Was recommended over by my OB Dr Faryno and based on my insurance and what was told to me, they would be accepting new patients. I've been reading reviews and notice a lot of negative reviews on someone the name Monica.... At first, I was going to give it the benefit of the doubt as all patients go through different scenarios but when I called I encountered Monica and geez, she must really dislike her job to be in health care and be super rude to everyone! SMH. As amazing as Dr Josephine sounds and would love to have her as a primary, I now have to look elsewhere since little Ms Monica over there told me I have to call back in 4 months, they don't take waitlist and apparently not taking new patients when I was advise different from my OB doctor. Health care is very important and if you have people working front desk like Monica, please rethink your approach as who should be at the front desk. read more

This is a difficult to place to rate accurately as Dr Pham is a great doctor, however, she needs to do better job training and/or hiring her support staff. They are horrendous. One staff member in particular. She very clearly hates her job, and hates the patients. Has a chip on her shoulder and is extremely combative. She interrupted me several times which required me to raise my voice so she would just let me finish my sentence. Infuriating. Then said do not yell at me, I'm not the one who is yelling. My Mom & Dad saw Dr. Pham for many years, but over the last several years her office staff was rude and argumentative. One staff member in particular, Monica, was argumentative, rude, and told me I lied to her when in fact I did not. The last time my Dad was supposed to have an appt with Dr. Pham several months ago, Monica told me she had confirmed an in person appt, when in fact my Dad was scheduled for a phone appt since he was in a skilled nursing facility at the time. When she called to let me know that my Dad was a no show for the "in person" appt, I told her that I had confirmed and said "phone appt" on the phone with her the day before when she confirmed the appt. She told me that wasn't true and began to be argumentative with me. Then I get a call back from the Office Manager, who told me I was being rude to Monica and that we were going to have to pay for a "no show" appt. I told the Office Manager that was not right and they were punishing my Dad for something that Monica made a mistake about. I asked to make an appt with Dr. Pham later that week so I could discuss with her the situation. When I spoke on the phone with Dr. Pham she apologized for the confusion, and in a whisper (Monica was probably close by), she whispered to me, "Maybe Monica didn't hear you." Not long after that, my Dad received a letter in the mail that Dr. Pham was no longer willing to see my Dad anymore. Very disappointed that Dr. Pham, after seeing my 93 year old Dad for many years, had decided to side with Monica and her Office Manager. As you can see by the many negative comments about Dr. Pham's office staff, that obviously Dr. Pham is not willing to fire or train her staff, since there continues to be negative comments. Dr. Pham is a good doctor, however, I saw the true colors come out after we received the letter in the mail about her not willing to see my Dad as a patient anymore. There are alot of other really good doctors out there, and I would definitely not recommend seeing Dr. Pham as long as she continues to have Monica and the Office Manager work there. read more

I love Dr. Pham. She's down to earth, relatable, funny and tells it like it is. She's got great ideas for helping you lose weight, but is very kind about how she delivers the news. She's very knowledgeable and does blood draws right in her office which is convenient. read more

Dr Pham is a one of kind doctor. She listens and find out what is wrong with you and recommends good remedies. She always enter the examining room with a Big Smile. I have been visiting Dr. Pham for 2 years now. She got the worst ever management that you could meet in this day and age. They got the wrong address sent the bill there without calling me. And after several months add a 60% charge on the initial amount and demand I pay the exorbitant unreasonable amount. They forced me into paying them for their stupidity. Liked the Dr. but if she has such pathetic management- it doesn't make sense at all to visit her. Learn from my mistake and get out of their asap. read more

This was the first time I came here because I wanted to change my family doctor. The day when I visited this office for my simple health check-up, the staff told me that I did not have to pay for anything because the insurance would pay. Three months later, they sent me a bill for $181. This had never happened with my previous doctors before. I contacted my insurance for an appeal that takes 30-45 days to get the result and keep the doctor office's front desk staff updated, but they said that I will be charged for late fee. I asked to speak to doctor but they did not let me to speak to her. Outside the service charge, Dr. Josephine Pham is a caring and very nice doctor. Extremely rude staff. I parked in their parking lot because I was going to the dentist next door, I went in and asked if this was the dentist, they said no. I went to walk around the building to see if my dentist was next door, and one of their staff ran out screaming at me to move my car or they would tow. I said I would absolutely move my car, I was just checking to see if the building next door was the dentist, and asked if she knew if it was. She said she had no idea, then continued to scream at me about towing. The next door building was my dentist, which I'm sure she knew since they're up against the same driveway. Unbelievable that Annie D had the same issue that I had with the office staff. I was told I had to come in immediately for test results and they couldn't be given over the phone, which is extremely unsettling. Then I was billed over $200. While trying to resolve with insurance and get details from their office they charged a late fee and would not remove it. Seems irrational to have such poor service from a doctors office when their job is to make people feel better. read more

