After an exhausting two and a half days of non-stop traveling, Jo's Chicken Inato welcomed me to Mindanao with open arms. This is a no-frills, open air BBQ joint with free WiFi (so, so necessary) and rotating fans to give you a break from the hot island sun.
My uncle ordered me a plate of grilled chicken inasal which came with a deliciously marinated chicken leg, rice, and some sort of papaya salad that is apparently served with everything in the Philippines but I've never been introduced to before. Also calamansi and sili for dipping! I ravaged every single bit and even considered ordering a second entree until the waiters brought out a hollowed out coconut full of the icy goodness that is halo halo. It wasn't as good as Max's halo halo but the full out coconut servingware was impressive. The entire meal was pennies and just a great casual meal to start my trip! read more
