My husband and I were in Tampa for Memorial Day weekend and wanted to get a Friday dive in. After…read morecalling a couple of shops, we found that many of them don't go out on weekdays! How disappointing! But Narcosis was ready to go! We signed up for a 2-tank shallow morning dive trip. Nice and early. We met at the shop at 0600 to pick up our weights and tanks. Then we drove down the street in Tarpon Springs to meet the boat at the docks. The staff was so fun, and so easy-going, while also focused on safety. I can honestly say that I usually have a little anxiety before dives, but I experienced NONE with these guys. It was so relaxing and fun! One of the staff members was also helpful in giving me tips to roll off the boat since I usually step off. My mind kept me hesitating thinking that I'd hit the boat on the way down. The dive master did not rush me (but I didn't take forever either lol) in rolling off the boat. We lucked out with conditions. Water visibility was great. Water was calm and warm. The critters were out and about. You couldn't ask for more! Next time in Tampa, we'll definitely be back for another adventure. Don't let the interesting name choice hold you back. Wow where to start...Deep Six Divers has made getting scuba certified such an incredible, fun, and…read moreinformative process. I've always heard great things about this shop, so when I finally made the decision to get certified, I knew exactly where to go. The knowledge of the staff and the passion they have for diving is apparent in everything they do. I have learned SO much and felt so confident in my ability to dive by the end of the class that getting in the ocean and applying my skills was no problem at all. They take the time to help you get fitted to the gear that you need for class and any other items you may need. John is the shop owner and he has always been so nice every time I've been in the shop. Brant was the primary person giving lectures and teaching the skills in our class, he is in the process of becoming an instructor and he was so friendly and knowledgeable. Don was observing Brant during our classes to help him get his instructor certification; Don took us on our checkout dive in the Keys as well and you can tell that he is so passionate about his career in diving and instructing. He kept everything fun and explained things in a way that was understandable and made sure that any questions we had were answered without making anyone feel silly for asking. We've also gotten help from Christina, Hector, Tyler, and Ryan(and a few others) but I seriously cannot say enough good things about these people! They have given us skills and knowledge that we will use throughout our whole dive career and I can't wait to continue learning from them!

If you want to be the first on the water in the morning to see the manatees before the crowds of…read moreother people get out there, this is the place to come. We set out before sunrise and were ready to go once the sun hit the water in the morning. Our guide was the perfect mix of hands off and hands off. He showed us how to attract the manatees and interact/passively observe them, and created a shared group experience that you could partake in, but also let us wander about in our own and have intimate one on one time with the manatees, which I didn't see happening with the other groups that came out into the water later, they seemed more uptight and controlling of their groups. This was the highlight of our Florida trip and I'm so grateful we picked the best company to go with. They supplied snacks and drinks on the boat and a changing room after getting out of the water. The wet suits and snorkel gear they supplied was very quality and felt new. The main store we met at had lots of manatee goodies and snorkel and scuba gear. It was very cute and were pleasantly greeted by the boat captain when we came in in the morning. It felt like a big happy family of a crew and we had the greatest time out there. I will never forget having a manatee come hug me and try and eat my hair. We had a total love fest with each other for a solid 2 minutes, and the manatees were very interactive and curious and playful in general which made for a great experience. We were in silver springs that day and we saw so many manatees. This crew knows where to go and makes for the best experience. It's flexible to spend as much time as you'd like in the water and get out whenever you've felt you've fulfilled yourself and then enjoy sitting on the boat and watching the manatees go by on the beautiful morning.

Highly recommend the 6am tour as you get viewing time before it gets really busy. I really appreciate Birds Underwater as they do a great job educating you about the manatees and how to passively observe.
