I was at a work conference in Town and we stopped here for dinner one night. I really can't say enough about the food here. I'll admit - I did not come to Germany expecting to find the best cuisine. Beer or Riesling maybe but not food. This place was amazing and totally changed my perception of German cuisine. I had the best pork chop of my life here, and that's not hyperbole - My entire life. It was cooked to perfection with a thick golden buttery crust seared onto it. It was as tender as a filet and practically melted in my mouth. Simply incredible. The thing I really can't stop thinking about, though, is the spread provided for the bread at the table. Instead of butter they had goose fat with caramelized onions in it. It was so tasty we went through 3 baskets of bread... It tasted like I was spreading Thanksgiving dinner on my bread. I didn't expect it but this was the highlight of my trip to Germany. The rest was pretty good as well but I just can't get over the artistry and skill that went into that meal. Next time I come into Waldorf for work I will drive the extra 45 minutes just to eat here again.

Since we had a lot planned during our wine trip in "Die Pfalz" we were looking for dinner places…read morerather late which cancelled most of our dinner options in Deidesheim already. Before we gave up we called the "Deidesheimer Stuben" to ask whether they would still be able to cook rumpsteak for us since we were told it is a delicacy in the Pfalz just a few hours earlier. Everything worked out and we went to this restaurant. When you walk in it has that nice old and "proper German" feel to it as all of the places we visited in this area. :-) Let's get to the main part - the food. Everything we tried was FANTASTIC! Whether it was the potato soup or the "Schnitzel with Spargel" (Schnitzel with Asparagus), it was all great food. I have to highlight my two favorites of that dinner. We weren't sure what to expect from the "Vorspeisevariationen" platter but we were blown away by the look and taste of this menu item. BRILLANT! And just when you thought it could not be any better, we received the Rumpsteak. Mine was cooked to perfection with delicious sauteed onions and herbal butter on top. As a side I had "Bratkartoffeln" which were very good as well. Food that good with the kind of (perfect) service we were exposed to makes me want to go there every night... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :-)

The cheesecake looking dish was so spongey and light. The other was an almond tarte, also delicious. The cafe is cash only but the staff does speak English and are so kind!
