This place screams summer: fun illuminated ice cream sign, little leaguers eating at the picnic tables up front, and the fluorescent lights buzzing above as you ordered. They have standard and unique hard ice cream flavors, like boston cream pie, strawberry shortcake, frosted animal crackers...and soft serve flavors I have never seen like blueberry, black raspberry, and twist combinations I have never seen either, like chocolate and mint, because most places only do a vanilla and chocolate twist. You can also get milkshakes and other things like ice cream sandwiches. The soft serve toppings options were different, in a very good way. I wish other places had these topping options! Options options and more options! Our family visited here last month this was my husband's ice cream shop growing up as a kid and I quickly realized how delicious it was! So many topping options so many self-serve and specialty flavors I was blown away by the options. Ok so this is not your typical ice cream place. This is next level ice cream. You can tell from your first bite that the ice cream is homemade, it just hits different. Make sure that you bring cash as they are cash only. The prices are super low for what you're getting. I ordered a small which has two scoops of ice cream and I added rainbow sprinkles because I'm a millennial and it's what we do. But I also had to order my dog a Sunday since I'm a millennial and, again, that's what we do. He waited in the car with the windows down since the asphalt was too hot for him to get out. When he saw me coming back to the car with his Sunday he was so excited. As you can see in the pictures he thoroughly enjoyed his Sunday and gave it to paws up. He saved his milk bones for last. My ice cream was absolutely delicious. Homemade ice cream hits different. It's just superior to all other ice cream. If you haven't been here I suggest that you do. They also have some cute picnic style seating that's shaded in the back by the parking lot. There are so many flavor choices everyone can find some thing that they will love. The coffee is definitely not overpowering and the ice cream is so creamy that I dream about it. My favorite is the black raspberry and vanilla twist in a waffle cone. My second favorite is a chocolate and vanilla twist with a peanut butter dip. YUM! This place is awesome! If they ever converted to an indoor store I would be there even in the dead of winter for the stuff! My one and only complaint is that the fluorescent yellow lights attract bugs and especially SPIDERS. I am talking about the biggest, fattest, nastiest looking spiders that nightmares are made of. I understand that this place serves food so there are the obvious health concerns of spraying the building with bug spray but come on - there has to be something that you can do that is approved and can help with the problem. Soft serve ice cream is an East Coast summer staple. There are numerous stands in the area but Humdinger has been around since I was a kid back in the 60's. Our Little League baseball team used to stop by here after our games. How can you not love an iconic ice cream stand? I got the small vanilla/black raspberry twist. I had to stop at Jones' Humdinger. Facing a long drive south on Interstate 81 and then for the length of the PA Turnpike, this was my last chance for authentic fare in many a mile. I stocked up with a double twist fat free yogurt in a large cup and incredible chocolate "Monster" shake, thick, for the road. The shake lasted all the way to Clark's Summit/Scranton. What a treat. I haven't been that often since moving away for college, but I enjoy coming back and eating Humdinger ice cream on a sunny summer day :) I'm a super fan of the dip tops, my younger self going with chocolate soft serve dipped in peanut butter, my older self enjoying soft serve raspberry, which might even be frozen yogurt, with chocolate dip top. ​Ice cream was decent, nothing mind-blowing though. The variety of ice cream was good, however. The main problem was a combination of VERY slow service and cash only policy. I had to drive to an ATM, pay the exorbitant ATM fee, and drive back just to buy ice cream. Ridiculous. It's 2018, and time to get with the program of accepting cards. Ludicrously inconvenient for customers when you don't accept a form of payment that has been around for decades. On top of that, I shouldn't have to wait in line for 20 minutes with multiple windows open and only a few groups in front of me. It shouldn't take that long to scoop ice cream. They should also really replace their existing seating, as what they have now is old, worn, and dirty-looking. Will probably look for a different ice cream parlor in the future. read more

This is, by far, my favorite place to get ice cream in the southern tier! You may have to wait in line a bit on a hot summer evening but it is worth it! I wish they had smaller sizes available for some items, like the cyclones, but they have a lot of other things that the little ones can eat!
