I brought my child here for a filling after a negative experience with a previous dentist who just…read morerecommended my child to a dentist for anesthesia. I was not about to put a young child through that. I searched for a dentist that caters to kids and found wee care. The staff and dentist were so patient and attentive and made my child feel so comfortable. Fillings and cleanings done with no tears, and without anesthesia that puts them to sleep. Kids get to pick a movie to watch and get to choose a toy and sticker after every visit.

Unfortunately, the experience felt rushed and not developmentally appropriate for a first visit. The office itself is very overstimulating (arcade-like waiting area, open bay with multiple chairs, loud cartoons), which may work for some children but was overwhelming for ours. Once we were brought back, the hygienist lowered the chair without warning or explanation, which immediately frightened our child and caused significant distress. As she became increasingly upset, the response was to suggest holding her hands and legs to continue the exam. For a non-urgent, first visit, this did not feel appropriate to us. During this time, a second hygienist made joking comments and laughed about our child's distress, which felt unprofessional and dismissive. When we chose to end the visit, we were told "it will be the same next time," rather than discussing alternative, child-centered approaches. This was surprising, as we have had very different experiences at other pediatric dental practices where first visits focus on comfort, narration, and gradual exposure rather than restraint. Parents considering this office should be aware of the approach used here and decide whether it aligns with their expectations for a child's first dental experience.

This is for Dr. Tehemina Richardson…read more Every once in a while a special person, a special care provider comes into my child's and my life that just, "gets," it. Dr. Richardson totally and completely gets special needs. Our son has high functioning autism and ADHD. Dr. Richardson talked to myself and my son with kindness, compassion and understanding. She really took her time to get to know Ryan as a person and what his needs might be while having his teeth done under her care. By the time my son had his appointment at the end of the day today, it had already been a very long day dealing with projects from school and keeping on top of things our son needs help with. However, Dr. Richardson was really patient with me as I told her Ryan's long history. She cared. She was like talking to a neighbor or friend. VERY down to earth individual. She knew how to talk to our son to put him at ease with his sensory issues and anxiety. Dr. Richardson was informative regarding dental x-rays and what is going on exactly with our son's teeth. She patiently explained things very thoroughly. She even offered to our son that he could bring a copy of his x-rays after showing them to him. Very patient. 5 stars is not enough stars for this dentist. She deserves more. My son likes her, I like her. We will definitely be back and will definitely recommend Dr. Richardson to other parents looking for a pediatric dentist. Thank you!!

I took him , no lie, to 4 different dentists before I was referred here. Dr. Amy Rodriguez referred us to this amazing dental office. You have no idea how grateful I am to this office. I was impressed the first time I took my child here but not so much the last few times. I think…read moreit's because he had a different dentist every time he went. They also prefer the parents stay in the waiting room, so I just have to trust they're doing their job. My son's last appointment was in Feb 2024 and he was in and out fairly quick. I paid a slightly higher than normal 'copay' but didn't think much about it. I just thought he had extra work done, hence the extra payment. They set our next appointment for August. My son's appointment is in a week and so I received a reminder phone call from a number from "Des Plaines." I'm glad I answered because the person told me the copay was going to be about $110. I said...um...ok...then I hung up. Come to find out from FB posts and another yelp reviewer that Sprout no longer takes Dental Dental PPO! I called Sprout to confirm and they said it's been like that for a year now; they only accept Premier. What?! It would have been nice to know that. Bye, Sprout! Now I really have a good reason to find a new pediatric dentist.
