Starting in 1980, Jose's was a staple in Fayetteville, on Dickson Street. It was a great place to go for their slightly off-kilter take on Tex-Mex and a great bar. You'd go early to eat and stay late to drink. It moved to Springdale more than a decade ago as Jose's Southwest Grille, near the 412/I-49 intersection, hosted many a bike night, but decided to move to Tontitown as Jose's Bar and Grill, just before Covid. The menu is similar, and most is very good. The rows of frozen margarita machines are gone, but they have plenty of beer on top, lots of TVs on game day, and a good sized patio (which was always an important part, since it's usually where the live bands play). Less of a party venue than in the Dickson Street days, but still a great place to hang with friends, eat, and have a drink. read more

Stopped in yesterday for my annual attempt at nostalgia and came away deeply disappointed. I've known for years the only resemblance to the real Dickson Street Joses was the logo. But yet I always give it a shot yearly. Salsa is inedible. Nachos inedible. Steak fajitas the worst ever. I really truly wonder how this place managed to stay open. The food is repulsive. I have been coming to this restaurant for 8 or 9 years and usually love it, but our most recent visit was really disappointing. First, we waited about 10 minutes at the front before anyone acknowledged us to be seated. Once we finally got a table, our server took our drink order and brought out the triple dipper. The dips were small portions and the cheese dip was served cold, which was pretty unappetizing. My husband ordered the all you can eat tacos, which started with only two tacos. It then took about 15 minutes for our server to return so he could order more. By that point, the flow of the meal was completely thrown off. When it came time to pay, we were told only at that moment that their card reader was down. The server suggested they could write down our card information and charge it later after closing. That is absolutely not acceptable. Luckily, we had cash, but that is not something customers should have to scramble over at the end of a meal. Overall, the service was extremely poor, the food was not up to its usual standard, and the payment situation was unprofessional. We love Jose's. Our favorite dish is the fajitas. The chicken and beef are super tender and flavorful. Love the Mexican flag -- three enchiladas. The chicken enchiladas are so moist with the best sauce. Also love the blanco queso!! Prices are reasonable, and kids eat free every day!! read more

This rating is for brunch. Yes they have an amazing brunch here! It is an awesome well though out menu and with lots of local ingredients!! Oh and did I say $1.99 mimosas!? Yep those were nice. Jose's used to be one of the go to places for unique TexMex and Margaritas. Now, the food is just meh. We used to eat at the Dickson street location weekly, but stopped going when we moved to Benton County. Fast forward to about 25 years later and we find ourselves about 8 miles from this Jose's. We have been here on 3 separate occasions. The first time, the food and service were pretty good. The staff was nice, the food was hot and had good flavor. We were kind of excited by this visit and returned a few weeks later. The service and food were both just alright. Our waiter was not very attentive and made a few minor mistakes, meanwhile, our meals lacked execution by the cooks. They kind of tasted like leftovers that you eat just to keep from wasting food. So, fast forward a few more weeks and we thought we would give it another try. There was about 4 vehicles in the parking lot, so not busy at all. We waited about 5 minutes before we were finally greeted by the manager. He seemed totally dumbfounded and lost when trying to figure out where to seat this party of 2. Finally, the hostess showed up to rescue him. We were seated and had chips and salsa fairly quick. Then the waitress arrived to take our drink order. Similar to the manager, she was completely speechless and perplexed when I asked if there tea was brewed in house or if it came from the soda fountain. After some explanation on my question, she replied that she made it fresh herself this morning. We then ordered our meals and had enough time to slowly finish off the chips and salsa before our meals finally showed up. The waitress warned us about the hot plates, which were warm, but the food was lukewarm. It should not have taken 20-25 minutes to prepare lukewarm enchiladas!!! So, the taste.... I am not sure how you can keep consistently making less and less flavorful food!!! I'm pretty sure the cheap Banquet brand frozen dinners have more flavor than this stuff!!! Oh, and the waitress??? We managed to finish our meals, wait around and watch the last quarter of a college football game, and go to the restroom before we saw her again. She just showed up with the check and didn't even ask how the meal was!!! So, I apologize for the long story only to tell you that there are much, much better offerings within 1-2 miles of this location. We definitely won't return!!! read more

