My friend had the Japanese Cheesecake and a Matcha Latte. Yum! I liked how you can order using a touch screen and make modifications particularly the sweetness level. The staff was great too. Will go back for more tea and cheesecake!

My friend was raving about the Ube crepe and she's from the Bay area so I knew it was good! The service was friendly and also, there were a few tables right in front of the shop for us to sit. Service was prompt, and I loved that you could see a screen displaying all of the upcoming orders, which made the process feel quick and organized. They're located in the lobby of Ozwell Gym, but they truly hold their own as a coffee shop. It didn't feel uncomfortable at all to stop in solely for coffee! Recess Matcha is one of those places where the atmosphere is just as much a part of the experience…read moreas the drinks. I love the decor, and the staff is always so nice. It's a cute space that feels intentional without trying too hard. One thing I appreciate about their menu is that it changes frequently. The flavors are always really well thought out, and you can tell there's creativity behind the combinations. I like when a place isn't just throwing random flavors together for the sake of having something different. There's clearly some thought going into the menu here. Actually, I've participated in the thought as I overheard a conversation about fig and added my two cents about it. So thank me later if you see it on the menu. My one hang-up is that the matcha is batched. I prefer my matcha made to order, so that takes a little something away from the experience for me. I know batching can make service more efficient, but it's not necessarily my preference when it comes to matcha. I noticed once it got warm they started hosting events outside. From what I've seen on socials, their yoga events look like fun. That said, Recess has a lot going for it. Between the decor, the friendly staff, and the rotating menu, it's definitely a spot I enjoy visiting. I just wish the matcha was made to order!

After taking a sip of my vanilla latte and a bite of my 'honeycomb' I redownloaded the Yelp app just to rave about Yafa. The honeycomb is not like anything I've ever had before. One downside is the customer service experience. Guests are encouraged to order through a kiosk, so there's very little interaction with the staff, which may not appeal to everyone. There's no need to restate the events of my visit when I'd already told them accurately. Whether printer error or whatever, my order was dropped. An up charge to add boba to a classic milk tea that was already north of $7 is non-standard. I paid it without complaint. I don't need a recommendation of something less sweet. I want a good, classic boba milk tea like Harmony would have made me quickly and without drama for less money and to better standards. *Original Review* I wouldn't go here. The interior is cute. But ordered a boba tea at the terminal. The employees just sat down behind the counter after I ordered. I wasn't sure what that was about. I waited a couple minutes and they didn't move. So I went up and said I'd just placed an order for a classic boba milk tea. The guy acted confused. Checked his terminal and decided to get it for me. He says "add boba." I'm like "Just normal amount is fine." He says "No. You have to add." then punches up another $1.36 charge on the terminal. I'd already paid $8 with taxes and tip before that. Fine. I swiped. I'd ordered 0% added sugar classic boba milk tea. Hands it to me. It's got residue or syrup all over the inside of the cup, sweet as all get out, and doesn't look like plain classic boba tea. After leaving me standing for 5 minutes he upcharged me for boba that should just be part of the drink and then gave me some nasty mess of a thing. I won't be back.