I've been going to Dr Pham doctor for years. Recently, I decided to change because of the front desk who is very unprofessional and very unfriendly. I can't make appointment for my husband, and I told her may be I should change doctor. She said there is a new law, that the same person needs to call and appointment for himself? Come one. . . how about minor? When my husband called to make a physical exam appointment, she told my husband that your wife is looking for another doctor. . . . she is so horrible. Dr. Pham rocks. I chose her solely because of these reviews even though many expressed reservations about the office staff. True, they are not the best part, but since Dr. Pham is the one that matters, her services are the focus of my review. I went in having had severe indigestion for a week (uncommon for me) followed by one day where I regurgitated after eating. I was expecting the ole' take-two-aspirin-and-call-me-in-the-morning routine, but I got the exact opposite. For starters, Dr. Pham asked a million questions and listened to all of my answers. She took me 100% seriously and did not question my responses. She immediately told me that I had either an ulcer or gallstones. I was blown away! I never expected an actual diagnosis and certainly not the same day. She immediately put me on ulcer meds and took blood to test for the H. pylori bacteria which they now know causes most ulcers. She also scheduled me for an ultrasound later in the week to rule out the gallstones. Well, the ultrasound technician seemed pretty surprised to find the gallstones right away. I'm 31 and I recently found out that it is really common for women my age to have gallstones. The nurses my mom works with guessed it was gallstones even before I had the ultrasound. Who knew? Apparently, they think maybe hormones contribute to the development of gallstones (although they are not sure of this but women who are 'fertile' or menopausing tend to develop gallstones). Anyway, it was so enormously satisfying to have Dr. Pham's instincts verified. Her staff was not as bad as the reviews imply at all. They are short, but not outright rude. Dr. Pham is lovely and I look forward to using her as my regular doctor. She referred me to a most excellent surgeon who I also loved. read more

I started seeing Dr. Pham in 2001 and I am completely in love with her. She is thoughtful, caring and she takes her time with each patient. She addresses each of my concerns and never once have I felt rushed, even when she was very busy. Her willingness to let me be an active participant in my health care is just one of the many reasons I adore her. I've had several less than great doctor experiences that have made me doctor wary, but I don't feel that way with Dr. Pham. I trust her completely and feel so fortunate to have found her. I've yet to experience a doctor's office that didn't have some issues with customer service with the front office people, that said, for the most part the people who work for Dr. Pham are polite and professional. Her office is conveniently located (behind Valley Fair mall), the parking can be a bit tricky, but usually there aren't any problems. read more

Dr. Pham's open to writing new prescriptions so you can try medications you've heard or read about--which I REALLY appreciate! Occasionally in my experience over the years, though, there have been some problems related to her office staff (records, billing, prescription renewals) but those problems have been largely resolved. The positives clearly outweigh the negatives with her practice; that's why I keep going back! I would like it if I didn't have to go to her office every time I need to get lab results, forms or a written prescription, *especially since I'm disabled.* However, her staff has a policy against that. Occasionally they will make an exception. I do wish they could pronounce my name right. I've only been going there for 7 years! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Pham almost since she started her practice. It goes without saying she is a fantastic GP. I would highly recommend her. Why? Because she's a no nonsense, tell it like it is, get it done, fix it kind of physician. She's no pretender. She cares about you. She is in medicine for all the right reasons... patient care (which is being lost these days!) Frankly I'm shocked to read some of the reviews about the office staff and communications. This has absolutely not been my experience. The office staff has been great. They are polite, respectful, and competent. Compared to other specialists offices I've been to which in contrast are truly rude, disrespectful, and condescending in the way they treat you. And with regards to communications, the office staff has always either answered the phone when I call, or returned my call immediately. As far as Dr. Pham, I can't tell you how many times we have spoken on the phone to follow up on a topic. It would be nice to have email access to the Doctor or the office staff but hey, pick your battles. I'm sticking with Dr. Pham until I die (but she tells me that's not going to happen on her watch. :-) read more

