Awesome Birria tacos! Quick, friendly service. Authentic tasting rice and beans. Tables under shade tent for "dining in".

I've learned to not trust Yelp for business info, but then again, sometimes a business's website is…read morewrong too. We wanted to make reservations for dinner on a Thursday but no one answered the phone. We decided to head over to the restaurant a few minutes before we planned to dine with friends only to discover they weren't open and a hand lettered writing on the door said they were closed Thursdays and Sundays. We did return the next evening, now knowing that they would be open on Friday. The restaurant shares an entryway with a popular bar. It was amusing watching people enter the main door and then turn one way or the other to enter a business, only to realize they want the other door. I saw a few families with little kids start towards the bar and then turn to the restaurant. Groups in motorcycle jackets did the reverse. A signboard at the entrance to the restaurant invites customers to choose a table and then help themselves to chips and salsa. My husband and I split an entrée and it was more then enough for the both of us. Portion sizes are generous. The food was very good. Much better than Casa Ramos or Puerto Vallarta. If you want Mexican food in Mount Shasta, stay away from those chains and go to La Perla for a much better meal at reasonable prices to boot. We enjoyed the background music, with songs from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, The Proclaimers.

Walking in the place was quiet and clean. We immediately got chips and salsa, and I ordered guac on…read morethe side. The guac was okay it just tasted like avocado so we put a little bit of salt and lime. The carne asada tacos were cooked perfect! Our server was really nice and sweet. Had a great time!

A local recommended that we eat here. We're so happy they did! We arrived before 5 PM and had a…read morechoice of eating inside or out. We chose a booth inside and the music was very pleasant, not too loud, which we appreciated. Our server, Anna, was very upbeat and approved of our menu choices. Don had the GOAT burger. It was similar to what we get at Eureka in Southern California. But actually, it was even better than theirs. Very moist and delicious with the excellent flavor profile. We asked for the fries extra crispy, which did not happen, but they were still pretty good fries. I had the best seared Ahi salad I've ever tasted! I had it with balsamic dressing because I don't like spicy. If we were staying another night in Mt. Shasta, I would come here again, just to get that salad. So delicious! Will definitely return next time we're in Mount Shasta.

It was bland and only one piece of seared tuna in each taco. Weird how they have rice in the tacos. It was lacking flavors and ingredients. I should have ordered a burger instead. Left disappointed and not a full belly. Server was attentive. Checked on us a few times if we need anything. Hayley was our server.

We came here for Dessert while we charged our car behind the diner. Totally worth the stop…read more Their staff is very friendly and attentive, at least the girls that took care of us were very courteous & polite. We got their Brownie a la mode, let me tell ya.... it was GIGANTIC! And very yummy for $6 bucks, worth it! Love the fact that this is their very first BBD, a corky fun stop for us ;) Downside, the bathroom was not the best, kinda dingy, but I guess is the standard for a diner bathroom. All in all this will definitely continue to be a stop on our Mt Shasta excursions & drive bys! Is in a pretty good location, right off the freeway.

Fun Fact: did you know that this location was the very first Black Bear diner EVER? Well, now you…read moredo!! We came here after camping at Lake Siskiyou. It was a 10 minute drive from the campsite and when we arrived, it was packed! We had a group of 14 so our wait was over 40 minutes but we had a few people in our bunch that love this diner and wanted to eat at the flagship location. Considering it was Sunday, it was lunchtime, and everyone was probably leaving to drive back to reality, the wait didn't seem too bad. The service was quick and the portions were really good. The country fried steak was yummy- I like how the breading was really crispy and flavorful but the inside was still nice and soft. The potatoes were a little too soft but the flavor was there. Our server was very attentive and we didn't wait long for anything we requested. Definitely a good spot to go to if you're passing by the area!
