I was at a work conference in Town and we stopped here for dinner one night. I really can't say enough about the food here. I'll admit - I did not come to Germany expecting to find the best cuisine. Beer or Riesling maybe but not food. This place was amazing and totally changed my perception of German cuisine.
I had the best pork chop of my life here, and that's not hyperbole - My entire life. It was cooked to perfection with a thick golden buttery crust seared onto it. It was as tender as a filet and practically melted in my mouth. Simply incredible.
The thing I really can't stop thinking about, though, is the spread provided for the bread at the table. Instead of butter they had goose fat with caramelized onions in it. It was so tasty we went through 3 baskets of bread... It tasted like I was spreading Thanksgiving dinner on my bread.
I didn't expect it but this was the highlight of my trip to Germany. The rest was pretty good as well but I just can't get over the artistry and skill that went into that meal. Next time I come into Waldorf for work I will drive the extra 45 minutes just to eat here again.
