I was never asked what I wanted as far as styling beyond that I wanted the bouncy blowout. I arrived with my bangs clearly down and styled, but they were completely ignored. He just tried to smooth my bangs into the rest of my hair at the last second as a last resort leaving my hair very strangely parted and my cowlick just dangling there. I was at such a loss for words I just paid and left because I was on the verge of tears looking at the top of my head and my ends. The people were very nice I just couldn't believe they let me leave looking like that. I should have said something but I was just so confused and at a loss. Definitely don't come here if you have any sort of bangs or cowlicks of any kind and if you do please request they put heat protectant on your hair To update based off of the owner's reply: 1. I did leave through the back door as recommended, so my hair never came in contact with any moisture. I walked out through the back into the parking structure area. The photos I took are on the drive home and my hair had come into zero contact with any sort of water or moisture. 2. The condition of my ends is in no way just frizz from moisture in the air. I've since then washed and styled my hair multiple times and my ends are completely fried, which is not the condition my hair was in before the blowout. My ends were soft and relatively healthy. 3. As far as leaving without saying anything, that IS my fault. I'm generally too shy to say anything or express concerns after receiving a service. But even a restyle would not have saved the damage to my hair. However, my plan WAS to communicate how I wanted my hair to be styled. I even had reference images ready to show my bangs. Not only was I never asked how I would like my hair to be styled other than the original question (straight blowout or bouncy blowout), not a single word was spoken to me during the service and the person blowing out my hair had their headphones in and was talking on the phone with someone. That's not exactly a situation where I'm comfortable expressing how I would like my hair done. I was sat in the chair and my blowout began immediately as my stylist had headphones in and was on a call with someone, with no opportunity to express how I would like it styled. Overall, I'm willing to admit that I should've asked for a restyle on my bangs/front area. That is my fault for being too shy to say anything and just pretending that I loved it and that everything was fine. But I DID leave through the back door as recommended, my ends are fried (not just frizzy from moisture), and the behavior of the stylist (no questions asked, silence, headphones in, and on a phone call) didn't make me feel comfortable to express how I wanted my hair styled in the first place. I'm not expecting any refund as I know the no refunds policy and I'm aware that I could've and should've said something at least about the bangs. But to act as if I didn't listen to your advice when someone LITERALLY let myself and my partner out of the back door straight to the parking structure and that the damage to my hair is just frizz is really upsetting.

She also made a point of telling me that she has a legal education, which I found particularly surprising considering her apparent lack of understanding of basic consumer protection principles when a paid service is not delivered as agreed. Very disappointing service and an even more disappointing response to a legitimate customer complaint.

I've been burned before. Somewhere along the way, I've been programmed to think scarcity of availability for salons means they're better quality, since the appointments are seemingly more in demand. Thankfully, my nerves were quickly quelled. Emily was so kind, personable, and NORMAL. She didn't make me feel uncomfortable, the salon was welcoming and the color service? Phenomenal. There's a moment during a foil color treatment where you have no idea what you're going to look like in 10 minutes. Not a clue. Joseph is a remarkable hairdresser! I wanted my hair dyed to a warmer color than what my hair has been growing out. It had been a year since I'd seen any hairdresser, and my curly hair desperately needed fixing. I reached out to Dylan Keith Salon in Toluca Lake for a first-time appointment, since it's in walking distance from me, and after texting back-and-forth with the receptionist on what I wanted to have done and when I could come in, they assigned me to Joseph. During the consultation with Joseph, I shared what I wanted done (warm brown with red tones or auburn & haircut), so my curls would have a more dynamic look to them. After thoughtfully listening to what I wanted, the two of us found a hair color that would look great on me (warm mocha brown base with rose gold highlights). He examined all the different areas of my hair and explained in detail the steps he would need to do to achieve the look we were going for. Having done hair for 30+ years, his depth of knowledge for the specific products he wanted to use was very reassuring, so I knew I was in expert hands. It's evident he truly cares about every detail of his work and wants everyone that sits in his salon chair to look their best, whether it's a color, cut, styling, or any other service. Joseph absolutely delivered when I came in for my appointment. After 4 hours, my hair now looks vibrant, warm, and gorgeous, both when it is naturally curly and when it's styled. The rose gold toner highlights that he did are going to continue to look nice when it fades & grows out. I had biggest smile on my face the entire time he was drying my hair at the end, because it's stunning! I asked for a French bob and showed the stylist a picture. I left with what looked like a mushroom haircut. For what I was charged, I expected a lot better. Then there was the pricing. The website advertised "Cut and Style $90." I was charged $150 because I was later told styling was a separate charge. When I questioned it, I was told there was a notice at the bottom of the mirrors saying styling was extra. I never saw that notice before or during my appointment, and I was not given an itemized receipt explaining the additional $60 charge. If styling costs an additional $60, that should be made very clear before the customer agrees to the service, not explained afterward. So, in my experience: disappointing haircut, surprising pricing, and definitely not the $150 experience I expected. A barber could have done a better job for $25. I won't be returning.

Jose was super responsive and agreed to see me later that night. My appointment was at 6, and I believe the salon closes at 7, but he stayed open nearly an hour past closing to finish up my hair! Jose never came off as impatient with how long it took to do my hair and was not frustrated by the amount of hair he had to deal with. He was awesome!