I have to make this account since i really appreciate how Dr Pham takes care of my health. I am buying my own health insurance since my employer do not provide a network with her in it, and i want ONLY Dr Pham taking care of me. I've been to other doctors and she is the only one who knows whats going on in my body. Im a nursing student and I recommend Dr Pham to people who wants to be pampered and spoiled by their doctor :). It feels she's more of a friend than a health care professional when you speak to her during visits; very comfortable and relax as if you just went to a friends house for a chat with of course the medical setting. She talks to you before she treats you and that's rare in these days of production line Medicine. Dr. Pham is the best MD ever. She's the kind of doctor that you really feel like you're having an interactive approach to your health. She genuinely cares about you and is a great human being and seems like she enjoys what she does. I was in there last week with stomach problems we talked it out I got some medicine. Dr. Pham inherited me from another Dr (Nails, Los Gatos) that retired a couple of years back. She purchased the office and I came with it. Since I only go in for the occasional ailment I have found no issue to change Dr.s as other's have noted Dr. Pham is actually pretty cool - a 'younger' doctor is not stogy as others I have experienced. I sometimes feel, however, that she is a bit rushed and I do not get as thorough of an exam as I might get - especially when it came to having a physical done there. I was expecting sort of a full mock up for an exam since I had not been to her for years. Basically it came down to a blood test and a couple of pokes around/in my body. Maybe I am too young to expect the full steve austin ekg treadmill test but I was thinking that adult physicals would feel more.. well more. Best MD ever!!!!! Staff is great and always helpful with any concern or question that you might have forgotten at the time of your office visit. Medications and referrals are done in a timely manner (within a couple hours sometimes or even at the same time you are in the office). Can't brag about how amazing she is in general with her patients and her staff. She is such a caring and hard working doctor and always provides the best comfort and bedside manner to her New and existing patients. She really takes the time to talk with you and hear you out. If you have a question or forgot a concern you didn't address at the time of your visit she always gets a hold of you by returning a call personally or seeing you again without any hesitation. Most insurances are welcomed, but its always great to check if they accept it. I genuinely give her 10 stars if I could because she is the best physican anyone can ask for. read more

The front office staff and Billing Director are unprofessional and I would not recommend going to Dr. Pham because of her employees. The Billing Director accidentally handed me another woman's medical file and rudely responded to my questions. I do not know much about Dr. Pham herself since I only had one visit, however I will not be returning to this office based on how I was treated by the office staff. read more

If I can give this place no stars I would indeed. Firstly, Dr. Josephine is super professional and nice. Her front office and accountant are the most unprofessional at their jobs. I came for a spider bite infection. When finishing up I had to pay the FD. They quoted me the price for my visit which was $100. Paid it and left. Satisfied. A month later I recieved a phone call from their FD and left me a message informing me that I still owe $40. That they FD quoted me the wrong price. Why would you call me a month later just and demand a payment. I'm frustrated and this point. I haven't had the time to call since I work full time and attend college full time. This was not important to me until they started bombarding me w/ monthly bill and interest. HOW IS IT MY FAULT THAT I WAS QUOTED A DIFFERENT PRICE. THEN CALL ME TO TELL ME IT WAS FAULT I SHOULD'VE CALLED to talk to them. The accountant Ivonne was so rude and said that I should have followed even though it was their mistake in the first place. I still had to pay the full amount even though this mistake was their fault. She's very condescending and try to belittle me. I said to her I shouldn't even be paying this but I'll only pay $20 and that's it. That was when she threatened me and said she would talk to the DR. And drop as their client. FINE! I agree with and can attest to most of the posted comments. Dr. Pham is awesome. She's been my doctor for 6 years. Her staff is the worst and has been the whole time I've been going there. But because I like her a ton, I didn't focus on them. I may like Dr. Pham, however, she recently dropped me as a patient because I didn't pay a $70 bill in a timely manner. I was dumpfounded! I've gone into that office at least 4 times a year on average and have paid out of pocket for the visits and they pull some shit like that. She didn't bother to charge me a late fee, just kicked me to the curb. I'm still upset about it. I thought it was pretty crappy and of course dealing with the office staff was terrible. I decided that if this is how they handle things then I don't want to be her patient any longer. I didn't even try to reconcile. Maybe Dr. Pham isn't who I thought she was... considering I've spent thousands of dollars there in these past years. It looks to me as if patients aren't really her priority. Sad. read more

