This past weekend I was finally able to locate a juice bar, the one and only (to my knowledge)…read morejuice bar in the Binghamton area and it was alright but definitely could be so much more. The spot is in the same location as a yoga studio. I've been seeing this a lot with yoga studios, the place will have a juice and/or smoothie bar for people to grab something healthy after their workout. This juice longue had smoothies, smoothie bowls and protein/super food add ins for their smoothies. They also had juices but they were pre-made. I'm not favorable of places that sell pre-made juices, they are not customizable that way and I just don't like the idea of them sitting on the shelf until they are sold or tossed. The place did not seem like it did a high volume, which may be unfair to say, I've only been there once, but I would much rather spend my money on a freshly made juice. The juices sounded tasty, ingredients like kale, beets, carrots, apple, ginger, pear, pineapple and more. Their super food add ins were maca, cacao, flax, turmeric, cayenne pepper, ginger, spirulina and others. You could order a wheat grass shot or hot shot too. I came in strictly for a green juice but they didn't have any available. That's what I mean, they only had two out of their three juices at the time because there weren't any others made. I was also interested in getting a ginger shot but the woman behind the counter said they just had a pre-made hot shot which was ginger, lemon and turmeric. Again, the pre-made shot wasn't idea but I was desperate for some ginger so I grabbed one. They were in a fridge nearby and they were tiny. I paid $4 for the shot and it was definitely one of the smallest ginger shots I've had. My go to place on Long Island sells their ginger shots for $1.25. They are made right in front of you, fresh and customizable and they're triple the size. Because of the cost, quality and quantity I would likely not come back here for a shot. You can buy the same thing at Wegmans for the same cost and it's double the size. When I walked into the juice shop I stood at the counter for a good two minutes while the woman working was blending up a smoothie. She didn't turn and say hi, didn't say she'd be right with me, nothing. It was awkward and I almost left. Eventually she finished what she was doing and helped me but the place definitely left something to be desired. The smoothie bowl she was making looked absolutely delicious though. Like I said, this place could be so much more. I'd come here every single day if they had customized freshly made juices available and better options for power shots.

Overall, I liked the studio and found the class times to be convenient for my schedule. The instructors were great about showing modifications, both easier and more challenging, which I found productive to my own progress. Instructors were really great about answering questions after class (e.g., pigeon pose always cuts off my leg circulation for some reason, despite being hyperflexible, and they helped me find an alternative). I really wanted to love this place, but the main reason I did not go back is because most of their classes are hot yoga, which I really don't like. Personally, the heat does nothing for me besides drench my clothes ~completely~ in sweat (required a towel on my fabric car seats!) and, frankly, has no science to prove any benefits anyway. Plus, in addition to being annoying, it is also a hazard. I tried a lot of things to make the experience less slippery on my mat and nothing seemed to work. I just didn't think it was worth the struggle of trying not to slip and fall in basic poses, which I would not have to waste my time thinking about (and ultimately distracting me from the meditative experience) in a normal class. I also took an aerial yoga class, which was fun to try, but I personally found it pretty uncomfortable (cutting off circulation, digging into my legs despite being pretty thin figured). Just wasn't for me. If you don't mind hot yoga, you'll probably love this place. But if you do, you should choose a different studio (which is honestly hard to find in this area, as many places are hot yoga only).

There are lots of drinks on the menu and most of them can be made with non-dairy milk and with the sweetness and ice levels adjusted. I had no choice but to visit them during BU move-in weekend which was the only weekend I was in Vestal and it was, as I expected, very busy. I don't usually like to order online but I did this time to save some time and that was definitely a smart move because the line was very long. I was frustrated though because I saw what I was pretty sure was my drink get prepared and set on the counter and then sit there for like 5 minutes because there was no one attending to the online order drinks. When someone made a drink for a customer that had ordered in person they would hand that drink to the customer and then immediately run back to making the next order so I couldn't ask anyone because they were always busy. Some places, including this location, will, if you remember to ask, butter your bagel BEFORE packing it away but it is hit or miss. Not sure exactly why, maybe too many other options where I do live. Anyway, we decided Panera was it. Parking lot was large, clean and easy to enter and park. Nice outside seating area as well. Entrance to the restaurant was clean and inviting and the display of baked goods in the glass case before us was indeed tempting. I did get two cookies to go for later after lunch. I ordered the half sandwich garden caprese and Mediterranean Chicken greens with grains. I can't decide which was more delicious. The salad had feta. Cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, Red peppers. Salad greens, grains and a lovely blob of hummus also a very nice light dressing. The caprese sandwich was really tasty. Everything on it melded into a party in each bite. I'd definitely order both of these again. Brother completely enjoyed his salad as well. I must digress, we ordered, got the electronic alert device and waited not more than 5-10 minutes for our food to be ready. Pretty darn quick and it was all correct. I will definitely consider going to my local Panera once back home. I actually feel like I've been missing out on some good stuff. Again, not sure exactly why I haven't been to Panera for so long, but as the Terminator says "I'll be back".

For me, they are best eaten with limited toppings and no sauce. I'm not a huge fan of their burger sauce but others seem to like it but if you leave the sauce you get the full flavor of the burger and seasoning. I recently had to make a visit with a group to that place where there are nearly half a dozen guys that make burgers and as a test, I tried eating it the same way I'd eat it at here and discovered there was absolutely NO flavor. The best way to find out if a place makes good burgers is to eat it plain with little to nothing on it because if they are covering it all up with add-ons, they don't have a good burger, they just have cooked meat. TKC doesn't need the sauce but it's there if you want it. Better yet, they are reasonably priced and less expensive than any other burger joint in the area. (We are talking GOOD burgers here, not the fast food chains but even then...still probably cheaper.) Second, they have a fantastic hot honey chicken sandwich that has a lot of chicken on it. It is fried perfectly and the hot honey adds just the right touch of sweet and spicy to give it a wonderful flavor. Finally, sides of onion rings and fries are all done perfectly. I think personally the onion rings have the WIN here but either way you can't go wrong. Oh, and they have ice cream! That isn't the highlight for me, but they have a decent selection of flavors and are reasonably priced. My choice is the non-dairy cookie dough and peanut butter (I think I have the flavor right) and it tastes great. This place seems to always be busy and the owner is always cheerful and friendly. Do yourself a favor and make a visit and in the process support a wonderful local business! You won't regret it. P.S. Adding this - I've taken multiple people here over the past few months and not had a single person disagree with me on how great this place is. So, while the review is mine, I'm quite certain my family and friends would give the exact same 5-star review here.
