitting there looking crazy had no idea what the hell she was talking about. I got up and walked to the receptionist looking very I told the young lady I don't know what to do, but this and most strangest care that I've ever had in a facility. Seconds later, the assistance open the door, looking for me because I thought it was time for me to go home. her name is Santana and she's very says I have a injection for you. I I told Santana I had no idea what was going to happen because her nurse practitioner basically told me get the hell out ! nonverbal. Janice Pearson does not seem to like people of color and I can tell she didn't want to be near me because she never me at all not even with a pair of gloves on and that is sad. It is also sad that these young ladies medical assistance that work here they work very hard they all are super sweet, including the office manager the clinic manager, Cornelia White. They're all very sweet and kind. It is sad. They didn't have to work with someone who seems to have a heart of hate towards a certain class of people as if they don't matter. If Janice Pearson is here the next time I should have to come back for my follow up then I will turn around and walk right back out the door because I refused to be in company of someone evil or unfriendly or unkind and don't seem to take interest in treating me as I'm a human rather than treat me like I'm an animal. I feel bad for the friendly staff that they have to work with someone to this nature and I pray that at some point, God will remove the negative energy not welcome this type of time place in healthcare organizations. This is my personal experience and it doesn't happen to me anything to anyone else out there but as a healthcare professional of 20 for nearly 10 years, A wonderful mother and wife, I refuse to accept anything less than friendly kindness, respect, and gratitude to those who gives it back. I am and this is how I feel without prejudice only the truth.. may God bless each and everyone of you and please take care of yourselves. Go see the doctors with pride because they are doctors for reasons. Thank you.