I have been wanting to write this review for a while. The reason I gave Dr. Pham and her staff a 1 star review is because of the improper way I was treated. I had been going to Dr. Pham for years and I thought that the doctor was good but her front office staff was very unprofessional. I had a monthly prescription that I would call in to my pharmacy. I went to pick up my prescription for my hormones on a Saturday and I was told that the doctor did not authorize a refill, and this was surprising since nobody from the doctor's office called me to tell me that. I called the doctors office on Monday and they said that I needed a mammogram which I scheduled immediately and called them back and said I was set for an appt and can I get my prescription and they told me the doctor was busy and they would get back to me. By Tuesday I had not heard back and not having my pills for 3 days causes break through bleeding and I told the office staff I needed my prescription right away and again they said they would see what they could do. By the end of Tuesday, I called and was very irritated but tried to stay calm with her staff and I told them that I could have bleeding if I did not take my pills soon and they told me to go to the ER (thinking to myself.... OMG - really!! Just give me my prescription because these are just hormones not a controlled substance) but again, I tried to remain calm with her staff. By Wednesday the doctor refilled my prescription and then called me to say that she was removing me as a patient because I was rude to her staff. PLEASE BE WARNED THAT THIS IS NOT ETHICAL WHAT THIS DOCTOR DID BY NOT STANDING BY HER PATIENT! Kinda a blessing in disguise because my new doctor responds to me the same day and is very attentive and so is her staff. read more

I actually like Dr. Pham quite a bit. However, her front of house staff, her receptionists, are extremely unhelpful and unprofessional. I am on life critical medication. When it's time to renew, it's impossible to get an appointment. They don't return calls, and they don't let you know what's happening. So I either end up asking the pharmacy to help out I have to escalate. This is the fifth time I've talked to them about this'll they treated my life critical meds as if they were no big deal. When I escalated, they said no, I couldn't talk to the doctor, then fired me as a patient. Also they didn't refill the prescription.... So I could die. Yay. read more

She has had to refer me to specialists on occasion and her referrals have been spot on as well. I have had a need to see her on the same day a few times and her staff has gotten me in every time. Sadly I have to give one star, but just know it really represents 0. I really don't know how this woman has any patients left between her carelessness and her rude, horrible front desk "workers" who pretty much cant do anything for you if it disrupts twiddling their thumbs... Dr Nails used to be my doctor before she retired and left the practice to Dr Pham, Nails was absolutely amazing/attentive/caring. Pham makes me feel so uncomfortable, I guess shes slightly more personable now that she had a kid of her own, but when I go to the doctor I like to be heard. I feel like she always has her own agenda Example 1) if i say i want anti anxiety meds not an anti depressant and she puts me on an anti depressant. Thanks for listening Pham! Example 2) I love making an appointment for 2:30pm only to be seen 45 minutes later EVERY TIME and then when its finally my turn I get about 10 minutes of her "listening to my problems" only to get a useless prescription thrown my way. I'm all for medicine but it would be nice to get some alternative options every once in awhile, not just oh you have painful periods? heres some birthcontrol. your heart hurts sometimes? (maybe this was a stupid concern to some, but in my mind im like hey shes my doctor, i feel like my heart hurts or is strained sometimes so ill mention it right? she told me to take childrens tylenol and didnt even think anything of it cause you "cant feel your heart" whatever that is supposed to mean) Example 3) Ill try to give them copay money and they say I dont need to (even though my insurance had not changed in the years i went to them) only to be billed for it via mail over and over and over. Then you get to call the *really nice* ladies at the front desk and get to dispute it, which is like arguing with a wall. Example 4)Also if you have irregular periods and/or have questions about possible infertility in the future, dont ask her! For it is normal to be put in the hospital due to extreme blood loss and period pains, nausea, diarrhea and fatigue when you get your period, well at least by her standards. Didnt even cause enough concern for a blood test/ultrasound or anything, she basically made me feel crazy. Plus the little parking lot for the practice really sucks. Reversing onto Forest Ave with all that mall traffic is not a good time, and then if a car hit you Pham would probably just throw a bottle of vicodin at you and call it a day.
