Will Rogers Archway Oasis - Will Rogers Archway Oasis, Vinita

    Will Rogers Archway Oasis

    (10 reviews)

An excellent highway rest area along the Will Rogers Turnpike aka I-44 between Joplin Missouri and…read moreTulsa Oklahoma. It is just west of the Vinita entrance https://www.yelp.com/biz/ok-turnpike-toll-plaza-vinita?hrid=ZmlJxbkw2ayuq_yBPFLQkg so if you're headed east from there, you'll miss out. Easy to access from either side and with plenty of parking. Inside, lots of toilets, good shopping and a nice spot to literally have an oasis in the middle of otherwise very boring Oklahoma plains. Gas station outside with plenty of space for larger vehicles, McDonald's and a nice gift shop with Oklahoma and Route 66 trinkets. Overnight parking is not permitted and there is no shade out here at all. [Review 19776 overall - 135 in Oklahoma - 748 of 2023.]

I'm gonna give this place credit, it is a bit of an oasis because there isn't gas or a stop…read moreanywhere near here as you head in from Missouri through Oklahoma! Pro tip: Don't drink a sip of anything between the MO state line and this stretch of I-44. I've driven to Tulsa twice from KC (and back), and found myself stopping here all four times. In addition to tons of gas pumps, the bathrooms are reasonably clean, there's a McDonald's (meh) and some traditional gas station snacks, and most importantly, it's super easy to veer off and back onto the road. I also kind of like the big glass archway overlook; while not scenic by any stretch, it's kind of fun to see the cars whizzing by beneath you. If you're like me and prefer to pull off far away from any city traffic, this is a spot you'll naturally gravitate to, and it's a small benefit to paying the $5 toll along this route.

They're spacious and don't look like a chain hotel, with a cookie-cutter layout and amenities. We've stayed here before and the only complaint we previously had was the lack of open restaurants (weekdays, only 2 options) and something to do besides gamble. With Joplin only 15 minutes away, you're not going to starve. Compared to other casinos/hotels, Downstream is left a bit lacking. I know this may sound weird, stating you didn't want to gamble in a casino, but this place is a convention hub. So they could add something to accommodate the variety of tastes of visitors. But the facilities are very nice!

Funny she chose this casino. She just wanted to relax, use the spa, swim and gamble. As I right this it is 8pm at night and we still have not been able to access our reserved rooms on her 60th birthday. I tried several times to speak with someone in authority about our situation and was given the RUNNAROUND. Eventually someone told me that a lady named Kelly was in charge of the entire casino at this time. I as to speak with her to explain our situation. She showed up and after explaining everything in great detail she told me there was nothing she could do. As check in time was at 4pm. Remembernwee arrives at 1230 with prior reservation weeks ago for her 60th birthday. She said it was policy and she had no authority to make exception. She said she would check into the matter immediately, which she did and got back to me. She told me the same thing that check in time wasnatn4pm and there were no exceptions per policy. Even though I explained to her that we are members and come her often and have never had this problem even without a reservation. She said she wasnsorry that is policy and there are no exceptions. When I asked is there were managers above her it was like pulling teeth. Wow, this was my wifesn60th birthday. I am sending this as a future customer service courtesy. I have been a top executive for a city before I retired and good customer service was and is a priority, and yes, sometimes there are certain circumstances where things go wrong and fall through the cracks and don't align with policy. That's why we have management on duty to correct those some what unfair mishaps, as they do occur from time to time. Kelly make it clear she had no such authority to rectify our situation. So my wife never had access to the spa or pull. If the tone of this email indicates that I am more than frustrated, to put it politely, I AM PISSED!!! Sorry, but it was my wife's one single special 60th birthday celebration day and choose your establishment. What a severe let down. I will be posting this on every social media I have access to to share our horrible experience. I really hope some one reads this and make some changes in the future toward good customer service! Thank You
