Hubby was all hot to try their chocolate gravy which was mentioned in the article. The waitress flatly stated it's not served after 10:30 even though the menu noted it was available "until we run out". It was around 12:30 and didn't appear very busy that day. I can understand if she had said they ran out but just cutting him off at the knees with "we don't serve it after 10:30" wasn't very polite. She finally served our drinks and we sat and watched while other diners arriving after us were served. We finally received our ham and cheese and club sandwiches after a 35 minute wait. We won't return as the menu is pretty run of the mill and the sandwiches and fries were standard fare. There are too many diners to want to repeat only fair service and food. Also, we sent an email to TN magazine with a correction about their chocolate gravy available hours.

We were not bothered by that but some people may certainly be bothered by it. The waitress came to the table and asked if we needed a menu, she brought silverware and asked us what we wanted to drink. It appeared there was one waitress and one cook. We brought our drinks and asked what we wanted to eat and I said I wanted to pancakes with bacon and the I said are you sure are pancakes are really large as she motioned to about the size of a plate. I said yes I want two of them and I could have done without the eye roll at not taking her suggestion. The hubby ordered biscuits and gravy, eggs, hash browns, and sausage. She brought out our meal and asked if we needed more coffee or tea. It was a good breakfast and there was plenty of food to eat. We left there satisfied and I am sure when we are back in the Celina, Tennessee area we will stop in here again.

I wish I lived close to here because I'd be there for breakfast EVERYDAY!…read more I visited my dad who lives close to this restaurant and he brought me here for breakfast. I loved the cute little building and all of the Western finishes. I desperately want one of the benches from their front porch! So cute! My dad and I were able to sit at a table that was safely distanced in this time of COVID. We were given a menu and the price points are unbeatable! They have a great selection. I built a breakfast and my dad got the biscuits and gravy. Everything was so good and we both were stuffed when we left. They also had chocolate gravy but I didn't realize that til after I ordered so next time I'm getting that. Service was excellent and we had a great time! I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town!

The little white building on 4th Street still wears its vintage RC Cola sign like a badge of honor, and the moment you push open the door, that familiar sizzle of burgers hitting the oil hits you like a hug from your childhood. We slid onto the stools at the old horseshoe counter, the same one I remember from when I was a kid, and watched the magic happen right in front of us. Patties kissed with bread for that impossibly soft center, fried in the shallow oil until the edges turned perfectly crisp and golden. My cheeseburger arrived "unsquoze," glistening and glorious, layered with that signature tangy sauce, crisp pickles, and onions that somehow make everything sing. One bite and I was twelve years old again--only this time I got to share it with my own family. The new owners have kept every bit of what made Dovie's legendary. Same perfect burgers. Same simple, soulful menu. Same feeling that you're exactly where you're supposed to be. My kids devoured theirs with the same wide-eyed joy I used to have, and we left with full hearts and fingers still a little greasy in the best possible way. Dovie's isn't just a burger joint. It's a living piece of Tompkinsville history that still tastes like home. If you've never been, go. If you grew up on these burgers, go back. It's every bit as wonderful as you remember.

Having said that they got us seated pretty quickly, probably within 20-30 minutes but it did take a while for our food to arrive.
