DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE…read more I used these folks about a year ago, maybe a little longer. I felt the best way to show everyone the kind of job they did was to post pictures of my place, but I'm not sure if Yelp allows for that. If anyone knows of a way, message me and I'll post my pics. We'll start with the good, they seem like a nice bunch of guys. So much so they if I were home I'd take care of lunch for them. Unfortunately nice guys do not equate to quality work. During their sales speech they mention they are the only outfit that advertises in Newsday year round. I wasn't sure what effect that was supposed to have on me. Your ability to pay for an ad doesn't really mean anything. I hired them to paint three rooms and a stairway hallway. While they were there they mentioned they could do crown molding as well, so I figured why not. Everything they touched has to now be corrected by someone who knows what they are doing. I happen to have contractors doing some other work, and they offered to fix most of the mess the Madia's left behind. I had spoken to them twice previously and mentioned they'd need to come back to fix a bunch of things. What I heard back is that they were busy, but call us again. Luckily my contractors offered so I didn't have to call again. Like I said above, everything they did needs to be corrected in some way. Rather than go room by room, I'll just touch on general basics. Peeling paint - the ceiling in one of the rooms is having a severe issue with this. I find pieces of paint on the carpet. And when you look up at the ceiling you see cracking all over the place. When they initially painted this room the paint had peeled off a couple days later. They added another coat and that was supposed to fix it. It didn't. Cracking paint - in multiple rooms the paint is cracking, I guess eventually this will also just fall off. Yellowing of joint areas - they used some sort of bondo to connect some of the corners and make them look more fluid. The paint has gone away in these areas and there is an ugly dark yellow color showing. Disappearing paint - best I can describe what's happening. There were a few sections where I removed a shelves, coat hangers and light switches. Whatever they used to cover this section didn't work. The paint slowly lightened and eventually disappeared down to the original color. Missed spots - They just didn't bother to get to the tough areas - certain low corners, lower molding. No precision in their work Sloppy work - paint stains on doors, the floors. They were just very careless. Crown molding - there is clear and obvious separating at the seams. They over-caulked in all the corners. I don't know a thing about painting. What I've been told by people who know, was that most of the issues could have been avoided if they just used a quality primer. In no case should the paint peel off, crack or just plain disappear. Ditto with the crown molding, I have no knowledge, but what I was told was that the seams should have been connected in a diagonal, staggered fashion. That would avoid the drastic separation that occurs as the seasons change. The contractors laughed when they saw what the Madia's had done. Before I hired them I painted two rooms by myself. Turns out I didn't mind painting, what I did mind was all the taping involved. So I decided to hire painters. For the record, nothing that I painted is having any of the above issues. I'll end the same way I started: DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

My mother in-law saw the work they did and she hired them to do work on her house. First off, the price they gave me was great. They paid great attention to details, and were impeccably neat. They had drop cloths for everywhere they worked and the clean-up was great. They helped my wife and I with color choices and paint brands. They removed a chandelier in my dining room and put it back when they finished painting. Some light spackle for some repairs was done and I can't even tell where they patched. One of the guys even replaced a faulty 2-way light switch for my basement stairs. They will be coming back to do more work in my basement next month. All in all I couldn't be happier with their work.