Haven't been to Jose's, a REAL Jose's since it moved off Dickson.Had read about the sale of the franchise to others who didn't maintain the level of the original. Didn't take long for Jose's to disappear from NWA. They had been a fixture in Fayetteville and the place to see or be seen, especially weekends or after a Razorback game. I've been told the location in Springdale at 412 and 112 was opened by the original owner and I hope that's true. It's a cozy space with a huge bar. They also have a patio but it was too hot to try it!! I sat at the bar. Laura was attentive without being intrusive. She provided excellent advice about the menu and drinks. First time eating at the restaurant. Not good service at the door. Had to wait on a host for a while to be seated. We were there during taco Tuesday night. All you can eat tacos for $9.99 if I remember correctly, with a choice of ground beef, shredded beef, or chicken tacos on a hard shell or soft shell. I didn't finish two because I ate too many danged chips as usual when I eat Mexican food. The tacos were ok but not a lot of flavor on the beef and they were a bit greasy. My daughter and son in law had a mixture of shredded and ground beef, then the second round my son in law ordered the chicken and regretted ordering it. They both agreed that the shredded was the best one tonight but previously the ground beef had been their favorite when they acted there before. Would I go back? Undecided, but probably not. Ooohhh holy Jose!!!! Sunday brunch was Amazing. This was our first time to this little jem of a mexican restaurant. If the brunch is this amazing I can only imagine what dinner will taste like. We will be back for more for sure. I really think this is going to be our go to spot. With a sign at the bar that reads " let the Shenanigans begin!" Yes please!!!! Came for Sunday brunch. Got there about 10:30 so the patio was empty but started to get busier at the end of our stay. Patio is very shaded. We were in the shade the entire morning. Service was very quick and helpful. It was our first time so we have lots of questions. Our table shared the chocolate gravy and biscuits, it was drizzled with KYYA chocolate and fantastic. The chorizo tacos that my fiancé ordered were great. Good portion size and the potatoes were perfect. I had the Highway 412 based on the servers recommendation. The biscuits are the best. Definitely not frozen pucks. These are large flakey and delicious. Out third guest had the fajita steak and eggs, it came out on a skillet with breakfast potatoes. She said it was as good as it looked. The best part of our experience was the $1.99 mimosas. They kept them coming. We had a great time and will definitely be back! Sadly another tale of a place that was once good. Neither the service or food is worthy of the wait you'll experience. A standard 15 minute wait at the door for a seat at a half empty restaurant is nothing compared to the hour wait for food that's cold, stale and resembles a frozen tv dinner. read more

So switched to bottled Landshark beer Ordered Fresh Guacamole $6.99. Good guacamole with some chunkiness but over priced for the portion. Ordered the Mahi Mahi fajitas $12.99. Fajitas were VERY good. This place hardly deserves 3 stars, but the waiter was very nice and the salsa tasted fresh. Boyfriend ordered a chimichanga and it just wasn't anything to talk about. Attempted to order a quesadilla, but they were out of flour tortillas and offered me a variety of flavored tortillas or a hamburger. This place really shouldn't be listed as a Mexican restaurant, but more so bar and grill on Yelp. Wraps, burgers, wings and fried pickles? A lot of the plates had black olives added to them... where in the Mexico is this about? We have been here several times now. We continue to enjoy our dining experience. First the dining area is comfortable and well lit. There are TVs everywhere even small ones at each booth. So far we have had great service. Our servers have been attentive and friendly. We tip well and they deserve every penny. We have chosen our favorite dishes there. My wife enjoys the taco salad. I like that they don't just throw a handful of ice burg lettuce in a shell and call it s salad. They use dark greens and are generous with the additional ingredients. I truly like their chicken chimichanga. You can get it with just cheese sauce or fully dressed. It's a big chimichanga fill with chicken and cheese. Spiced very well and fried perfectly.
