Mila is highly skilled in lymphatic drainage massage, and also incredibly compassionate and understanding of the unique needs that come with pre and post-treatment recovery. She also used a device to help aid in healing my thyroid scar. The sessions have helped reduce swelling, improve circulation, and ease discomfort--both physically and emotionally. Massage Mila creates a safe, calming environment where I felt heard and supported. This therapy has become an essential part of my healing process. I wholeheartedly recommend Massage Mila to anyone navigating recovery before and after cancer treatments. I live an hour away and she was worth the drive.

I can't believe it's taken me so long to post this review!…read more I went to see Annie at Serenity when I was pregnant last year -- and getting really desperate to not be pregnant. At 42 weeks, I was ready to try anything, even though I had never had acupuncture before. My midwife recommended it, and a lot of acquaintances had recommended Serenity in particular. Two key points: 1. It does not hurt. In fact, laying in the quite, calming room was so relaxing I think I might have drifted off to sleep. I barely felt the needles and there was no pain. 2. I went into labor 24 hours after the treatment. I'm not saying it was because of the acupuncture but ... try it. At the very least, you will get much-deserved rest and relaxation, similar to a massage. (Note that 2-3 treatments are the standard, however.) I've heard excellent reviews about their other services as well, and can say first-hand that the space and Annie are amazing!

I am sitting here happily opening my jaw fully and without pain for the first time in 3 weeks. After one sports-type massage session plus tonight's session of craniosacral and manual therapy to my head, neck and jaw. Holy cats. I wish I had found this practice sooner and I will definitely be back. Here's my review: The calm and welcoming reception and treatment spaces are located in Rick's tidy lower level business space (totally separate from his home) in a safe and lovely neighborhood in SW Oak Park. Free street parking. Easy online appointment booking. Evening and Saturday hours, too. A great value. Highly recommend! I found Massage Therapy of Oak Park through a gift certificate that Rick had donated to a local children's charity fundraiser. I was the lucky highest bidder! What a great prize! Thank you Rick.

Beware of the Forest Park Elements Massage location. During…read moremy massage, the therapist applied so much pressure that I heard and felt a rib on my left side pop. The therapist heard it too, and we immediately ended the session. By the next day, the pain was so severe that I took time off work to get an X-ray because I believed my rib was broken. Fortunately, it wasn't fractured, but the X-ray confirmed significant bruising. What was even more disappointing was how management handled the situation. It took two weeks and multiple unanswered messages just to get a return call. I provided receipts for my X-ray and Groupon purchase and requested reimbursement for my medical expense, the Groupon, and the wages I lost while seeking medical care. They refused to reimburse me for anything and instead offered excuses rather than taking responsibility. Accidents can happen, but how a business responds afterward matters. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location.

Shappell was very thorough during the massage. ***however, upon reflection and discussion w a massage therapist friend on mine, I have concerns re consent in the following instances. 1. She told me that she would leave the room for me to undress but did not. 2. She told me to undress to my comfort level, which for me was top and bottom underwear. She then promoted me to remove my bra. 3. She used cupping without asking me before hand or instructing me as to why. Cupping obviously leaves marks on my back which I did not anticipate having following my appointment. This hasn't been a part of deep tissue massages I've had in the past at other places and this was the first time I'd ever have it done. 4. She took pictures of my back after the cupping which I did not consent to her taking. I would not have known she did this had she not shown me afterwards. I hope she has since deleted them. Shappell seems lovely and clearly is a gifted massage therapist. However, I feel very uncomfortable with these aspects and hope they are addressed for future clients.

I had never done a spray tan before, & Amanda made it easy - from scheduling, to preparing, to the actual event. It turned out really beautiful, looked natural, & lasted for my out-of-town event. Additionally, Amanda does a lot of body work & noticed during my spray tan that I was having shoulder issues. My right shoulder had been bothering me for some time, & she was the first to tell me without even touching my shoulder that I had rotator cuff issues. After seeing an ortho & getting an MRI, it turns out she was exactly right. I haven't seen her for a massage, but I definitely need to give her a try.

I found Amanda by typing in "spray tan oak park" and feel so lucky that google sent me her way. For starters, scheduling was an absolute breeze. I was wary of texting the number but got a prompt response. It was beyond thoughtful of her to ask why and when I needed to be event ready and she advised the best timing to be sure I'd look and feel my best. Mind you - I had a less than 48 hour window before I had to be good to go. In my experience, it can be rare for someone with the setup and professionalism of Amanda to be able to book on such short notice, let alone for a Friday in the midst of late summer/early fall wedding season. She directed me to her website which clearly lists the standard prep for best results. On arrival, Amanda explained everything that would happen from start to finish then went on to narrate why she was doing what she was doing at each step. She was kind and professional and made me feel very at ease and even finished off with a dusting of homemade powder that smelled fricken DIVINE and ensured I made it back to my car sweat free! While developing, I noted that the formula she used is one of the least smelly I've ever had applied. No small feat considering the beautiful color I got to. I'm lucky to live close by but she travels and I would recommend her to any family member or friend looking to add a little color. Will definitely be a repeat spray tan client with Amanda and very interested to explore the variety of services she offers.
